I am still frying. And looking at 3 more full months of this weather. I will try not to whine too much. Today I did not get a nap. So I will head out to bed early.
But it was a very good day. Got things done that needed doing and one of my golf carts is good to use now. The other should be ready in a week or two. And I have sold the third. So I am good to go for now. I sure missed the carts. They make gardening on my hillside so much easier when I'm hauling stuff. The carts don't get everywhere on the hills but they help me haul things to our green waste dump and to our dumpster and things. And just checking the mail or visiting neighbors is easier. My son likes to ride with me too.

Hi everyone!

We've been having beautiful weather here, in the 70's, now that the rains have stopped. For a while, anyway! lol

The kid and I are busy. We have half of the POD unloaded. Maxi needs a couple of men to help him with the rest of the heavy items.

Meanwhile, we've been taking walks in the evenings or early morning. We are delighted because we didn't have sidewalks at our previous address & I couldn't walk anywhere. This is far better!

I plan to get an oil delivery on Tuesday so I can have hot water...it is tough to heat up enough on the stove. And time consuming.

See you all tomorrow after dialysis.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Well, Teddy spent about 45 minutes in his last day of summer school before I picked him up and brought him home. He was not thrilled to be left there because I had not packed him a lunch. So I drove through for a cheeseburger, fries and a vanilla shake for him and we had a good time.
I have been outdoors messing with water and sprinklers and taking my snare with me when I do go out. It is a busy snake season after an extra long wet/cold season for us. I need to make a couple more snares to have in different places around the house. Sometimes 3 is not enough.

Mine are aluminum poles with a fishing line run through them. (From old tools, usually.) A thick line or some weedeater line so they are stiff enough to push without folding inside the tube. Strategic holes drilled near the top and bottom for the line to be let out and let in with a loop to hold on top and a loop on the bottom. It is the easiest way to catch a snake without riling him up. You can usually slip the loop over a head pretty easily. Then draw it tight enough to hold without harming.
Snakes of any kind basking in the sun tend to freak out the visitors to the resort next door. I usually just relocate benign ones around my house for a little help with critter control. Rattlers are a different story. If I can get them a few miles away into the wilderness I will relocate. If I am having issues dealing with them (big ones), they are toast.
Animal control people use similar snares for animals of all kinds to keep them out of biting range. My loop on the bottom is just smaller for snakes. A bigger animal would tear up my lightweight poles.

Bill, Im thrilled to hear that you fixed them. I'm going to go back now and see all the stuff I missed. Thank you very much.

Tina, you are a brave woman, I'm so terrified of snakes I could never even think about snaring them. uhuhh It's funny I like frogs and lizards and even think mice are cute and I don't want to kill them but snakes are a different story all together. It makes me shiver to think about em.

We had a thunderstorm yesterday that brought some of the strongest winds I've ever seen around here. Lots of broken stems on my plants. The only good thing is that it brought cooler temps today. It's only gonna hit 80 by about 5pm. So thats nice. Good day to get some weeding done and clean up from the storm.

Hope everyones having a good day.

Hi everybody!

I've seen animal control people use poles such as Tina described but I've never tried it myself. Not so sure I'd want to give it a go! lol

"I don't like spiders and snakes...."

Our new landlord is a sweetheart. I called her this morning because we had power surges early in the day which left some outlets seemingly not working. Maxi couldn't find the fuse box in the spooky basement. So she came over to show him how to turn the light on and how to check the fuses. It wasn't the fuses so she decided to call the electrician. (On vacation, which is just as well because all I needed to do was reset the power buttons on our surge protectors.)

While she was here I showed her my broken desk drawer. It was one of those w/ the fold down fronts so you can have your keyboard & mouse in there. The bottom was falling off the drawer & the front wouldn't stay closed. She is a woodworker, so she took it home and did a beautiful, solid repair. I am delighted!

She also gave us permission to repaint the kitchen & to hang a pendant light.

Nice lady!

Gotta go get some dinner... I am starving to death!

It would be very nice to say "EEEK!" and let the menfolk take care of these things. But menfolk are few and far between around here. I no longer want to handle snakes by hand, even simple garter snakes and things. The snare is the way to go and still keep some distance. I do also rid my area of mice, rats and ground squirrels because they are trying to undermine my house and chew up anything under it they can get to. But I like most the rest of the wildlife around. My teenage daughter is also proficient with the snares.
There is so much I cannot do anymore as I age and the arthritis creeps in. I have to call in my friends when I have mechanical things to repair or heavy things to move. If I called them for the piddly things, I'd burn up all my markers.

They are right in front of pit road or pit row or whatever it's called...I doubt if I will see them...too many people there. She is posting pics on Facebook. She bought the tickets off Ebay...then the other day bought tickets for another Nascar Sprint race tomorrow at the same place. Jeremy just got off the plane from Canada this morning at 9am and they left straight for the track...he will be worn out by Sunday.

Tomorrow is the 4th annual Rockstar Mayhem concert a mile down the only exit I have from my house.
the 2011 line-up with DISTURBED, GODSMACK and MEGADETH, joined by MACHINE HEAD, IN FLAMES, TRIVIUM, and many more of today’s most electrifying artists.
This is so not my thing. I will stay holed up here and not even try to leave through the mess. If I needed an ambulance they would send a helicopter, I hope.

So not my thing either. The speakers are all pointed away from me so I cannot really hear any of it unless I shut down everything and really listen hard. I don't want to. My daughter had plans on going to it. I am not sure how those are working out.

Only one I've heard of is Megadeath....seen them years ago. Too "metal" for my taste, even back then.
I'm a Moody Blues junkie...would love to have seen them before Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas left the band.
