Hi - I'm brand new to this and don't know A LOT of the basics. I ordered Red Painted Daisies from a catalog & what arrived were little bundles of roots. Do I soak these first? When I plant them, which end goes up? I apologize for the seemingly silly questions, but I guess we all have to start somewhere.

Welcome, lolab.
WE have all been at this stage. You can soak those roots to separate them. Then study them a little. When they are separate you should be able to see the starting point where the roots grow somewhat down from and a 'bud' at the top. That bud is the crown of the plant. You want to plant that with the crown pretty even with the top of the soil.
Good luck!
