I did it.....I cracked open my bottle of Beam!

I haven't bought a bottle of Jim Beam in a VERY long time...probably over a year, believe it or not.

...I had a bad day at the doctor yesterday and stopped at Liquor World.

around here there is a chain called "Dirt Cheap Liquor"

It also sells cigs.

We have a Liquor World here in Dallas ,, across the street is another liquor store called Big Daddys,

I grew up in PA and in PA all liquor stores are owned by the Liquor Control Board -- the State! So they are all called "State Stores". I never knew stores that sold booze in other places were called different names until I grew up & started to travel. I'd be in some city and ask "where is the nearest State Store?" and no one would know what I meant. So the State Stores sell wine & liquor but not beer. Beer is sold only at beverage stores & only by the case. And, some restaurants have a license to sell 6 packs. Recently, a few State Stores have been added inside grocery stores but that is still unusual there. You have to be 21 to enter a State Store.

Up here in Maine, the laws are more casual & liquor, beer, and wine are sold in many locations -- even the grocery!

we have liquor store here, privateky owned--and it is sold in grocery stores & even in Wal-marts & other same types of stores. It is even sold in the grocery part of gas stations.
You can buy 6 packs--12, 18 & 24 packs. and in some stores (if they so wish to carry it,) there are single containers--but they are usually large, say qt. size. Some bottle some can.

I'm in the "Bible Belt" as they call it.
I live in a "dry" county.
I have to drive at least 70 miles (through 4 counties) for a can of beer...or a bottle of Jim Beam, since I don't drink beer.

But...I am pretty much stocked up now til the next doctor appointment next week.....

h--so do you need someone to talk to on the drive or while you are waiitng for your appointment time???
