Good morning, Tam!

I'm wondering if your not feeling well first thing in the AM has to do with the awful weather you are having?

Yup, nothing like a bunch of fastidious old ladies to give a kid OCD! lol

Hi Merme,..the weather, funeral, lack of sugar, worrying about DD all adds to it.

Yes, those old ladies learning me how to iron sheets right and fold towels exactly perfect lol I used to iron at my paternal grandmothers with an old stove iron..oh the nasty burns I'd get, but cry to iron again when she'd take it from me touched

My Father in law used to tell me I should have been born to a Mennonite family.. haha

In my younger days I dreamed of living a simpler life and doing it all from scratch. But my old age has me really appreciating the modern conveniences.
Good morning. Waiting on the sun to lighten the morning sky so I can go out and work.

Thank you, Tamara.
I walk outside and swell with pride about all that has been accomplished. Most by my own hand and a little hired. There is so much more to be done. But as my main goal is to get rid of tree litter and fire danger, I am doing well. Second goal is to keep everything I can well watered and damp, more fire retardant work.
There is so much more to be done. I need to pay better attention to feeding plants I do have. And replanting areas I have cleared and can keep watered. Fixing more of my sprinkler systems is also on my to-do list.
I have had help. A lot of my summer would have been spent splitting wood to keep us warm this winter. I have had a wood-splitting fairy (good neighbor) coming to split my wood. I only have to haul and stack it. One side of my woodshed (8 cords) is nearly full. I can probably keep plenty warm this year with that.
I am so grateful for the help I've had. And grateful for the moderate weather.
Now when I walk back into my house, that prideful swelling deflates. I need to do more things to my house than have been getting done. From repair to painting to cleaning and sorting and tossing. It is a wash.
I am also grateful for my health that allows such things to get done.

kissie to all your helpers. It's a lot of work being a woman on your own, my mother struggles with things and she is so stubborn to help, it's a hard situation. Your time is better spent right now on your yard..honestly a clean/fixed house is no good to you if it burns in a forest fire.

Maybe this winter you can get some things repaired/organized in your house.then you'll feel better in the spring. thumbup

I have bread dough rising..it's a start.

I did spend part of last winter organizing inside my house. There is just so much to do. This winter I plan on painting some of it. At the very least, one large room.

WOW ladies. you both seem to be hard at work today.
Tina yes you have accomplished a LOT this summer. I also agree with Tamara---work on the inside of the house this winter. It will wait I promise. lol
Tamara---hey, at least you had good teachers, right???
ya know--Julie is young--she will do what is needed when the time comes. Children have a way of making one do what they should after all, plus, she definately knows how---she has watched you work after all. not to mention all she has to do is call for advice.

I just got up at 10---but with being up earlier I still only got 8 hrs sleep.

going here in a few to jump in the shower. Then I have house work to do.
its life back to normal now---it feels good though.

howdy all! I haven't been on the g.h. in months. hope everyone is well.
I made some compost tea last weekend and had some mixed results so I thought I'd research on the 'right' way to do it. ha ha. I've searched on the internet and now I'm gonna poke around on here and see what I can find.
everybody, ready for the weekend?

Welcome home, Cricket.
I am so glad Rod is back to work, Carol. For your bank account and for your sanity. You will not understand the relief I felt when I read that this morning. The unemployment of so many has me very stressed.

Thank you so much Tina. kissie I too am relieved. They say right now this will just be for 4-6 weeks but that they are hoping to have more work orders by then---and I am hoping this way we can go back on unemployment. Looks like a win win situation to me.

Welcome back, Cricket. WE missed you.

going off to work now--bye wavy

Any good finds Merme?

I am not liking the storm that is moving in on us at the moment, usually they come from below(Merme sends them to us grin )but this one is coming from above and off the waters..these are the ones that send us the tornadoes usually nervous

Not really good finds yet, Tam. But I did get a chance to map out several excellent neighborhoods which will make the hunt that much easier. YAY!

Please take a caution in the approaching storm, Tam. Don't wanna lose you to Oz as Dorothy already reported to us enough about it and we don't need you making the same trip in a spinning house!

I only had 2 hours of sleep last night because of severe pain in my foot. I gotta go lay me down for a bit.

Good morning..

OMG it is beautiful outside, it has cooled down drastically and there's a heavy wind, feels just like an October morning luv Calling for no rain today..

I've been outside washing a horse harness, still soaking..my gosh whoever had this horse, sure worked him hard in the mud. He's going to enjoy it here. DH had him out last night, he is so gentle yet so strong...scary strong. He wants to run when he feels a load behind him. Too used to hauling heavy weights.

Good Morning tamara wavy You are due for some nicer weather.

that is good to hear about him, tamara. Gentle/strong is good.
He will be one happy horse to be living with you. Sounds like his work load will be less than he is used to. Glad to hear that you think he will work out so well.

I will hope that Mick is the horse to stay.

I do not like these early mornings.--which is strange because when I was younger I was a morning person, even when I stayed up late.
I guess I am going to have to eitehr go back to bed for a while in the mornings or go to bed earlier, huh???

for today I think I will go and make some coffee. thumbup

well I have some grocery shopping to do, and a few appointments to make.

