Is candytuft and iberis the same plant? Am I supposed to cut this back after it blooms? Year to year I get less flowers and I thought it would spread at least a little. It just dawned on me that maybe it flowers on new growth like some bushes. Anyone have info?

Yes it is the same plant. In some places it grows and reseeds like crazy and in others it does not do as well. Mine never did too well. I figured it was because I was a little on the hot side for it.
They prefer slightly alkaline soil and you can give a light haircut after blooming to maintain plant shape. But the pruning isn't necessary for blooming. Sun is preferred but people have had success in part shade locations.

Thanks Tina. If I do nothing to it then later in the summer it seems to die back partially and then it looks really bad. I'm in Northern Ohio so it really isn't a heat issue I don't think. I love it. I'll just have to experiment. Have a great day.
