Finally got myself started..made a full top of one today. Of course with some 'Owl blocks' thrown in. What a hard time to find material with owls in it.

[Linked Image]

The color is a little off, it's a softer green than what is showing.

VERY nice, Tamara! The owls are very cute too. I've been seeing lots of owl items around here lately - ever since you wrote that that is what your daughter likes, but none of them are for babies really.

Very Nice! I'm impressed you got it done in one day. How do you plan to quilt it?

Beautiful Tamara. ....I LOVE quilts--just love them.

I can just imagine how proud Julie will be when she is holding her precious baby girl in a quilt that "grandma" made.

We will get to see the completed quilt, right???

PS I think you should embroider your name & the date on it.

Thanks all, I did do the top on a machine Dodge, right now I am hand quilting the inside and outside of each block to the lining. Then I'll add the backing and machine quilt it all again.

I can't wait to see the quilt that her boyfriends grandmother(in her 90's) is making..all hand quilted and sewn. They call her Mamere. Well she has been knitting and sewing since she found out, she calls DD everyday. I can't wait to see and show you all what she has been creating luv She is the sweetest lady, an exact replica of my own loving grandma.

Tamara

So nice of you .
I never quilted the 2 together then put the back on . My friend does all 3 on a loom.

i wish to know what design you do on it to do that .
I may try your version on pillows.. I make lots of those for fun.

I want to see grannys also ..Take a photo of it when you see it. Glad some one is down to earth on here.

Aw how sweet. I cannot wait to see both of them either.

One day I will dig out the quilt that my DH's Great Aunt Sophie (she raised my FIL) made for Valarie when she was a small baby. I embroidered the squares for the top & I then gave them to her & she made valarie a quilt as a gift. It is all hand done.

It is pink though lol

Just finished the quilt, I sewed one layer of quilt batting by hand to the top by tiny stitches around each square..then added another layer of batting then machine quilted it together.

It makes the quilt 'puffy' that way grin

That is a fast and easy way to get the binding on isn't it? The baby that gets that quilt is very lucky!

Thank you all...

Jayhawk the wrap around way is so quick...that is when I remember to cut the backing 2 inches wider all around lol

I used to have a large roll of quilt binding but have used it all up and haven't been able to find any more. A shop here(closed now) used to sell it. They'd take a roll of material and get it cut in slices 6 inches wide. You could then buy the 'roll of binding' smart people.