On my way to do the errands I will stop by & drop off some $$ for valarie./ that girl, I could strangle her!! she was short on money but did she ask us for some--nope !! she just scrambles around for enough change to put gas in the car to come over for supper. Didnt say a word when she was here . Only reason I know is she was telling a friend on FB about it.
Things will get better for her this next month. she has finally rented out her basement to a family member of a family member--got that?? A young girl that will be going to college this fall.

after your deadheading what is up for you???

kissie for helping Valarie..it's hard to see your kids struggle.

Not sure on the plans, DH only works til lunch time. I'm doing laundry right now, still have to finish washing the horse harness, the dead heading, some shed clean up...then after that I have no clue. There is lots to do just feel like getting out today.

A woman opened a quilting supply shop a 15 minute drive from here, haven't been there yet. Everyone say's she's ridiculously expensive but I'd like to go sneak a peak. I need a half meter of material to go with what I have to make 'baby's curtains'..can't see a half meter being over $10, well I hope not anyway.

Need to go finish up some chores, ttyl.

yes about Valarie. she is a proud person. I have several times just handed her items from the house so she could sell them on E-bay. I figure she would feel better about getting $$ this way. Her Boyfrind tries to help also, but she does not often let him. But like I say here shortly things will get easier for her.

That sounds like you will have a lot accomplished when it is all done. thumbup

well since the weather is nice & DH is going to be off--a day out sounds good. There will be plenty of time to stay home this winter.
I cannot see how that much material could be more than that either.
I wish you luck on that. here's hoping she has just the perfect piece.

Here is hoping she wants some knowledgeable help a couple days a week, Tamara. That could be even nicer.
Good morning. I am getting ready to grab a first cup. Going to be around 90 today. I am liking this couple of weeks not having to drive Ted to school and miss some of the cool working weather in the mornings.

She is absolutely not hiring anyone else, it is run by her alone and her mother helps out when she wants time off. Trust me Tina..I jumped onto that idea when I heard she was planning on opening it...I know her mother well, so she knows where to call if they change their mind. thumbup

Have a good day Tina.

I keep coming back to the computer every half hour to check on if DD sent me any messages, her due date is coming closer...especially since the elderly ladies promise me she is going into labor for the full moon haha on the 25th.

First babies choose their own times. Heck, all babies choose.
I have been up on the hill raking piles as the sun rose. Just needed another cup of coffee before moving more tree litter.

Hi everybody!

Wow, I've had a very busy morning.

But the good thing is, I put together the casserole for dinner tonight so all I have to do when I get home from dialysis is bake it off. And, I made blueberry muffins w/ fresh blueberries using a new recipe which calls for 1 1/2 c finely ground corn flakes. They are delicious! So I packed some up to give to friends at dialysis & packed some others up for my Weekday Girl & her husband and that leaves just a few for me 'n Maxi.... the perfect quantity for us.

Now I must dash off but I'll be back later today.

If any of you are Merle Haggard fans, tune in to your PBS channel tonight. Look it up for your local times but they are doing a biography of him & I've heard he speaks all the way through it and it is wonderful.

See you all later!

Merme: good luck with dialysis. Your supper sounds yummy.

Tina: Glad you are going to be able to work out in the cool for a few weeks. hopefully that will afford you enough time to get the majority of it done.

Tamara: Oh my---this is an exciting time for you. and yes with my first I was
8 days over and with my second I was 12 days early. I think I too would be at the computer constantly were I in your shoes.

It is 90 now but will get to 96 they say. I do not even want to know what the heat index is going to be. rolz Why cant it be fall year round??? We could grow flowers in cooler temps, right???

Valarie just left. I loaded her up with a few things for her float trip this weekend. I am on my way out to do my errands now.

So, I am wondering what a float trip is?
I did pretty much all of my raking and piling up of stuff. As I sit here my piles are being removed. Thank Goodness for the help! Most of the rest of my raking will be finessing some missed edges. I am feeling safer and safer every day from a random wildfire that may sweep by. And from a random cigarette butt someone may flip as they enjoy my scenery. I still have to go out and change sprinklers around.

Tamara, I would be constantly checking too, now that it's so close.

Tina, you've made a lot of progress, must feel good to know that your home is safe.

Carol, I'm a lot like your DD, I hate to ask for help.

Merme, now you got me thinking about what I can put into a casserole to eat.

Eventually I'm going to make steak and eggs for breakfast. Except for me, I'll skip the steak part. I also have laundry to start on today, allergy shots to get, have to take Aros to the bank, and should get a new pump for the fish tank since ours sounds like it's on its last leg all of a sudden. Aros's mom was supposed to fly in last night but they had severe weather that put 10 inches of water on the runway and cancelled all flights. The soonest she could get another flight was Saturday. The kids are a bit bummed that she's getting here later but there's nothing we can do but except it. My next race is this Sunday, a 10K for ovarian cancer research. It's supposed to get to 90 on Sunday so I'm glad I'll be running at 8am when it's still nice and cool. Don't know what we're having for dinner tonight since our plans have changed. Something quick and cheap I'm sure.
