Tomorrow morning we are going to do a quick shopping trip & then hit the beach. Late in the afternoon, we will come home, shower & get ready to fire up the grill. Maxi's dad & his family are coming for dinner & then they'll take the kids to see our town fireworks. After that, they will take Maxi home w/ them for a Monday's trip to other family for a cookout. Or at least, those are the plans at the moment! *Subject to change without notice* because this is my EX after all! lol

Maxi has to get out his boogey board and I gotta get out my 4th of July straw katie. Then we'll be styling!

First though, I have to decide what to put on the grill tomorrow night. Right now I'm dreaming of all the great grill recipes I haven't been able to make in a long time but honestly, I will probably settle down w/ hamburgers and hot dogs.

I'll save the cowboy pork chops for another time.

I spoke w/ Diane today. She is fine.... just very busy this holiday weekend.

I guess Sheri's computer is still down. Too bad. Geez, I hate computer problems!

Well, I just had a hot shower and it was a real treat. We've rarely had hot water for showers in the last 6 months and I was beginning to forget what they were like! lol

Now it is time for a fresh cup of coffee and to settle in w/ a puzzle book. I sure do like logic problems.

Don't float way, Tamara. I wish we could share bits of our weather.
Good morning. I am not complaining. I think we had the most wonderful June weather-wise that I can remember. And July so far is following suit with mild temperatures. I would be wonderful if I could just stop waiting for that other shoe to drop....
We will get slam dunked with some heat at some point.

So sorry for the rain, Tamara. Too bad we could not bottle all the excess. I am sure one day this summer all of us that has had too much since spring will be wishing that we had it.

I hope it stops raining for you.

Tina I feel the way you do, I too wonder when the other shoe is gtonna drop.
But then I hope it does not. A normal summer would be nice.

Off to church here in a few and then back home to begin the rest of the prepartion for a small family BBQ. Just my parents & 1 of my DD's.
Have a Happy Independance Day everyone. thumbup

Hi everybody!

We are having a slow start to our day but that is okay as it is unusually warm out there ... we are in the 90's. My Sunday girl told us the beach is packed out with people but she isn't familiar w/ where we go that is two seconds off the beaten path but may as well be in another world as it never gets crowded. lol

It is hot here today also, Tam.

All of our plans got cancelled (thanks, Dad) and Maxi is upset.

We just started up our new grill after some difficulty and a call to the manufacturer. After the reset of the control button, it lit the first try perfectly!

Now we are doing the 15 minute "burn off" of factory oils.

Then we will cook! YAY!

Happy fourth everyone! Sorry to hear about Maxi's cancelled plans, sounds like you have something figured out though. I have to make more brownies. I wasn't going to but then Aros confessed that he ate a few which left us with not too many to share. He blames me for leaving them out on the counter, even though they were in a sealed tupperware. Silly man. Have a fun and safe day everyone!

Rod used t5op do that when the kids ere small. he thought if it was a sweet & on the counter in his house it must be for him (can we say he was raised spoiled--well he was???)

At first I tried telling him the dessert was for company or to take someplace....Then I finally began putting notes on anythinmg that he could not eat---telling him just that & why he could not eat it.

Now after 30 years, he finally askes me first...

We had a delicious BBQ lunch, complete with trimmings. For dessert I made a strawberry pie. It is so easy to do---I may do it more often, using other fruits as well as Strawberries....--- thumbup

Happy 4th everyone...

You will need to post your recipe for the strawberry pie, Carol. It is sounding really good right now.
It is about a quarter after 2 in the afternoon of July 4th. It is only up to 75* and 45% relative humidity out there. That is unheard of in SoCal. I am not complaining at all.

It is very very hot here & I truly thank God for a/c.

We had a heat wave in July like this back in 2000, the year before we got a/c. In those days, I would pack up all of Maxi's beach gear into his big red wagon and off we'd go to spend the entire day at the beach. I'd set up his cabana so we could get out of the sun whenever needed and slowly our 2 liter bottles of frozen water would melt, perfect for drinking later. That last summer before I got sick the heat was so bad we stayed right smack dab in the water all day! lol Keeping in mind that the Gulf Of Maine never really warms up, I'm telling ya, it was a gosh hot day to keep me in that icy water so long! lol

Later that week we caught the train and went to Delaware for a family reunion. Then I remembered what "hot day" really means! haha

Maxi's buddy Dom came over & the boys are playing. Maxi has had a much better afternoon than he has had morning. Dom's mom might allow Maxi to ride w/ them to the fireworks.... otherwise Maxi can't go.

Well I am in for a few minutes. I just had a 2 or 3 hour nap. That is what comes from being up last night all but 2-1/2 hours & then going all day & early evening.

here in about 45 minutes, I will go to my moms. She & I a re goiong to see the Fireworks that a neighboring town puts on. last year someone got smart & had food & drink to offer for people. made it kind of like a small fair. Well in my mind it did. I guess one has to find their joy where they can.

In our town they light the fireworks from the waterline at the beach, nearabout. Then everyone gathers on the beach or beach area to watch but you can actually get a good view of them from some distance away.

One year when Maxi was very small, I got into a confrontation w/ a local cop! lol

We were sitting in the crowd on the beach after dark, waiting for the fireworks. Down by the water there was a guy selling those glow-in-the-dark necklaces & bracelets. Maxi wanted one, so I said ok, and we got in line.

Just as it was our turn, this overly vigilant cop came up to us and told the guy he didn't have a license to sell in our town. The guy said he didn't need one because actually the area where he was standing didn't belong to our town. And of course, he was right.

