I am home again and Maxi finally just came in the door. He was picked up over an hour ago from a location that should have taken 20 minutes to arrive home from. They got on the expressway and ran into a huge traffic snarl and sat for a very long time. Unfortunately, it was a 9 car pileup which had to be cleared. Dinner is in the oven and I'm glad the kid is home. And I'm very glad he and our friend weren't in that accident!

Well, dinner is over, homework is done, and the kitchen is tidied up for a good start tomorrow. I hate waking up to a messy kitchen! Maxi is fast asleep. I got a call tonight that his third school shirt is FINALLY ready to be picked up at the store. Phew! It didn't really take that long to replace, but it seemed like a long time with him wearing only the two. Blue, yellow, blue, yellow... now he gets to add white to the mix! Next week I am ordering him two more and I think I'll get the vest for his birthday which is early in October. Today Maxi received letters from two of his teachers at his old school. They are busting to know how he is doing at Cheverus. And of course, they miss him terribly as he was in that school from 4th grade 'til now. True, he would have been down the road at the high school this year anyway, but they feel as though they've lost connection with him. He is planning a visit the first day he has time off! Yesterday I wrote the manager of my dialysis unit about a complaint on an issue that arose recently and I thought the staff was handling it in an unfair manner by showing vast favoritism to a patient who loses his temper easily & yells at everyone. Favoritism by itself isn't so bad & I may not have said anything, but when the favoritism led them to cater to his whims at everyone else's expense, I had to speak up. I'm glad I did! I was greeted at the door with the news that the situation had been resolved and that things would be handled in the equitable way they had been in the past. I also brought that mean guy a gift that someone had given me a long time ago when I struggled with the overly bright lights there. The manager thought it was nice of me to do for him, as they agreed it would probably help him as it had helped me. But he didn't even say 'thanks'. Well, my job was to give the gift, not to be responsible for the response!! I like the nurse manager of our unit because, among other things, she listens very carefully. Early to bed for me tonight as I'm terribly uncomfortable after 5 hours in that dialysis chair. Tomorrow I see the back specialist again, YAY!

sorry I was gone so long--I was talking to my DD and then I jumped into the tub. Tomorrow I am going to go to breakfast wit my friend who is making my youngest DD a T-Shirt quilt. If all goes as expected The quilr will be done by the time my SIL gets home from Bahrain. THAT will make my youngest very happy. Other than that I guess I will do some housework ( yuk)

When you are done with your house you are welcome to come help with mine, Carol. It is a disaster area. But I am saving it all for winter when I will be stuck inside more. I am sure it will wait for me. I am getting sleepy so I will be heading towards my pillows soon. Good night all.

Good Morning..save me some bacon, yum. Sun is shining already, nice to see. Today I must start putting my dried winter's wood into the shed...I have 5 cords to put away and it's calling for nasty rain/wind storms for Friday/Saturday. I have enough tarps to cover half the rows but not all. So you know where I'll be all day Hoping everyone has a great day today for the 1st day of Fall

Good morning, Tam! I had to chuckle at you and your 5 cords of wood to put away! That is much wood! My good friend was just telling me they have 8 cords to store before the weather changes & I think she & her husband are doing it themselves, little by little. Right now it is all just lining both sides of the driveway. We have a sunny day here, too. I love this weather.

Hi Merme, I should have had the wood in by the first of August but baby put me behind in chores I'll put in what I can today..I figure if I start at 10 am and work til 8 PM I should have a major part of it done.. Next month we need to go cut next years wood...a never ending process. The weather is beautiful..no flies. I think that's the real reason why I like the Fall..cause I certainly don't like the snow that comes behind it We'll be seeing flurries in a couple of weeks.

Good Morning !!
Tamara--you sure will be busy---that is a lot of work for one day.
DH used to do it all summer & fall. But he usually cut down dead wood so he did not have to let it dry. But there were the few times----that always went out in our Pasture to dry for the year & would have to be brought up into the yward for the next season. we left it out in the weather & one of us would breing in enough for a few days fire tending & store it in teh smokehouse. As he worked afternoons he would try to guess waht i would need--buty often I would be out in some snow storm bringing in wood so it would dry off--
going to get ready to leave here in a few--I'll see everyone later today---

This is why I work on wood all year long. I don't want to do it in one big, achy chunk of labor. I have about 8 cords in the woodshed for my winter. I hope it is enough. I have another few cords that need splitting and some of it need a little further cutting. Good morning. I don't like the heat of summer. But I do like the the longer days. I want daylight early again. .

