How do I prevent gnats from breeding in the soil of my house plants? I was trying to let the top half-inch of soil dry out, by using plant spikes to deep water, but that doesn't seem to be working anymore and I am running out of spikes.

Does anyone have any other ideas? I am being overrun... HELP!

What kind of gnats are these?

If it is those fruit bugs, just spray the soil with a mixture of water with a little soap detergent. That works. Also, try to water less.

If you want, remove the plant from it's pot, use fresh soil and rinse the root ball.
