I'm 31 and my mom still has boxes of stuff from both me and my brother. She did cross a line though when she tried to give me back my baby teeth a few years ago. I like seeing old pictures and things from school, especially the ones where I was too young to have memories of.

I have almost nothing left from my childhood, so I do tend to save stuff for Maxi. He does also, putting beloved things away for his children someday. He is sweet that way. I gotta get me to bed. I got chilled today running errands in the rain. It was only in the 50s and I wasn't dressed warmly enough. So time now for a good sleep to face tomorrow's busy-ness. Maxi is going to his first Semi Formal tomorrow night & was picking out shirts & ties to decide which one. I think he will go with the red tie... what other color would my kid pick? Cheryl I'm sorry you feel like waddling. I try to avoid that feeling because I so hate when it happens to me. But still, sometimes, it just does. YUCK! Marica, I hope you can begin visiting us more often. You are missed! Safe Away Home, O my palies, and sweet dreams to you all!

Morning all, I missed some chatting last night Janer, I have never posted in the 'member galleries' yet, I should. Maybe later this week. I usually just throw a pic in here or there. Cheryl, take a break...pass on some of those chores to Aros. Tina, just send me the flyers, nothing has to be in them Merme, rest up today for tomorrow and Marica, it's nice to see you back. There all covered..in a way I got to talk to everyone Sun is shining again today, beautiful out..except for the flies.

The sun is out here, too, and it is lovely to see after all that rain! I am packing a rain poncho each for Maxi & I because the weather report today said Washington was going to be "iffy" all week... sun w/ rain and then sun again. I thought hooded ponchos would be easier to manage than umbrellas. Cleaned out the ice box this morning & will put things in the freezer tonight. I still have 1/2 a gallon of milk we won't use up before tomorrow morning, so I will freeze that as well. Lots to finish up... trash out, bird fed, windows locked.... good thing I have a kid who never minds helping!

I was supposed to be done but some old farmer sold DH a wagon for 'little or nothing' it needed work and paint of course..still only 1/3 finished on the putting it together but I painted what had to be done for now. I also have a whole shed to paint but am thinking of waiting til fall...trying to find cheap outdoor paint as well, have no plan on spending $40 a gallon for an old shed that needs 5 gallons..I remember not long ago white paint was the cheapest you could buy, not now.

Gee I pay $25.00 a gallon for deck stain & I thought that was high. I am so srry for that. I really wanted to paint my deck this year. it has not been touched for 2 years--I think?? but now I will be waiting for a bit. hopefully there will be another day or 2 of a cool spell, so I can stand to do it.

I know it does and for that I am sorry. I keep telling everyone here, that is one thing I cannot understand. The price of goods & services keeps going up but wages & such keep going down. what are people thinking, is what I wonder.

The watering draws in mosquitoes though...so I have to do it dry. Oh well, I know the soil is good soil so it shouldn't be too bad. I love earning my own money.

I can imagine that you do. I like having my own too. I feel like it is ok then to spend it as I please & not have to be "sensible" & save it for bills. I have to go now--but I'll see ya all later--bye

$$. Good. Have fun weeding. Back to paint. Does anyone remember "white wash?" Well, apparently someone over at wikipedia does. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_wash I remember folks on the farm we visited when I was a girl using white wash to paint the bases of pine trees. Who knows why. And I'm sure they used the "slacked lime in water" version. (More wikipedia-- slacked lime is hydrated lime. That's what comes in bags, right?) Anyway-- white wash might be a low cost alternative to paint, Tamara, especially for outside things that aren't all that critical. Sounds like it has to be reapplied every spring, but the cost savings would probably outweigh the labor. Almost done with the linen washing-ironing stuff. Just a few stragglers. Tomorrow afternoon-evening we're having company. Always a good excuse to do a spot of cleaning and prettifying. Why would you white wash trees?

I could be remembering wrongly but as I remember, it was used to protect trees from pests. Bugs & such?? although I think sometimes it was done just for looks. anyone else???

Hi all, weeding sucks big time when it gets too far along. Not worth the money I made honestly..nope I have no intention of doing the bigger more weeded bed tomorrow either White wash wouldn't over winter here, the snow is as high as the roof lines most years. Never heard of using it on trees either.

White wash was also used on trees which have had limbs cut. The white wash would seal the cut, preventing the entrance of pests & disease & also prevent the sap from running. Hi everybody! I've always had my own money, also, and wouldn't quite know what to do if someone else were responsible for bringing it in & deciding how it was spent! (I always worked far more than my husbands did & didn't mind that overly much, except that a bit of help would've been nice!) Busy packing, cleaning out the fridge & putting together our "train food" for tomorrow....

I remember white washed trees as a kid. I just think they have some better alternatives now. And lime is so not good for pines. It sweetens the soil. And why it is not a good thing to have concrete around pines either. It keeps on leaching lime into the soil. Good night all. I am heading to play a couple of games and then bed down early.

Good night Merme, sleep well and have a safe trip! I had a full day today. It was both mentally and physically exhausting. At the end though me and the kids were taken out to dinner so that was nice. The kids have a busy weekend with their D.C. grandma. Tomorrow they're taking a boat to and island for some sort of native american tour thing. I forget what it's called but it looks really neat, and it's educational. Me, I have a garden full of weeds that will probably take me all weekend to make a dent in. Hopefully it will look nice by Sunday afternoon. It's also supposed to get up near 80 degrees this weekend! Finally some sort of summer weather, I can't wait. Something partially fell off underneath my car and you could hear it dragging as I drove down the street. The kids thought it was hilarious and they had fun watching peoples reactions as I drove by. I'm going to have to crawl under there in the morning and take the screw out so I can remove it. Oy vey, these old cars.

Morning all, sun is shining again..another nice day. I have some painting to do..for myself, a bathroom stand and a few bumps in my walls(I took off closet doors and fell with them ..I'm bruised, the walls are dinged)always something. DH is gone for the day, playing chauffeur for another elderly farmer, they are gone to an equipment sale in the next province. So I have another day to myself..another farmer is coming to buy two of last years baby bulls. So I have to wait around. Hoping everyone has a great week end..Merme must be getting last minute things ready for the trip. Prayers and good wishes are following you my friend. Cheryl, once you start removing parts..they keep on falling off I remember an old truck we had..at last we were even duct taping things(those were the poorest days we ever had)..hard times but some funny memories.

Wire hangers are good for holding parts on cars a little longer too. Good morning. The sun is shining here as well. It is to be warmer today and through the weekend.

It is only 57* here. Not hot at all. It was sunny but some clouds came by. I so want to work outside but have to keep my nose to the grindstone indoors. I have company coming this week. My house is not fit for company.

Good morning! Got my coffee, it's only about 57 right now but it's supposed to get to about 78 today. The kids are up and I'm going to be taking them down to the waterfront where they're meeting their grandma for the boat tour thing. Then, it's just me and Aros but he stayed up most of the night so it'll mostly just be me for at least a few hours. weeds, watch out, I'm coming for you!
