Hi y'all. Tonight something Lynne posted about an accident w/ mulch in her garden reminded me of something my big brother did once years ago. I laughed about it tonight as I had back then & started thinking about Gardening Bloopers & how we've all had one or had one done unto us. So, a thread to share the worst/best of the oopsies and ouchies and screwups & just plain ole disasters you've encountered while working in your gardens. So I'll start by ratting out my big brother. One day while Mom & us younger kids were not at home, Larry thought he'd do Mom a "big favor" by "weeding" her garden. He pulled out all her Baby's Breath! Mom didn't think it was entirely funny but us kids who knew Gyp from a weed, did. Your turn!

But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

I thought I was planting my gourd seedlings around my trellis and it turned out I had planted my cucumber seedlings around my trellis and the gourds in the garden. I do cage my cukes but the cages weren't sturdy like the trellis for the gourds so some changes in scaffolding had to be made mid season.

OMG, Sheri, I so would NOT have wanted to disentangle viney stuff from around cages & a trellis & swap out the structures, OMG! Poor girl to have to go through that!

Ok - this is going to turn into a thread about my husband!!! Just a few summers into living in this house, Amy and I were thrilled to see a sunflower growing in the middle of a garden, that I hadn't planted. Apparently a birdie dropped a seed and it grew, so we babied it. Imagine the day I went out to check on it, to find that Don had WEEDWACKED it because he thought it was a weed!!! He has not lived that down one day ever since!!!

Oh gosh Lynne. I hate when that happens. I've had yard helpers and Johnny cut down stuff that I had just planted. Sometimes it's just better to do it myself.
