Hi Tamara. I have people come by to chat sometimes. I will stop for a minute or two but I do go back to working. I say I need to get things done while my energy levels hold up and they seem to understand. If anyone hung around I would probably hand them a pair of work gloves and point. Nobody hangs long enough though. lol

Hi Tina. lol well my family is ignorant. I was outside cutting grass..I stopped for a sec, next thing I know they just walked into my house..so I had to follow.

My mother and I haven't been seeing eye to eye either this past week, and I've just had enough..sometimes I wish I lived in a whole other province with no family around.

lol Tamara, sometimes you can't seem to get a break! lol

I woke up hungry today and decided I was cooking dinner early, for mid-day. So I made some Johnny Marzetti and a big garden salad w/ fresh items from a friend's garden. Maxi thought it was a little odd to be fed dinner at lunch time, but he loved every bite!

When I grew up and began to settle, I bought my mother's house. For many years it was the gathering place when any of my 4 sibs and their families were visiting. It was where they grew up. So a lot of family came and went. I had storage for all of them too. Well, I moved out of there and up here in the booonies next to a different type of 'lifestyle'. My sibs and cousins and all are not nearly as comfortable coming to visit me. I am pretty happy with my choices. grin

Good afternoon! I live far enough away from my mom and brother so that we can see each other when we want but only when the drive works with our schedule. I'm states away from the family I don't like. Works for me. I'm done with everything at work and am putting my foot up for a bit. Time for new work shoes. We still haven't gotten the report, was supposed to be done yesterday. The waiting is killing me. Talked to my docs office today, I have barrettes esophagus. Otherwise known as chronic inflammation. I'll probably need to get back on acid reflux meds long term. Darn, and I thought I was doing alright controlling my acid reflux with my diet. Not good enough apparently. I'm still waiting to hear back from the doctor as to what to do next. In forcing myself to go running today. I need it and the weather has cooled off again so I don't have any good excuses not to go. See you all later!

Hi all..Well got my grass cut, I finished it in the rain..I waited long enough.

My S-i-l's and B-i-l live all next door to me, one to the front side, one to the back side and one in the back. Then most of my dads family live 10 minutes walk West of me and most of my moms family live a 10 minute walk East of me....need I say more? No wonder DD moved 3 hours away.

Hope you get the reflux under control Cheryl, rest those feet.

Take care of yourself, Cheryl. You have done wonders already. Between the non-smoking, running, and diet, you know you are healthier. But it will not cure everything. You are doing very well.

well I wish my grass were cut. Rod spent yesterday cutting valarie's grass instead. The next few days are supposed to be bad,- weather wise. They are strongly suggesting postponing outdoor projects.
Today he has been practicing Tig welding. Once upon a time his friend said Rod was the best Tig Welder in the area--but he has not done much for years, & so is "rusty".
anyone got any stainless steel he could practice on???-- lol

-Now about my family.

For all the years the girls were growing up, we lived in the same town as my in-laws. My parents live less that 15 minutes away to the east.(if you are driving a car).
My sister/cousin/nephews are 15 minutes away to the north..

until say last year my brother lived in the same town with my parents. he now lives about 30 mintes away to the south--closer to my girls than us.

The girls both live about 35 minutes away to the south. They are in the same town. THEY live about 5 minutes apart from each other.

Valarie is making noises about her boyfriend wanting to move back home by HIS family---sooner rather than later---which is 3 hours away from here. THIS town is down an inter-state that is too many lanes for me to handle driving. I am beside myself---Perhaps if she does move, we will retire down in that direction closer to her than we are now. Her suggestion.

my youngest has told her sister that her DH is looking at a civilian job with the military when he returns home from Bahrain, Apparently it is VERY far from here. As in a different state.
Apparently my DD likes to travel--and she must have forgotten that she was so homesick that she wanted even ME to come visit her when they lived in california for a year. rolz lol

LOL! love the everyone is either close or far away from family- we moved here and all our kids followed , then multiplied... so hubby and I figure if we move to AZ they will all follow eventually...we are close to our immediate family- kids and grands- all the rest are all over the country now... so who knows what will happen later on.
We got our shopping done today for the trip... except for food and ice- will do that Sat.. got all the odds and ends stuff though..
It was hot today- 99* or so.. but has cooled off now- so it's nice.. Joe is outside spraying the baby cottonwoods coming up from the olds ones roots .. we have to spray them to get rid of them..
We are going to make some fish for dinner , with a baked tater.. and some veggies- trying not to make anything with a lot of leftovers... want to clean out the fridge mostly for while we are gone..
Well gotta go and see what else I can get done tonight...

Tonight I had to type up some recipes for baked goods w/ fruit in them for a friend who doesn't bake much but wants to try -- especially with the fruit in season now.

Also I had the chance for a long conversation w/ my friend Steve in PA. He was my 10th grade Bio II teacher and we made friends. He & his wife have been like a part of the family ever since. He just retired from teaching (after 40 years) and is now looking at opportunities to teach special sciences at the college level. Once a teacher, always a teacher, I guess!

But their very best news is that his wife Bonnie had corrective eye surgery in April and May. Not only did they do cataracts for her, but they corrected her severe astigmatism. And for the first time in her life, practically, she doesn't have to get up first thing in the morning & put in hard contact lenses just so she can see where she is going! I'm so happy for her!! It's changed her life.

