Hi everybody!

It sure is pretty out there today.

I have a vast "To Do" list for today, so I'll just be in and out during breaks. With company arriving this afternoon, I really do need to get things done this morning! Otherwise I'll be saying "pick your feet up so I can sweep under you!" and that ain't polite! lol

wavy Taking a break. Today started off badly with so many last minute cancellations for tomorrow. Maxi got so upset, he was beside himself. I am feeding him some lunch then making him lay down for a nap. He needs one badly. Most of the glitches in the plan have been worked out.

The woman who was supposed to make a big sheet cake called and asked if she could make cupcakes instead? I said "Yes, of course, but would you make different colored icing for the tops and then arrange them on the cake sheet so they look like a Rosary?" She said okay.

Because my nephew in Philadelphia was supposed to be in charge of the BBQ chicken called and canceled the trip this morning, someone else has offered to take over the chicken detail for me. Good thing, because I have One Ton of chicken legs & thighs defrosting! Didn't know quite what I was going to do with it while we are at the church so far from home...

Maxi badly tore his dress pants, so he will be wearing his new jeans w/ his red & white striped dress shirt, tie & blazer. He'll look sharp. We picked the red & white shirt because tomorrow is Pentecost Sunday, a day when red is traditionally worn at church.

I gotta eat something before I forget again.

Diane I know you have been terribly busy & your yard is the last of the priorities this week. Maxi & I would love to come weed for you...

Sorry to hear of last minute troubles, sounds like it's all working out though. I still think Maxi will have a spectacular day! The cupcakes arranged like a rosary sounds like a neat idea.

Diane, my yard probably has more weeds than yours and I keep avoiding it like it's plagued or something. lol

We just finished breakfast not too long ago. Aros got the new camera for Joey today so Joey will be all set for his camping trip this week. He's very excited as he's never been to any kind of camp before. We don't go camping. We're thinking about going to the mall to find a case for the camera, along with walking the mall looking at things we can't afford, as Aros put it. I need to go to the grocery store but I'll wait until this afternoon when it's not so busy. So far it's sunny and nice but it's supposed to start raining again, we just never know when.

Well!

Some friends came over to run errands for me. I reached for my wallet to get out two important cards she'd need for the shopping. The cards weren't in my wallet! So, I thought, okay, when my new girl shopped on Thursday, did she hand them to me or put them in my wallet as I prefer? Right on my desk where I'd been sitting when she came in, I saw the receipts and the list she'd used, but no cards.

Well! My friends searched this entire house, even in the most unlikely places, even under the desk and back down behind things. We tore this place apart.

No cards.

No cards anywhere.

I called my girl. She remembered it as I did... she'd handed me everything while I was seated at my desk. Yup, that's what I thought, too.

Because we'd moved furniture around on Friday, on the very off chance that the cards had fallen & gotten caught unnoticed in the furniture moving, we moved the furniture again.

No cards.

Merme *stressed*

Merme--I surely hope everything ends up working well, and oh my--(about the cards)====I bet you "put them away some place safe" for that is what I have usually done when I cannot find stuff--- rolz---I wish you all the best of luck & know you both will have a great day!!!

Tamara---cancellations seem to be part of parties these days--people just really do not care, or are not thinking clearly why----for my MIL's party we invited 97 people.(relatively close family)---56 RSVP'd yes. Many did reply no but I had to call a bundle of them. Thank goodness I have free long distance.
It is costly to make food for peoiple who do not come. Thank goodness for my chest freezer.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow--I amsure this will be a lovely party, that Juile will remember all of her life.
--and yes I think you will deserve lots of rest time or time doing something that you love next week. --(gardening??)

Oh, Tamara, wish I could help. Are you almost done so you can get some sleep? I'm about to go get dinner, it's only 7 here. I did my shopping for the week and I'm quite proud of myself. I'm able to fee myself breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 5 days for only $60. That even includes snacks. Have a good day tomorrow!

Merme, you too, have a good day with Maxi!

Well, it is nearly midnight. I've decided to stop stressing.

Whoever will come, will come. There will be great food and drinks and a bunch of little kids running around. There will be out of towners oggling over the beautiful setting. There will be a couple of exhausted adults swimming in the Box of Joe and a few more enjoying the Zinfandel. If it gets cold, we'll huddle around the grills. If it rains on Maxi's Confirmation Cake, I will sing him "MacArthur Park" and he'll laugh. What event can ever be truly ruined if balloons are involved, for the love of God?!

