Howdy,

My wife and I are just now looking into having a garden, and I've been trying to familiarize myself with the various plants in our yard. Some I've ID'd with the help of an old book (very limited, I need another with better pics) but there's one I can't find anywhere, even on the Net. I'm sure it's common, so I'm hoping someone here can tell me what it is. It's low to the ground, seems to prefer shade (but is seen in the sun) and the leaves seem to get only 2-3" across at the biggest. I've never noticed any kind of flowers with it - only these leaves. I've taken a pic and put it on photobucket if anyone wants to take a look. Thanks much for any input!

welcome to the forum, Don.
it could be a member of the Ivy family, hard to tell? it looks like you removed the leaves for the pic. a picture with the leaves attached to the plant might make it easier to id.
we have a forum tittled 'mystery plants'. maybe someone will move this topic for you. you will get more results there.
good luck and hope you enjoy this site.

Welcome, Don.
I think it might be Creeping Charlie, aka ground ivy or gill-over-the-ground (Glechoma bederacea). Considered a pretty noxious weed by many because it is hard to get rid of.

Thanks, now I can start to look it up - I was hoping it's edible (seriously).

If it is, I have never heard of it.
I do collect info on edible native plants in my area. I love knowing that stuff.
