Can I put guara in a 8 inch terra cotta pot and have it be happy? ALthough not hardy in my zone, the neighbor's overwintered this year. This way I could bring it in during the winter months, maybe put it under the house... Please, let me know! thanks!

I can't see why not. It may not grow as tall as it would if in the garden, but as long as you keep it watered on a regular basis (terra cotta dries out quickly) I think it'll be fine.

You know, I hadn't thought of watering. I'm a notoriously bad waterer. Always forgetting to do it. So I should probably find it a place in the ground after all. thanks Alan!

I've grown guara in an 8 inch pot and it was rootbound but happy as long it had sun and water. Go easy on the food though, maybe use half strength and not often. Gaura is a toughie. It should be OK. I think it's native to Louisiana. Or maybe it was Texas.

I have gaura growing on my hill in the front yard. I just love it. I guess because it's outside it does ok because I never water that hill. The hose won't reach. I saw a picture in a magazine that had a bird bath in a sunny location and guara growing all around it. It was beautiful.
