I've gone on two neighborhood bird walks and have learned a lot about where to find birds and about them. I'm suddenly much more into wanting to photograph them. Here a few so far. Great blue heron, perched on top of a tall tree. I've never seen them perched atop a tree like this before. Black capped chickadee. You have to be quick to catch these little guys. I have lots of pics of butts, lol. Male anna's hummingbird. We are very lucky to have these birds, they are here year round. I hope to get lots more photo's as the weather improves. Happy birding! Oh, and I bought my first pair of binoculars too, a must have that I never knew was a must have before.

It's a nikon coolpix p500. It's actually a point and shoot but with manual capabilities and 36x zoom. I'm too poor for a dslr so this is the next best thing that I can afford.
Thanks on the compliments everyone. My mom is buying me a bird bath this year and I can't wait to see them busy in there!

Lynn, we have lots of herons here, as well as lots of places for them to eat from. You should tell your herons to move across country, convince them that it's better on the west.

Well you got terrific shots for a point and shoot! Very nice. Wished I had the Chickadees and hummers year around in Texas! The Chickadees may be around all year, just not at my house. FINALLY got my first hummer of the season day before yesterday! Has anyone noticed anything different with the Cedar Waxwings this year? Mine were a month late getting to their "normal spot" and they are taking their time eating the berries...just different than in years before.
Looking foward to seeing everyones Sprintime Pictures!
