'morning all! We are to be in the mid-80's today - 10 degrees above normal. Sunday is going to be near 90 - a nice day for going to a holiday BBQ, and thankfully these friends have lots of shade in their backyard!
What's everyone doing for this holiday weekend?

We aren't doing anything special this weekend. The weather is supposed to be cool and cloudy with a chance of rain. In the last two months we have had only a couple of days that have been above normal for this time of year. We have consistently been below normal temps and I'm getting quite sick of 50 degree weather.
I went to bed with a tickle in my chest, hoping it was just allergies. It's still there, along with a cough. Blah.

We have also been below our norms and damper. But I am trying hard not to complain about it. I know a brutal summer will follow and I will miss the cool. I am still trying to clean house. I may be up to spring cleaning 2008?

Just came inside from working on the front foundation bushes. We've dug up the more than 30 year old bushes, saved the 3 best ones, and I will plant 5 new junipers after I finally have breakfast at 2:30pm here! The sun is intense, and much water drinking is necessary today.

sounds very busy and tiring Lynne 30 yr old bushes Had to be a chore to get out I bet you sleep good tonight Tonight is Tre's 8th grade graduation dance. I'm waiting for him to get home, one of the Mother's in his group of friends is driving a bunch of them home. He has really had a great year this year and I know he will miss some of his friends. He won't be going to the same high school as they next year. With his personality he will have great new Friends at his High school next year! I'm really proud of him, He has excelled in both Advanced Placement Math and Science classes. He only missed 1 in math and 2 in science on his Taks tests . He was awarded and recognized in both subjects as well! I'm sooooooo proud of him :ding:

Congratulations to Tre,- Diane--you all must be very proud !!!! The next 4 years will just fly by trust me--- Lynne-----that is a lot of work to get thru--I agree with Diane, I bet you sleep well tonight... This weekernd-- well tonight I came home to find a new Keurig coffee maker all set up in my house---My youngest DD & her DH bought it for us. Then tonight Rod & I went to take some flowers to put on my father's grave--& then we went to my grandparent's grave & Rod drilled holes into the vases so that the water could drain & would not freeze & bust them this winter---(& he thought of all of this all on his own too---- Tomorow I am going to my oldest DD's & we are going to buy plants--(I hope to get my 3rd water lily then) Then on Sunday we, along with our mother's, are going to My future SIL's to be for a BBQ. (MY oldest's intended--Wedding to be July 30th) Sunday night my youngest & her DH are coming here to spend the night & then we 4 will go to 1 or 2 Memorial Day services that her DH will participate in as he is a member of the local VFW post. Thne we will either cook out at home on Monday if the kids stay around OR Rod & I will go out to my dad's place & he will target shoot, I will read, & then we will BBQ for some meal or another--- sounds like a busy weekend here, now that I read it all--- huh???

Sounds VERY busy, Carol! Have a great time, but remember to pace yourself!
Diane - tell Tre I said Mazel Tov!!! (congrats in Hebrew) He is turning into a fine young man, all with your guidance and love. I have every faith that he will be quite successful in life.
It is so hot and sticky here, and we've put in 2 very long days of gardening already, so I'm not sure if I will even go outside today aside from feeding my fish. I got a pretty good sunburn on my back from wearing a tank top 2 days ago, and am just feeling worn.
Things are looking good here though, and the birds are chirping very happily right now, so it's all worth it.
Hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day Saturday.

Hi, Just stopping in from taking a break from outside,, I've done 5 loads of laundry, baked cornbread, seasoned meats getting them ready for smokin in the morning, made baked beans well, got them ready to put in the oven in the early morning tomorrow Moved the garden arch gate to the front yard, got the hickory woodchips soaking, planted seeds/& flowers, potted flowers, washed off the driveway and side walks. I'm almost done out side, I've been outside off and on since 7 am,, it's getting hot out there now it's supposed to reach the 90's again and tomorrow the same. Whewww I'm wore out and it's only 12:30.. Shoot I need to go get air in one tire it's looking low,, dang I didn't want to go anywhere today,, But I have to go get air For Sure! I don't see anyone on here,, so I'll check back later,

Wow, Diane, I'm tired just reading all of that. Hey everyone. I've been sick all weekend. My first full blown cold in about three years, ugh. I skipped my race yesterday and I feel better except I'm starting to cough more. Hope it clears up quickly.

Feel better, Cindy. Throwing up is the worst.
I finally updated my blog and wrote about my first half marathon, with pics, if anyone is interested. I gotta go switch out the laundry and then I think I'll read for a bit.

Good early morning! Haven't slept all night - too hot and sticky, and we haven't turned on the AC yet. Been catching up on the forums since I was out all day and night yesterday.
We just had a thunderstorm, with heavy rain, so hopefully things will be a bit more bearable today as far as heat and humidity. Plus, things needed to be watered outside - we've planted many bushes and cleaned up a lot the past 3 days, and added the free mulch to the front gardens and foundation plantings. PHEW, that was a lot of hard work!
Cheryl - congrats on your 1/2 marathon, and thanks for sharing your blog with pictures!
Diane - can't wait to see pictures of your new gardens there! Are you going to set up a new Willy Village for the boys? They aren't the only ones who would be looking forward to it, I'm sure!
Carol - how has your weekend gone so far? So many people with lots of plans this weekend!
Cindy - I hope you are feeling much better today.

Good Morning Lynne and Carol I have an area that could be used for a Willy Village, GrandPooBah is already there along with Clove His sister. One Hand likes being inside, the two dogs next door scare him because they are digging under the fence and keep getting in our yard,, We'll see about fixing the fence,, then Maybe just maybe we'll see about having a small community of gnomes starting up again, it could never be the Village it was as many of the gnomes wanted to stay at the Village. It was their home and didn't want to move. Don't Worry I have Plenty to start a new one I took pictures I'll have to get them into Photobucket But PB has been hard to get into these days. I Hope Cindy and Cheryl feel Better too
