Today I bought this lovely plant

It is an Oyster Plant.."Tradescantia Spathacea".

and while it is pretty I have read contradicting things about its care. The marker says medium light---one site said it does best in full sun, outdoorsa--another says it likes shade, as in under a pine tree, as it is not particular about its soil. I now do not know what to think.

Does anyone have any consistant information on it ???

These are so pretty, Carol (aka Moses in the cradle). They are a zone 9-11 plant though. So you would need to pull it in for winter. And I think they do best in sun to light shade. I would put it in light shade here in my desert-y climate. I would plant it under a deciduous tree where it may get morning or late afternoon sun but be shaded for the heat of a summer day. But it may take more sun where you live.

I bought it from the houseplant section of my Wal-mart.
I had read where it was hardy to zones 9-11.
But as at best, I would be setting it out in summer, I was wondering how I might care for it as a houseplant the rest of the time ??---

Then put it in a window and water when the top inch or a little less of soil is dry. These thrive on neglect here outdoors but I am not so sure of them as houseplants. I kill house plants unless I can toss them outside.

ok will do----and this summer I think I will put it out in its pot---hopefully I will then get to see the little white flowers it is supposed to show.