Good morning! I remembered my coffee today. Busy day at work, Thursdays usually are. Tomorrow I have to help Aros clean part of the garage because we're supposed to pick up the kids packed boxes from their mom. We don't even know if she's going to be there or if she'll just leave the boxes out. I doubt she'll be there it we'll see. The girls have 2 swim meets in the next 2 days, they're going to be tired but at least it's the weekend. I'm waiting for our weather to turn wet and icky but it's been beautiful the last couple days. My boss gave me a gift card yesterday as a thank you for being so wonderful and taking on extra responsibilities and just in general for everything I do. That was really nice and very unexpected, so I bought a pair of running/yoga pants and a new running shirt. Aros had a great birthday. I cooked him a 1.5 pound NY steak, grilled shrimp, sauteed mushrooms, fresh green beans sauteed in butter, my creamy Italian salad, and fettucine alfredo. He ended up saving 1/2 his steak but everything else got eaten up. The kids thought the shrimp was an extra treat, I don't usually cook shrimp for them due to price. I found a french silk pie which was also was he asked for. The kids bought him2 new coffe mugs and two 12 packs of hersheys with almonds. He's a happy man.

Glad you had a great celebration Cheryl, so sweet of your boss to treat you to a gift card..well deserved. I wish I could work in my wood earlier but it takes so long to dry out here with our weather, we cut in October and it's usually only ready to put in the following August..any earlier and it sizzles and smokes instead of burning. Break time for lunch..wish I had some of Aros's chocolate bars

Where is your wood going 'in' Tamara? Mine goes into a woodshed with a tin roof and chainlink sides. It has a dirt floor but we have 2X6 boards across it to keep the wood off of the dirt. There are some slabs of old plywood leaning up against the sides to keep out blowing or splashing rain. But there is a lot of air flow in there. My wood is about ready to burn within 6 months. But most of the wood I am burning is older. I have been out lopping more branches again. Making more piles to pick up and haul to the green waste dump. I am taking a break.

Good morning BTW. Sounds like SPRINGTIME to me! Hi everybody! I just got home after a very busy day. Having a late lunch of tabouli & brusitto and queen olives and a few crackers with some feta cheese. I am too tired to actually cook anything! Cheryl congratulations on receiving the gift card. That was lovely of your boss to recognize you like that. And your celebration for Aros sounds great! I could almost taste that yummy dinner just reading your post.

Where is your wood going 'in' Tamara?
My wood goes into a separate shed space attached to my old shed..it's just a rough lumbered building built around cedar poles. (that needs another coat of paint), the wood part just has a dirt floor also. The building really needs siding, someday when we have the extra $. (honestly it needs to be torn down and a decent one put up ) I've been at it for almost 10 hours and got a little over 4 cords put in and piled..the shed is full My hands are aching badly but it is worth it..I am gonna cover the rest of the pile and take from that this Fall until the snow stops me.. I never even started supper yet and it's 7:30...good gosh, good thing DH is gonna be home late tonight.

Four cords is a lot of wood to move. Congratulations! My shed has two sides and each holds 8 cords even for 16 cords in all. I only have one side almost full. I burn about 10 cords a year (according to John). I know we burned much less last year. I will have a better idea this year as I will be the one keeping track. I need to work on getting more in. But I can do that off and on all year as I don't have the weather you do. Eventually I will have to buy wood. I am not looking forward to that so much. I don't have the access or the skills to collect it like John used to. I am getting a little hungry. Trying to decide what I might like to eat.

