I have to go again. it rained again but has stopped for now.
DH has gone out to start the grill for our country ribs (he says I do not have enough meat to warrent starting up the smoker)
so now I must go and look busy in the kitchen, else he will get upset.
\Lordy this man needs a JOB !!!--or at least a reason to get him out of this house.

Oh my, weather is crazy everywhere this yr... it't still cool here .. only
72 right now but cloudy.. so feels good... all the humidity has made me achy though- don't like that part.. supposed to start warming up again tomorrow...
Carrie called a while ago and wanted us to go get her mouse traps= guess the rain drove a whole bunch of them in , brave ones that come right up and out in the day time... so went and got her some and she is busy pulling out the fridge and cabinets to set them... ugh- hate the thought of mice!

Boys were bored today- to wet to let them out- kind of drizzeled most of day.. sun came out long enough to make it sticky and now it's on it's way down..maybe I do need some vitamin D... hopefully week after next will get a lot...

Well off to find some dinner - gotta finish up leftovers... may just eat a baked tater.. top it with brocolli and cheese...

It's too hot, this stinks...I never ever want to go to the southern part of the world where heat like this is normal. All the kids and elderly are getting sick..strange how one's body just can't tolerate what they are not used too.

It certainly is kicking in the blooms on plants though, time for pics later..

It is funny, Tamara. In the summer here is often when we have some of the worst blooms. And worst looking plants in general. No matter how much you water it is often only enough to keep the plants alive for next season. Blooms fry before they get a chance to show off. Everything that is not in the line of fire for watering begins to brown off. It is a rough season because of the heat. Even getting out to move sprinkler positions or turn on the next set is hard to do.
That being said, my mild temperatures are still in effect and I am not complaining at all.

Yes Tam, lots of elderly & children get sick in drastic weather (hot or cold) but even a typical adult can as well if she is not careful to stay hydrated & limit exposure to the sun or over exertion in it. Heat stroke is no fun.

That's one big reason why I moved so far north -- to get away from blistering hot summer weather.

Yesterday Maxi's desk was delivered and they set it up in his room. It is big -- 48 in wide -- and so it barely fits in the space we have for it. Hopefully when we move his room will be arranged differently & large items will fit better. This room's configuration was of course based on the placement of closet doors & electric outlets & the fact that his keyboard can't be on an outside wall. Fairly limiting!

Anyway, the desk is in and he is very pleased. The next thing will be to get him a suitable desk chair. For now he is sitting in his big rocker which is way too low for serious work at a desk but pretty daggone comfy otherwise!

Today, though, he is a Kid On An Important Shopping Mission! He left a short while ago to go purchase a laptop!

We've been researching and browsing the world of laptops & their kin for more than a year and yesterday we found a very sweet deal that I doubt I could beat anywhere. So, he is off and running! This sale only lasts until tomorrow so he got up with hot feet to shop today.

My favorite local greenhouse closes this Sunday for the rest of the season so I'm glad we were able to get our shopping there finished yesterday. I was very very careful NOT to go there myself, knowing I would throw Budget Caution to the wind once I saw her glorious plants.... I sent my Weekday Girl w/ my list. She, of course, stuck to the list and wasn't tempted to stray from it! So, we got the tomatoes & green peppers we wanted. YAY!

I know if I had gone, all the sweet faces of those flowers would have been calling me to bring them home, too!

I have started the Great Paper Sort Out & Throw Away. Sigh. I've needed to do it for a long time but man, is it ever tedious! But there is no way I'm moving files of paperwork I haven't used in several years and no longer need. So, the sort out!

They have forecast rain storms beginning tonight. But I've been hearing that for days and they haven't happened yet, so we'll see.

Oh those garden nurseries are awful aren't they I am waiting for a clearance shopping trip as well, hopefully next week. Glad you got your peppers and tomatoes.

I was on a roll today, once I sat down...my energy went out the window

I came in to have a coffee and decided to eat something. That is usually when my 'drive' drives away without me. But I am on my way back out with my rake or something while it is still cool.

I covered myself in sun block but never thought about my neck...I already have small water blisters forming. Cripes I'm stupid..