And the church service itself will be absolutely lovely. And Maxi will be a blessed kid, sincere and attentive.

And, wonder of wonders, he has a magnificent (if overly large) banner lovingly and painstakingly stitched for him by his own Aunt Ro.

It's all gonna be alright.

Merme *in the No Stress zone*

Gosh, I hope all the festivites go well today. Hopefully the last minute situations won't put a damper on anything.

Diane, taking care of a sick person is harder on the caregiver a lot of the time. For 18 months, 2 different times, when Johnny was bedridden, I'd get up way early to feed him, help him to the bathroom and try to get him comfortable before I went to work. As soon as I opened the back door in the evening he'd yell for me to come help him. He could barely move and would sometimes lay in the same position all day and couldn't wait for me to move his legs around. I'm ashamed to admit that some days I'd take longer than necessary coming home and on some days I'd try to sneak out of the bed in the morning so I could have a minute to myself. It's hard. Try to take care of yourself.

Hi everyone! Another slow Sunday at work for me. I came to work to find out that the pharmacy screwed up, again! I don't know what's wrong with them. It's like those people forgot how to read or something. Almost 2 weeks ago I ordered 8 cases of formula and this is the second Sunday that I find out that there wasn't enough. Don't they understand these people need this formula to survive? I typed up a polite but firm letter addressing the issue and what I wanted to do to fix it. I also found a bottle of pills missing today. My own personal ones. Not sure how long they've been missing for and I have no memory of taking the last pill and throwing the bottle away. I had a new bottle so I'm not out, just wish I could remember what happened to the other bottle. Anyway, I need to stop venting. Hope Tamara and Merme are having a great time today!

It is nice to hear that your event went well, Tamara. I bet you are exhausted. I get a little sleepy just reading about it.
Rain today altered my plans to mostly indoor ones. But that is OK. Indoor things need doing too.

Saw the one photo of Maxi in another thread. Wondering how it all went.

Sounds like some folks had a busy weekend. Staying up until 3am?? Those days are long gone for me! But glad to hear it went well, Tamara. Get some rest!

We are 2/3 of the way through our "bed & breakfast & lunch & supper at the farm" extravagansa (sp?). John's family has come & gone (Monday - Thursday). It went well, I think. Lots of playing on ATV & lots of good fishing. And never a dirty dish!! The young family with a 9, 7 year old, and a 10 month old have come & gone (Thursday - Sunday morning). That was fun-- except that our old dog wasn't really digging sharing floor space with the crawler. I'd forgotten just how much stuff needs to get moved off the floor when there's a baby about. And about 8 hours after the family left, my mom & brother arrived this evening.

Not complaining-- who am I kidding? of course I'm complaining-- but I am pretty much sick of washing towels and sheets and cleaning bathrooms. This visit should be quieter than the last. :-) I doubt my brother will be climbing over the furniture. But who knows? You know how rambunctious those 48 year olds can get!

Seriously, it was great to see everyone. But I think next time we have a barage of guests, we'll schedule more that a few hours between groups!

Turned hot here all of a sudden. 93* today, and a bit on the humid side. But hey-- wouldn't trade it for the world.

And... in other news... we are now the proud owners of two cats. They were daughter Caroline's, but she's moved and... well... Mom? You have a big farm. Sure. Geeze. It will be interesting seeing how these condominium cats fare out here. We might have to transition them.

Sorry to rattle on. It's really the first time in ... a week I've had a chance to just sit and, well, you know, sit.

I'll check in & report later this week.

It is great to have Mom here. She said the photos didn't do the place justice. Indeed.

Of to lala land. Have a good week everyone!!

I'm happy to see you still kicking, Marica! And yes, constant company can be exhausting, as wonderful as it is to have them all.

And yes, we must watch those 48 year olds who can be prone to fits of rambunctiousness! lol

See you on the flip side when you next have a moment to catch your breath and visit for a sec.

I thought you'd be passed out by now, Merme, you've had a long day and were up late last night. I don't know how you're doing it. I cooked the squash according to your instructions and it came out great! A bit hard to cut it though, other than that no issues whatsoever. Thanks! I'm about to heat up some water for tea and then think about trying to get to bed a little early tonight.

Well Cheryl, I'm with you on the hot tea idea. I'm about ready to make a cup of Red rose myself.

I'm glad you enjoyed the squash. And yes, they are hard to cut. Did you know you can ask them it cut it in half for you at the grocery, and they will, free of charge?

Getting to bed early is a good idea. I think I'll second your motion and head that way myself, soon.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.
