I didn't cook tonight, which only means it put off until tomorrow. That's okay though. Tomorrow I'll be more prepared and will make sure to drink extra water throughout the day. I'm just waiting for the dryer to finish then I'm off to bed. I'm beat. Sweet dreams!

I did cook but only burgers. Sliced up home grown tomatoes for the side. Called it dinner. I am hoping to get to bed at a decent hour and sleep through. I am a little sorry for the good nap I had today though.

Good morning, everybody! They are forecasting big T-storms today beginning around 3, so I'll be coming home from dialysis up the turnpike in the middle of it! I went to bed very early last night & slept all night. That's so great. This morning must be busier than I like Monday's to be but that is the way of it at times. I have to go out on errands and I really do not like to do that on dialysis days but tomorrow is our trip up north & so things must get done today. We are leaving at 7:30 AM to go up to Camden, so everything has to be done that needs done today.

Morning Merme...yup and those thunderstorms are heading for us after you are done with them. Haying is all finished for this year..a big relief. Today is a mop and clean day and this week is a 'get the seasoned wood in the shed' week.

Yes, it is very sad about Thorny's wife, Tam.
They say the storms won't be here til 3 PM, but it is very dark out there anyway!
I gotta jump in the shower earlier today than normal because I have those errands.
Tam I am glad your haying is completed for this year.
Gotta go! See you all later!

Good morning. I have been moving split wood into my shed all summer, Tamara. It is our only heat source and we use a lot. How much wood do you need to move? It is to be triple digits again today so I am looking at not moving around too much if I can help it. I need a few things from a store while I am pretending to be a school bus for Ted.

when we lived out of town we used 17 pick-up loads of wood to heat the house from the fall until the first of April. It was a lot of work, but boy did I love the heat. in my opinion wood heat is just the best there is. sorry about the heat Tina. we are in for a cool speel or soi they say--nopw when I say cool, I mean like 83 & 84 on Tuesday & Wednesday & 87 on Thursday. but it is not 100 + I guess. Merme, have a good day... Tamara. good to have you back. Off to do some household chores---

Just 5 cords to move Tina..and another 5 cords to cut next month. Our house is so small that it heats easily..it's our only source of heat also. Finally making some head way here..even my cupboards are all upside down. Wondering if DH borrowed someones two year old while I was gone to tear apart everything?

My house is large-ish and John accused me of burning 10 cords a year. I will have a good idea how accurate that is this year when he isn't here to toss wood in. I know we burnt less than that last year. But it was pretty mild though wet. I have eight cords put in the shed so far.

A truck load is way less than a cord..probably two large truckloads per cord. My mom burns 12 cords..her house is too big and old with high ceilings.
Got my house back in order..the yard is next but it's raining outside.

Yes my home is not sealed well and drafty. Carol, a cord measures 4 ft. by 4 ft. by 8 ft. A cord picture is here. So a heaping standard truck bed holds about half a cord depending how it is stacked in there. My woodshed holds 8 cords on each side. One side is about full up to the rafters. And getting ready to start stacking on the other side. I am ready for the worst of my winter this year. But my winters are milder than yours.

That is a lot of wood, Tina. We lept ours stacked up out in our barn lot. we then moved in enough to feed the stove with for 2 days give or take.
Rod worked afternoons & he would fill up the shed before he left for work--then I would feed teh stove until he got home at night. That way we always had dry wood to put inot our stove. I always like dwhen we had oak or some other hard wood, because it made my work a lot easier. I guess it kept me in shape though.
Sad to say that my bones could not do it now though. So perhaps it is best that we moved.
Bless the boy he has talked of putting in a wood burning stove into the basement for me---the heat would rise ya know---but I do not think our intown neighbors would approve of all of the smoke, so I will jsut do without.
You girls enjoy the heat for me, OK??? I miss it. 70 with wood heat is far warmer than 70 from gas.

I have been so on the run all day today & with these t-storms in the area, I've got a splitting headache. It is going to be a very busy night, too. I am envious of all the talk of cords of wood! I so want a place which heats by a wood stove or at least has a fireplace. I hate this hot air/all electric home. Carol, while I love wood burning things, I still think my favorite heat is hot water through the radiators. It can take much care to keep it going well, but talk about your cozy warm! Haven't had any like that in years. Maxi made me a small turkey/cheese/lettuce sandwich just now when I came in. I was starving! It was sweet of him to do. The kid makes a good sandwich.

That was so nice to hear that maxi made you a sandwich. Personally I think food that someone else makes always tastes better. The food a loved one makes you tastes even better. I have never had water heat---but I bet it is wonderful as well I am so tired, but the weather is better today--still warm but not near the humidity

No stoves of any kind burning here today. It is 94 and rising on my shady back porch. And 98 and rising on my shady front porch. It is over 100 out in the sun. And warmer down in town. I have Ted home now and I will nap through the rest of the heat.
