This is photo of Emmy Diane sent me Friday night. Look close at the gray spot on her back that was shaved for Stitches. She is almost back to normal now. That spot plus others on her belly and sides little girl was pretty well chewed up. She sent another one but wont post it. lol

I've just spoken with Diane. Apparently Emmy has a broken shoulder that no one detected in her xrays before this past Firday, when Diane took her back to the vet because Emmy was in pain when walking. The vet looked at the xrays after Diane requested it, and said it is badly broken and is only really hanging on by ligaments and cartiledge and needs surgery. The costs for the surgery are way beyond what Diane can afford right now, and the only alternative is to cage Emmy for about 6 months!!! She's on strong meds and is not really her spunky self. She's only allowed out of the cage to quickly go outside to relieve herself. Poor baby! Diane will probably have to take the pit bull's owner to small claims court to settle all this, but doesn't know when that might happen. Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks! OH - one bright spot Diane told me - her Christmas cactus is blooming - first time it ever bloomed for Chrstmas she said!

I'm glad y'all were able to be together today. A good Christmas Dinner is always a treat!
We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Hi just wanted to give you an update on Emmy. As you've already been told Emmy's wounds are healing nicely. here is a view of her most tragic wounds,,, it was basically shoulder to shoulder. Her Right shoulder is still broken -separated and at an angle, so a bone specialist would have to do surgery at the tune of over 3,000 $ . I cannot afford that so the only other option is to keep her crated for 4-6 months only allowing her to get out to relieve her self OR to lay her on the couch or bed as long as someone is with her so she doesn't get up and move around too much.In Hopes that it will heal enough on it's own tho she would walk with a gimp for the rest of her life. Understanding she would have to try to walk some now to stimulate her bowls. She also has a hernia which I'm saying money for to have done ASAP! so I really have to watch her reliving her self and take notes of how often and how much. Her spirit has certainly come back tho she is somewhat sedated by the meds she is on. She has a 2 hour window, that she doesn't take meds that I get to see her shining though this was taken in her two hour window,, (BTW this is taken with the cell phone camera),, Emmy has lost 2.5 lbs during this she has says she eats a lot and other days she doesn't want to eat at all, but she does drink plenty of water which is very good! Keep Emmy in your prayers that her shoulder doesn't receive any further damage, and her hernia doesn't doesn't get worse before I can afford her surgery,,

The Vet said Because of the position of the break a splint wouldn't do any good,, it looks more like this,I/ the break isn't parallel from the top of the arm to the shoulder- while the top of the shoulder is still is position the top of the arm is at a slant it would have to be moved back and into position before it could be slinged. BTW animal control did "put down" the pitbull that did this,, there was a record of history of attacks from that pitbull, I WILL have to take the owners to small claims court to retrieve moneys for vet bills it may be 6 months down the road.

I am SOOOOOOO very glad to hear that the pit6 bull was put down---now to get teh owner to pay for the vet bills---I so wish yoi could get Emmys surgery done now---- PS: MY vet also did a hernia operastion for us while he was doing another sugery---for like a small amount extra--he gacve us a "2-fer price.
it would not hurt to ask-
] I dont suppose he would do a payment plan until you could get this settled in court???

I don't know Dodge,, For the most part they only put down a pit when it attacks Humans,, this Pit had attacked other animals in the past,, and the owner didn't want to pay for Emmy's treatments,, total cost would be near $5,000 so because of refusal to contribute to Emmy and Past history with attacks with animals they put it down,

I gave Emmy a bath last night she seemed to enjoys it, when I poured the warm water over her shoulder she grinned , so the warm water must have felt good. she only has one pain med left to take and take it until it runs out. Finally off of antibiotics took her last one this morning, but I still use the ointment for her one wound still healing and put a little on her scars to soften as some of her hair grows back.

Diane--your coment on Emmy liking the bath made me think-----would she lay still for you to put a warm pack on her?/ buy say 2 pounds of regular rice & then sew up a bag made of good fleece (perhaps 2 layers thick??) pour rhwe ricwe in & then machine sew it closed.----evently distribute the rice---then put it in the Microwave for a minute io r 2 (you will have to see how long it takes to get to the proper temerature, so that it will be warm to the touch for Emmy but not burn her.
I have one and use it often---I keep it in the freezer as it can also be a cold pack----but my mom uses hers to warm her body when driving in the car while her heater warms the car.
that may make her feel better, but as I say make sure t hat it does not heat up to much, so sweet Emmy is not burned.

Thanks for the Suggestion Carol,, But I do have a Doggy heating pad for her,, She really used it a lot when she got home. Dr said to start taking her off the heating pad and wean her from the pain meds, only one pain med left probably a weeks worth left she lays on a fleece throw and I change it out every 3 days for her cleanliness - seems since she was attacked she likes to bury her nose in blankets, and this past week she has been really clingy to me. If I go out of the room she whines as long as I'm with her she is happy. Tomorrow I go back to work and the kids Christmas Vac is over, so she will be alone all day . Back into the crate she will go,, for 9 hours a day,, < she isn't gonna like it but I have to do it to make sure she doesn't move around while we are gone.
