Yes, Carol Jean, I did have a good Holiday weekend, but it seemed to go by too quickly.

Today was the hottest day yet, so everyone tried to keep cool. Going to and from dialysis was difficult because my driver didn't know how to cool the van properly & it only cooled off as we were turning onto our road! It had felt like a long haul from Biddeford in a stuffy hot van.

Maxi's buddy Dom is spending the night. I am always glad when he is around because he is good company for Maxi & they seem to understand & put up with each other's moods.

Tomorrow I have appointments and errands... doctor, grocery, a trip to Wal-Mart, paying bills.... oh fun.

I wish it would rain.

Wow, what a night! Last one here in the night; first one here in the morning! I'm going to speak to my doc today about better pain management.

So sorry you are in so much discomfort Merme kissie

Today I have a lot to do also, if it really does not rain. The lawn needs to be cut and weed wacked..and I want to finish the hand quilting on the baby quilt today also.

According to the weather people, the entire East Coast is in this nasty heat wave & they are giving tips on procedures to protect yourself & how to conserve energy at the same time.... I think they always worry about brown outs/black outs at times like this. It isn't supposed to break here until the weekend.

One of my friends at dialysis passed away & I am very sad for the family. They had been married 52 years. He was so sick, he was ready. But it is still sad.

My girl is here, gotta go!

Sorry for the loss of friends Merme and Carol.

Hey they say a heat wave is heading for us Tina..nothing compared to what you get but compared to what we get..wow. They are giving emergency broadcasts for people to prepare themselves for it..buy bottled water, conserve power so we get no black outs and such. On a good note, maybe I'll see tomatoes this year lol Not too often we see it hit 100* but here it comes.

Waiting for my grass to dry..I want to get out there and get at it.

We're also expecting a heat wave this week. Supposed to get into the 90's, which is going to be quite the shocker since we've barely even seen the 70's this year. Guess I should try to run in the morning since I'm definitely not acclimated to the heat. I really should try and tackle the grass but don't know where to start. My own fault for letting it get so bad. I'll see what I can so with it this weekend. I better get to work, have a great day and stay cool.

91 here too, and I have no idea what the heat index is.

But I know it is nasty outside.

P.S. It got to 93 today--& it waited until well after 4pm to do it--vrazy.....

Hi everybody!

Today -- oh, what a busy day, out and about in that heat!

It was scorching out there today, it really was, particularly in the afternoon.

There has been a forecast for rain tonight and a cooling off.... I hope that is accurate!

Today I bought Maxi a big desk for his room. I got it second hand for 1/2 price... what a deal!! It is a computer desk and set up perfectly for him.... 48 long x 25 deep. It should fit just right under his window, between the chest of drawers and TV although he might have to move the TV down a little bit.

I also found him a cool desk lamp. The base has compartments for pens & small items & it swivels. Also, the base has an outlet to plug other small items in such as his chargers for cell or iPod. It is in shades of blue.

I got stuck buying my groceries at Wal-Mart although I hadn't meant to do that. I had meant to only go to Wal-Mart for the non-food items I needed & then go to my favorite grocery for everything else. But when we got on the turnpike, my girl turned the wrong way and so we had to go 1/2 an hour south before we could turn around! So that screwed us up entirely in terms of my schedule so we ended up at Wal-Mart to do everything and still ran out of time. Too much running up & down the turnpike. I can't stand disorganization!

But I hate Wal-Mart's produce department! I don't know about where you are, but our Wal-Mart's do not have nice produce departments.

Then when I was looking at my receipt after I got home, I saw two prices had been rung up incorrectly!

Maxi grilled our dinner tonight. I made vegetable kabobs & he cooked them plus the meat. I ended up doing a few fried potatoes because there just wasn't time for anything else. I defrosted some chicken pieces so he can grill those tomorrow night.

It didn't get too hot today, about 78 but that's a good 10 degrees higher than what we were used to and all of a sudden. It's supposed to peak at around 95 by Thursday and then go back down to the 80's. I love the sun but it can stay below 80 for my purposes. Oh well, other's have it worse so I shouldn't complain too much. Besides, I have a car that has a/c now. grin I'm all set for my yummy omelet in the morning and then it's no food for me until after my procedure on Thursday. rspb Aros is bored so we're going to go drive around in my car for a bit. Have a good night!

Good morning all, supposed to hit past 100 here today with the humidity yikes

Sorry about the Wal-Mart trip Merme..here they do not sell produce in their stores...bring your receipt back in next time.

Cheryl, saying a little prayer that everything is o.k. I see you mentioned the word 'procedure' prayers

I have no clue what to do today...mind you if it gets that hot here, we'll be seeing some thunder storms anyway.

That is pretty cold for the time of year, Nana. I hope it dries enough for your lawn to get done.
None of our Walmarts have produce or meat beyond a few deli selections and some frozen dinners. They did just expand them to carry a little more in the canned goods and bread departments and bigger freezers. Before they never had much more than the local convenience stores. But I love my local grocery store so I am good with what is available there.

Good after noon everyone. I took my MIL to the hearing aide Dr today.
Then I went to see about my Kitchen Aide hand mixer. Well, I could not find the one I wanted. one day soon I will try to find it in the Penneys catelog.--

I guess I should look it up online first to make sure I know what i am talking about, huh???

merme, in the wal-marts around here that have grocery's have fairly decient produce, one jsut has to be careful. I do agree about the meat though--they like to sell it on or past the "good by" date around here---
it has been overcast off & on all day here, but now it is thundering & lighten ing here off & on as well.
I guess soon I should shut down the computer.

Yup, it is summer. Yup, it is hot.

You can't fool me!

lol

We have those Wal-Mart Supercenters and they have gigantic grocery sections. Most of those stores have three entrances so you can enter down by grocery, enter in the middle by housewares/clothes, or enter at the far end for outdoor things. Most people try to do one or the other on a Wal-Mart run & don't often get groceries plus regular items (like furniture), but I live 30 minutes away from any Wal-Mart & my rides are iffy at best, so I gotta do what I gotta do.

It makes for a long Wal-Mart run, though. And if I am buying both food & a bunch of non-food items, I always get two carts so I'm not putting food on top of clothes & window fans and whatnot.

Some of these stores are so goshdarn big many people I know can't walk the entire thing. Which isn't all that unlikely when you realize the store is 208,000 square feet and has 222 skylights to cut down on energy costs while making its cavernous design much brighter.

Today was a long day.

Is that 45 minute drive on your way to see your new grandbaby, Tamara? Might be worthwhile then. They built a Walmart about 10 minutes away. It is nicer than the 30 minutes it took to get to the nearest before but I am not thrilled with 'town' moving closer and closer to my pretty rural area.

It costs $150 return with my truck...
