First off, hello Im brand new to this and am excited to meet other garden enthusiast. Im am somewhat of a new gardener, I started years ago wth tons of house plants then went to annuals outside. Now at our new house I have done a woodland type garden due to so much shade.

However, in one area I have a couple of privet plants. Young, only about 18" tall so far but something is eating the leaves. I haven't seen any bugs but whatever it is its munching on all of it. Does anyone have a clue what it could be and how I could get rid of it without using nasty chemicals. BTW Im in SW Idaho if that helps narrow down the culprit.

Any help would be appreciated!
thanks

Pamela~

Welcome, pam. Have you checked those privets out at night with a flashlight? Some bugs completely disappear in daylight, like vine weevils. And they like privets. They will look a little like black ladybugs. But anything eating your leaves will be more noticeable at night. Rabbits, etc.

No I hadnt thought of that.
But I do believe I saw a bug like u are speaking of near them around a different plant. I will try that tonite. My hope is that knowing what they are will help me get rid of them.
Thank you very much for the suggestion.
