But it just didn't happen.
I know you're supposed to plant tulip bulbs in fall and they bloom in spring, but let's just say I didn't receive the bulbs at a convenient planting time.
So my question is, should I bother planting the bulbs outside NOW? OR once the ground has warmed up, and hope they pop up next spring, OR is it completely hopeless and I should not waste my time?
OR should I plant them in a pot & throw it my refrigerator. Had I know about this option earlier in the year, I would have done so by now... oops.

Thank you thank you thank you
and please be kind : )

You can chill Tulip bulbs in the refrigerator for 4-5 weeks, then plant them in the garden or leave them in pots and set them outside.

The thing is you have a choice of planting or tossing. I figure dumping them into the ground will not hurt anything. And even if they rot away in there they will add to future crops of whatever. And if you get some green growth at all from them that will be a bonus.

I'm with Bill all the way. And although you may only get green growth this year you will most likely get a lovely flower next year. Bulbs actually make the flowers the year before they bloom so if they didn't get what they needed last year you may only get leaves this year. But they could well produce the next year.