Wow, Tam, you accomplished much today! Good going, girl! Dinner is over. I haven't started the tidy-up yet. I'm still sorta just sitting here, drinking coffee, and daydreaming. I made a big mistake today by going in the grocery store starving. I had meant to grab some McD's before shopping, but I got impatient and decided to eat after. MISTAKE! I had only meant to spend about $20 in the grocery and I spent $60 instead! Bye bye to my McD's lunch!

yep---that is a lot of wood---warm wonderful wood. orry about the grocery store incident, merme. I have found that if I want to save $$ at the grocery I either ned to stay out of it, or send my DH for me---HE gets just waht is on my list--while I on the other hand tend to shop the sales... Greys is on and I am having a hard time watching the season opener. I will be back later to talk if anyone is around

My downfall in the grocery store is the produce dept. I can't resist all those lovely fruits and vegetables! I also get carried away in the bulk section.... a scoop of this, a little half scoop of that.... I forgot to buy creamer for my coffee, so tonight I put a spoonful of chocolate ice cream in my cup. That is yummy!

But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Glad you like it, Diane! You are the only one who's noticed. Thanks! I have an important letter to compose to my primary care physician, so I have to sign off for tonight. Maxi is off school tomorrow and is up later than I like him to be.

There was a bulk section at a grocery store around here once upon a time. I loved it!! I esp remember them having spinach skoodles. my 30 yr old was a small child then & I would buy them for her lunch. SHE thought she was getting to eat noodles & butter for lunch & I knew she was getting spinach. It was a win-win. Alas we have none around now. Merme: I noticed your new sig line--I just didn't comment. Likly I am not alone in that. Good luck with your letter---

Carol I have never heard of spinach skoodles but they sound GREAT!! Too bad about there not being a bulk section near you any more. I love it! Some couscous, a scoop of brown rice, a scoop or so of special granola, a half-scoop of yogurt covered prezetls for Maxi, mebbe some soy nuts or peanuts.... oh man, I DO get carried away! I completed my letter but will not print it out until tomorrow morning when I can reread & edit it if need be with a clearer, less sleepy head. I am just frustrated because I requested a referral to a pain management team more than a month ago and this office has given me a massive amount of runaround about it and still no referral!! What's on your schedule for tomorrow Carol?

Well MI left my day open in case I was asked to go to my sister's eye appointment with her--but as she has someone already lined up, I really don't know for sure---BUT I had promised to try to paint some flowers on my cousin's lamp another color---so If she is free tomorrow I may do that. Nothing much else--and you ????

Painting might be fun; something creative for you to do instead of the constant running errands.
Tomorrow I have to get Maxi packed up and organized for his retreat and then I leave for dialysis at 11. I don't like returning to an empty house but we arranged that my girl will come in the evening rather than the morning so that will be nice.
Maxi helped me get caught up on the laundry today so I don't have to worry about it for tomorrow.

about the painting--yes it will be something different and it is always good to visit my cousin.
Sorry about maxi being gone but then it was a good thought to have someone there in his absense, Good thinking!!!
also glad to hear that your laundry is caught up & out of the way.-

I am about ready to turn in. It is getting late for this early bird. Tomorrow I need to shop for a few things for the weekend. I plan on staying home and hiding from the heat and from the crowded roads around me all weekend.

Yes and we had quite a TO-DO this morning about the laundry! On Monday I had given the previous girl (who got fired) three pair of Maxi's school pants. I had shown her how to fold them & place them on a hanger to protect the crease & then had hung them & handed them to her to hang on the rack above the dryer where Maxi & I could easily reach them. When I handed them to her, I turned away & didn't see what she did with them. Well, this morning I told Maxi his pants were hanging above the dryer. No, they are not! In your closet? Nope. My closet? Nope! Where in the world could she have put them? They were already on hangers when I handed them to her, so she wouldn't have stuck them in a drawer? We searched & searched & then Maxi put on a pair from his closet he didn't really want to wear. And I got a sudden idea to look BEHIND some things hanging above the dryer... far to the left where I can't see or even really reach. I stood up, leaned way to the left, and could just manage to pull some things aside and saw his three pair of pants hanging back there, well hidden! I couldn't believe it! Neither Maxi or I could reach those pants. So my new girl today climbed up on a chair and got them down for us & hung them where we could reach. We all think the other girl did that on purpose. So I LIKE the laundry done & accounted for and ready to go as needed. Well, Maxi finally went to bed. I shouldn't be up much later myself.