Well, I slept in today. Not surprising since the nap I took yesterday had me up late last night. Got a lot done yesterday though. I had my appointment in the morning and I also did all the laundry, we went to Sam's club and did the regular grocery shopping. Today I have to pick up my paycheck and go deposit it. Usually I have direct deposit but I changed it so for this pay period I get a real check. Then I just have a couple errands to run and then it's clean up the Subaru time and hopefully get it sold this weekend. After Aros wakes up I'll wash the sheets too. We get the kids today and Aros is letting the girls have friends sleep over here later this week. This will be the first time having other kids sleep in our house. We're also thinking of going to the outdoor pool sometime this week. Seattle only has two outdoor pools and one of them is a saltwater pool that is about a half an hour away. The other pool is much closer. We love going there in the summer, makes it feel more summery when you can swim under the sunshine. My tube of sunscreen is almost halfway gone already so I should probably buy another. No burns so far, I've been really good. I suppose I should start getting ready and get my errands done early so I can get my old car ready to go. See you all later!

I rarely use sunscreen or lotion of any kind. I also stay out of the sun as much as possible. My immediate yard is so shady I have a hard time finding enough sun for plants that need a little. I have poked holes in the canopy as much as I can for a little light and some air. But I don't want too much either.
A little further away from my house, I have taken down some trees and some have died so I have a little more sunlight to play with there. But I am only personally there before the sun is fully up or fully down. No sun for me.

It's taking forever for any trees to grow in my yard, it was once a hay field...so I am in full sun except for the front of my house by a couple of feet. I never used to burn before but the past few years have been terrible.

108* and climbing...now I'm in the ice-cream

come here. AFTER I soak you in the shower for say 20 minutes, I'll feed you italian ices.
anmd I'll make DH turn up the A/C. (He would for company)

I took a cold shower twice today..

It's cooling down some with the rain..only 108* now.

Everyone here is amazed with this crazy weather, we get sickly heat then rain storms every evening.

BTW...what are italian ices?

kinda like a ice pop (popsicle in a plastic container) only to my notion they do not freeze as hard & so are easier to eat...Bottom line--it is cold..which is a good thing in heat.

well no not really---you can hold tehm but they break off when yo bit them much easier than the ice pops they sell in the plastic rectangular package things.
I will take a photo for you when they are frozen well.

Tam, unlike slushies, Italian ices are a solid. They are of an extraordinarily fine ice and not all bumpy like a slushie or sno cone. They have very delicate flavors, too. They are sold in small containers which remind me of yogurt containers only they are cardboard instead of plastic and have the flat peel off lid.

Well, our Cowboy Pork Chops were half way through on the grill when we ran out of gas! And we do not have a replacement tank! So, Maxi brought them inside and now they are in my big oven. And we've been using the grill all week because it is too hot for the oven! If I had known I didn't have enough gas, I would have made us a cold supper! Go figure.

Oh before I forget, Tam, if you soak a hand towel in either vinegar or cold tea, wring it out, and place it over the burned area, it will pull the heat out of your skin. When the towel warms up, dunk it again and put it back on the skin. Keep going ... put it on, warm it up, take it off, dunk again, wring it out, put it on again....

If you do not significantly cool down your skin, it will keep burning through the night & your burn will be much worse tomorrow than it is today. And please do not apply anything greasy to yourself.... just think of fried chicken and you'll understand why not!

I rubbed some 'baby butt cream' on it for now...DD's things are still here.

I found pomegranate popsicles yesterday and they are super yummy! Got the subaru all cleaned up and ready to sell. Hope someone buys it this weekend.

Yes Tamara cool it off before you blister worse- the vinigar will take the heat out - use it on the kids when they start to turn pink... I think you are gettng our usual weather up there- don't know whose we have but we wore coats on the 4th... crazy for here...

We used to run out of propane all the time- finally found a gauge for the tank and now we know when it will happen...and we bbq so much we always have a full backup... got tired of having to run and try to find a place to fill one when we were in the middle of cooking.

Well I am off to hit the bath tub and go to bed early- am tired -
