I live in NY and need a perennial grass. Is Kentucky Blue grass a perennial? I see it sold a lot in our stores. Any other perennial grasses I should try? Thanks Gail
I don't know what Kentucky Bluegrass is...but we seem to have a lot of here in Kentucky. It's very pretty....and green. ...never thought much about it until I saw this topic. I have it in my yard...everyone has it here. ...guess it's a Kentucky thing.
One of the the advantages of Kentucky bluegrass is if you have walnut trees. Walnuts trees secrete a chemical that is poisonous to most plants; Kentucky bluegrass and tall fescue are some of a few grasses that do well in close proximity to walnut trees.
here in Ontario, most of our sod is Kentucky Blue Grass. It is very hardy, deeply rooted, drought tolerant and a lovely blue colour (except in July when most lawns go dormant).
I just spent a ridiculous amount of money on lawn seed- Kentucky Blue grass of course! I'l keep everyone posted- hope this works! Thanks everyone for your comments Gail
