I left 20 or more alow plants out and they got a good zap of freeze, maybe 22 deg F for about 6 hours +/-. They look pretty bad, any chance they'll come back? Any recommendations to try to slavage them? I'll post a pic if you need for diagnosis/prognosis. Let me know. jb

Welcome, jbin. I am sorry your aloes got such harsh treatment. My aloes are outdoors in the ground and we sometimes get freezes in southern California as well. Most will survive from the roots even if the tops turn to black mush. I only watch them to remove dead growth and continue to treat them as normal as possible otherwise. Sometimes that leaves me with some distorted plants that are odd looking. But those plants continue to produce normal babies (offsets). Good luck with yours and happy New Year!

Thanks Tina, sounds like there's hope. I have quite few that did not suffer the same a abuse. I started with one a few years ago. It must have been a baby machine. Will pay more attention to the weather forcast and keep them covered when there is a freeze warning.

Do you have these in the ground or in pots?