I ended up having hot milk and toast for my dinner. That'll help me sleep for sure.

Good morning, everybody!

I was asleep for an entire 2 1/2 hours. Then shoulder pain and a torrential downpour woke me up! I got up to find Maxi also awakened by the rain. It probably didn't help me any staying asleep that I had that song "Ghost Riders In The Sky" running through my head! Yippee ki-ay, yippee ki-ohhh...

Geez, how random is that?! lol

Now that song is going to stick with me for the day lol

We had power interruptions and power surges all evening and through the night. These storms are sure hanging on..the ground is so wet that the water just sits there, it can't absorb anymore. More flooding in places again, thankfully we sit a little higher.

Oh and I thought my weather was bad but out west in Alberta, a little place called Jasper got 8 inches of snow yesterday zoink maybe the rain isn't so bad after all haha

Another rainy day today, hoping I can make a trip to DD's tomorrow. I NEED to get the baby's things there soon.

Well Tam, now you got me singing John Denver's song "up in a meadow in Jasper Alberta, two men and four ponies on a long lonesome ride to see the high country and learn of her people...." lol

We got three inches of rain last night. It was quite something.

Now I have a pan of potatoes and onions frying on the stove in some EVOO, and in a bit I will add some eggs. I start them out frying, then turn them down when the pan is good and hot and slap a lid on so they steam....

Mmm, potatoes and onions fried up are delicious.

We share the same weather, it has been just awful lately. Next year I think I will change my veggie plot to a raised bed..it is just waterlogged at the moment. tears

Anything fun planned for today?

BTW..I like John Denver, that song was nice.

Nope, Wednesdays aren't fun days for me. I have dialysis. Tomorrow, though, we plan to go to the beach and get some serious grocery shopping done! Maxi has to get in plenty of beach time this week because he goes to his dad's on Sunday for three weeks. He'll be home on weekends, though.

The last few days he has been learning a program on line about how to animate stick figures. It really takes some doing! He'll work for 2 hours to get a clip that lasts a few seconds. But he loves animation, so doesn't mind the work.

It amuses me because although he doesn't know it, I spent much time in my teen years drawing stick figures as if they were animated.... I drew them individually.

We've been sharing music favorites again and yesterday I introduced him to the Smothers Brothers humor which got them fired back in the day. He cracked up as I knew he would.

I remember doing that also..page after page, then flipping them so they would 'move' grin

Well Tam, as much as we dislike doing all of our gardening in containers these days, perhaps it has turned out for the best because of all the rain. An in-ground garden would probably be as saturated as yours! So I'm thinking your raised beds next year are probably a great idea!

Maxi has tomatoes, sweet green peppers, cucumbers, squash and beans growing and several flowers too. We kept it small this year because of the pending move.

I think I'll get DH to haul me a couple loads of topsoil this fall, I can't push in the clutch on the front end loader so I have to depend on him.

How are your plant doing?

Our plants are fine so far.... the benefit of container gardening is the containers drain well, but also, the wind blows on all sides of the container, drying out the soil in a way that can't be done in ground. But to be truthful, a little more sunshine would be better!

I am getting ready to make blueberry buckle tomorrow. It will be so delicious!

hi !! I am in for a few--
I have just finished making a fresh Strawberry pie--out of New Blackberries.
I used a different recipe that I did for the last real strawberry pie that I made. the last one was way too thcik--i think there was an inline misprint in the recipe when it came to the correct amounts of flavored gelatin that was called for..

Dishes hand washed, & second load of clothes in the dryer---and it is just 1pm here--life is good.

Supper will be spaghetti & meat sauce. if I have lettuce we will have that as a side.

I may need to bake something soon. I can put my countertop convection oven outside on the patio. That is why I bought it. It is small but I need to learn to cook some things smaller. Mostly it is just me eating. Or Jonni and I. I cook big most of the time and have things frozen for good summer eating without over heating the house.
Today I moved a lot more wood into the woodshed. And then I raked up a little. But it is hot and I'm done, I think. I will take off in a few to go to a store and then pick up Ted from school. Then probably nap in the heat of the afternoon.

Well, I am home and I have a pot of fish chowder bubbling on the stove. It should be dinner soon.

Maxi sent away for a special pair of vampire fangs and he is so impatient for them to arrive, he could just spit! lol I'm guessing they'll be in tomorrow night's UPS delivery.

I'll probably be back around later.

Hello ...
I am worn out, it was so hot today- and my car ac decided it's not working today at least now well.. the one day I have to go all over....UGH!

I went after boys, including Joseph - he mowed yard for Papa... and we whacked... then Teresa came to watch little boys while I went for my nail appt an did a store run while I was out... came home and could not get cool.. finally got in shower again to cool me down... feel some better... was 98* they said- and humid too...

Joe is watering the yard now- and my roses in front- the transplanting didn's seem to hurt them at all.. they are budding and starting to bloom like crazy...

I made up the boys car totes today- sunglasses- ipods, notebooks,, crayons - pencils... they are small enough to fit next to them in the sets or on the floor.. we have pockets in the seat backs too and drinkholders in the car so think that will work out fairly well for them..

Well off to eat something- go find my book and read a little... want to go to bed early tonight- got to do laundry tomorrow and clean a little bit- do think I have boys but not sure... forgot to ask Carrie if she worked tomorrow-
Nana
