As some of you know, I have been wanting a new car for many years now. There have been many obstacles in the way of me getting a new car in the past. Finally, I've gone past all that and obtained my very first new car. Let me tell you a little bit about the car. First of all, it's a 2010 Nissan Sentra. It's really high tech compared to what I've been driving. The key you never actually use. There is no keyhole in the door, there is one in the ignition but it's almost pointless. As long as the keychain (which contains the key, hidden) is near enough to the car you just push a button on the car door or trunk and it unlocks. Once in the car, you only need to have the keychain in the car with you and you can start and turn off your car. You can't lock the keys in the car or trunk, it detects if it's in the car and the locks won't engage. If you accidentally drop the key in the trunk, it pops the trunk open and beeps. It's ipod ready, which means it has a cord built in and when you plug in your ipod it converts it to the stereo. It also has built in bluetooth so when someone calls me I can answer using my steering wheel and talk the the person via my car's speakers. Considering I skipped two whole decades of cars these things are pretty high tech to me. I've been driving around a 1987 Subaru whose only feature was power steering. It has some fancy newer kind of transmission that doesn't have gears and it's supposed to give me an average of 33mpg. Not too shabby huh? It's black, but the color is called espresso black because in the sunlight it's a dark sparkly brownish color. Really pretty. Anyway, I know it's not that big of a deal for some people to get a new car but this is my first new car and I've been waiting many years for it so I'm very excited and wanted to share. On to the pics. Sorry they're so small. I think my phone does that to not alter the quality of the pics (even though it's really just a camera phone).

Oh Cheryl, this is truly wonderful!

You have a splendiferous new car all of your very own! How cool is that?!

A new carISa very big deal. I am so proud of you! Way to go!

All the features sound marvelous; especially about not being able to lock the key inside or in the trunk. Now why didn't somebody think of that a very long time ago? why

I do not have an iPod, but Maxi does & I know he'd think he was really styling if he could just plug it into the car and listen w/out carrying his speaker/dock gizmo w/ him.

Neat!

How about the handling? Do you like the way it manages turns & curves and picks up speed? How is it for parallel parking? And what about the fit for your height? Does it feel like a "ladies car" and somehow made for you or no? What is the interior like? What's under that hood?

Questions! Questions! lol

Merme *hoping for more details, please*

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Thanks Carol! Tina this is my first car past the 80's, lol Before today all I've ever had was new to me cars too. I've dreamed of someday buying a new car. Actually, I leased it because it was a better deal. I'm only locked in for 3 years with the option to buy at the end of my 3 year deal. Merme, it handles wonderfully. The steering wheel is a little tight, makes me think of a race car steering wheel. It picks up speed pretty good, not too much power, which is great for me. It's nice and roomy on the inside while still being fairly compact on the outside. Definitely a ladies car but it looks nice so Aros doesn't mind it. At least not until I can get leopard seat covers. neenee Haven't tried it for parallel parking yet but I'm sure it'll be fine since it's slightly shorter in length than my subaru. It feels like the perfect size for me. Plus, I can "pump" up the drivers seat to sit higher if I feel too low. It's up a little and it's nice. It has grey interior with chrome trim. I'll take pics of the inside tomorrow, didn't think of that. Aros also has some pictures of me with the car on his phone so I'll have to get him to email those to me. The kids are very excited. They might not be as excited when they find out all the rules. nono I'm a little protective at this stage.

Are you kidding? A new car is the greatest thing ever...makes you feel like a million bucks doesn't it? The only bad thing is that you get scared on where to park it because what if someone scratches it? lol So you find yourself walking 5 minutes to get to the store 'cause you parked at the end of the parking lot.

I am so happy for you..Enjoy kissie

Actually, I'm more scared to be too protective. Aros's dad has a new truck and purposefully parked it in the back, two spaces, to avoid scratches and someone keyed it. He lives in a much higher crime city than I do but still, I figure if I'm too careful I'm setting myself up.

Oh it does sound like you've got yourself the ideal car for you, Cheryl ~ and that is just swell!

I'm delighted to hear how well it handles and that you can raise your seat. It is awful to sit too low to drive safely just because you are on the shorter side.

Kids won't probably mind the rules if you tell them right away, the first time out. It'll go down easy when they are excited about the car.

Dodge, no it isn't electric. It has what's called a constant variable transmission though. It has not gears, doesn't shift, instead it has a pulley system which is supposed to be better on gas. The transmission has a 10 year warranty so it must be good.

Thanks for all the congrats, I'm so happy you have no idea. Well, maybe you do. Some of you have known me long enough to have heard me complain about my old car plenty. It is very high tech compared to what I was driving. We're still playing with buttons, lol