The female cop started this big harrange & the guy said "you can't stop me from GIVING a bracelet to this child" and he handed one to Maxi who had no idea what the argument was about.

And I said "You can't stop me from GIVING this fellow a gift because to me he looks poor" and I handed him more than what he was asking for the glowy things.

lol

That lady cop was SUCH a snot and didn't much like losing. In fact, all these years later she still IS snotty and busts my chops any time she can! *is she holding a grudge God forbid?*

I don't worry about it any because I don't do things to get in trouble & mouthy people don't upset me.

In fact, two years ago she reported me as an "unfit mother" and the investigator called me in the ICU & the nurse let me speak for a few minutes. Basically he apologized for bothering me at a time like that but all charges have to be looked into. He had looked very carefully & had found nothing to substantiate her claim & he just wanted to let me know that. Nice guy.

Well Maxi certainly had fun learning how to cook on the grill today. Lesson #1 do not turn hamburgers when they are still mostly raw because they will break apart and fall into the burner! lol Lesson #2 when this happens, turn the grill off and let it cool a bit, and clean that meat out of there. Lesson #3 start again and this time let the burgers actually cook. and lesson #4 was corn on the cob takes longer to cook than anything else!!!

Not bad for a first day at all!!

Then he spent a large part of dinner time telling me that cooking on the grill is Man's Work & all about how Men Like to Cookout. He had the Adult Saturday for a Man all outlined. Mow the Lawn and do not let the children help. Wash the Car & let the kids help. Cook dinner for everybody on the grill. Watch a movie together.

lol

WOW Great for Jonni. I bet The bay fireworks are spectacular.

Mine were nice. And the weather was perfect!!!

Merme wow that was quite a story. I am so glad a nice person was chosen to handle "the case". and it was so nice how he delt with it all.--Often reports are what you make them--so bless him, for recognizing that you are a good mother and for making his report reflect that..

maxi's idea of an adult saturday is so cute...when is is grown you should remind him of what he said.

wavy Morning, everybody!!

Yeah, Maxi always makes me chuckle when he discusses how his adult life is going to be. His planned routine for Saturday will probably make his family happy.

When he was about 7 he told me how he was going to manage his career. During the week, he was going to be a doctor to help children. On weekends he'd be a priest. On vacations he'd be a reporter/journalist. And in his spare time, he'd sleep "because I be a lazy man"!

Three simultaneous careers does not a lazy man make, Mr. Maxi. lol

From the perspective of kids, too funny!

Good Morning all,
Love Maxi's routine... he could teach us all a thing or two....
We had a nice 4th, and we got a new family member to boot.. a little early- she was born last night about 8, Mom,Dad and baby Senika are doing fine- she is tiny- a little over 4 lbs but is acting like a full term baby... she came a little over a month early..
Sat night our neighbor up the street put on his usual display... shot off rockets and other illegal fireworks for a couple hours till the police came and put a stop to it, the man is nuts spends a small fortune every yr... and then gets a big tkt on top of it but guess he can afford it... LOL!
Last night we went to Carries and had bbq... then after it finally quit raining we did our legal fireworks- kids did the sparklers and such.. was really nice but I got eaten by the mosquitos... and I used repellant... not fair..
I need to do laundry today and clean up my house- more company coming tomorrow... nephew and family on way back to Georgia they will pick up neice they left here... another bbq with them tomorrow night so need to make a potato salad and a fruit salad.. hope we don't get rained out then too but we do adjust...

Well off to get my house stuff started and whatever else I can get done...
Nana

Congrats on the newest family member, Nana. You are so busy.I may need a nap.
The unexpected company is OK, Tamara. As long as every fly-by-night person doesn't think the treehouse is available every time they don't feel like going home. Jonni better make that clear.
Off to catch a few z's before I move on to the next thing. Making a lot of noise right now would not be nice to the tired people.

Congrats on the new family member Nana! Sorry about your obnoxious neighbor. At least the police come out and stop him. All fireworks are illegal in Seattle but not neighboring cities so people shoot them off all the time, including the really illegal ones they get from the reservations. Unless they start a fire or hurt someone though, the cops just ignore it. Tina, glad the unexpected company isn't too big a deal. We took the kids down to Grandpa's for dinner and fireworks yesterday. They had a good time. It was a little rough for me getting up this morning but I didn't do too bad. I've got extra motivation to work my full hours now. Well, I'm off to get some more work done. It's a short week for me because I have a procedure scheduled on Thursday so I'm only here for a 3 day work week and need to make sure I get everything done. Hope everyone has a good day!

Nana ~ How lovely to have a new little one amongst you all! So glad to hear she is doing well though early.

That visit with your niece seemed to fly by... can't believe it is time for her to go already.

Tam ~ sorry about all your rain dragging you down.

Hopefully it will dry up soon. Or you will cheer up/wake up. Or both! lol

Hi all,
I am tired tonight- to many nights in a row of not going to bed till late... I finished the laundry today..did my ironing and cleaned a little bit.. so am heading to bed really soon... yes the week has gone by fast with Katie... she has been so good and helped when asked too...
We are going to bbq tomorrow for dinner too.. just easier with a big group... and we can eat outside since the weather should be nice, going to make a potato salad .. bake some beans and have hotdogs, brats and burgers... and a fruit salad .. nice hot weather food...
Well I am falling asleep.. Joe is finishing up the kitchen .. I am headed for bed... after I put my baskets of laundry away...
Nite all,
Nana

Good night all. I am shortly heading to bed as well. It was a long day. And Ted has school tomorrow.
