Hi all! I planted a packet of dwarf coreopsis seeds last summer, followed by a lot of rain! I think these are the seedlings, washed down a bit of a slope from where I planted them.


I also have these two DEVIL weeds all over my garden. Can anybody ID them? And if so, are the perennial or annual.

Those could be the coreopsis. There are so many leaf forms with those.
I think the first of your weeds is horehound. The one with the purplish crinkled leaves. I am not sure of the other. But the best cure is to pull them and hopefully before they seed for future years.

Thanks Tina. If it IS coreopsis, boy are they easy to start from seed - I have a ton!

I've pulled THREE wheelbarrows full of those two weeds this spring. It's a big garden, but still that's a lot of weeds, and I do mulch and pull during the summer.

Any other guess anybody on what the weeds are?

Ah - purple dead nettle (lamium). Be gone with you!

Any guesses on the white one?

The bottom one with the white flowers is Hairy Bittercress - Cardamime hirsuta

OOOOOOOOOhhhhhhh! The weed with the purple flowers is truly evil. Hard to get rid of, not really attractive and extremely hardy. Don't know what to tell you, I'm sure there are some ways to get rid of them entirely. On a cheerful note: At least you don't have my biggest problem - woodlice inside and outside my house! The ground is TEEMING with them! Eating tender shoots! Argh!

So - my dwarf coreposis?! Nope - chamomile.
