I had a very excited little boy when we got home today. There was a big box that was almost too heavy for him to lift. Bill, you know just the right thing to send to Brennan. He loves and cherishes every rock you've ever given him. As soon as he picked that box up, he grinned and said, "It's rocks! I know it's rocks!" He took his time inspecting each and every one as he took them out of the box.

This one amazed him. Not only could he see what was beside him while he looked forward, but everything has a rainbow around it.



He wanted me to ask you what the round pink one is called.



He thought it was really cool because it looks like a bouncy ball but it's a rock (those were his cute words). And yeah, he was tickled that you did throw the bouncy ball in there also.

Thank you. He loves everything a bunch. He's sitting in the floor playing his Nintendo right now with a $5 bill and a blue saran wrap wad of change sitting next to him.

His birthday is the 24th. Can you believe he is turning 11 and going into 6th grade all ready? He's grown up.

I think Brennan and Bill are kindred spirits. Even before he knew Bill he was so interested in the neat stuff that Bill likes also. He followed Bill around Cedar Hill in amazement when we were there. He always talks about how he wishes Cindy Granny hadn't been sick and we could have "had fun looking for rocks n stuff". He wants to dig for rubies in the backyard.

Yeah...I hate that I was in a freakin' coma when you guys had to fly 3,000 miles to see me.

...I just did that coma thing to see if you guys would fly to Washington!

...all coma jokes aside now...

Hey, don't even go there. We had tickets before you pulled the old coma trick....we just had to move it up a few days.

We're just grateful every single day that we got to keep you. Now Brennan is getting ready to have another birthday with you. As much as it broke my heart while you were sick the part that hurt the most was thinking Brennan would have to grow up without you, without knowing every single thing about you like I do. I want him to have all the super cool, crazy, front row at the concert, up all night watching meteor showers kinda stuff that I had with you.

Sooo...does that mean I have permission to take him to the midnight showing of "Rocky Horror" this year...

...and dress him up as Riff Raff...?

Actually.....all jokes aside.....that made me cry.

I'm so happy I will be with Brennan on his birthday this year.
I thank God for that every day.

We just came in from Swift Tuttle meteor watching. Sarah even went out with us!

Yes Mommy, you can dress Brennan up and take him to RHPS. He rocks the heels. He may wanna be Frank. OH! Or Rocky in his gold undies! I should probably quit drinking now.

Brennan is growing us so fast..hard to believe it when you see the pics every year.

That is rose Quartz that spent a long time in a rock tumbler... (not mine)
The crystals that look like fish scales are Calcite.
The purple crystal is an Amethyst
I was told but can't remember the name of the deep green rock.
The tubular Granite thing was a core sample...

That deep green rock is Probably Malachite. I, too, have been addicted to crystals and gemstones since I was a kid. In the Army, I took courses in lapidary and jewelry making. I learned to cut cabochons, to facet, to do lost wax casting of silver and gold, and to do silver soldering. I designed and created my own silver settings and cut and set the stones to go in it. My wife's and my favorite shows are the jewelry channels.

Cool birthday gift! You're such a sweetie Bill. I haven't seen a pic of Brennan in a while and wow, he really is grown up! My step-son is the same age and also going into 6th grade this year.

Some of these posts almost made me cry, and I don't usually get mushy and teary so that's saying something. So glad you'll be there for Brennan's birthday, Granny Cindy. I think of you often.

I can't believe that I don't remember this. It is the day before Jonni's. My baby girl is going to be 19. My oldest daughter just turned 38 last month. They do grow up.
