I hope you both recover from what is hitting you. I was just trying not to move too much today. I do not do humidity well. I'm about ready to try to shower the sticky off.

Good grief, I can't handle the humidity anymore. I just can't breathe outside when it's humid. Had a pulmonary function test yesterday and the tech was amazed my lungs were in as good a shape as they are since the ARDS...but they are both mildly collapsed.

Sorry, Cindy and Carol, hope you both feel better soon. I had a very busy but very productive day. Went for a short run this morning, got my meds, went grocery shopping with Ashley, took her to the big mall down south to exchange the jeans she got in WI that broke. We hung out a bit there and had a nice frozen yogurt treat. Came home and switched the laundry before doing my strength training exercises, then I made dinner. Made chopped salad and warmed up a loaf of french bread. Now I'm relaxing and waiting for my nail polish to dry.

I am still up but not for long. They have nasty tasting stuff to keep dogs from licking wounds and things, Carol. Maybe a dab of that would cure what ails you.

Good morning, everybody!

I'm sorry so many of you are experiencing high heat. We are at 65 but we do have Irene on the way. It is expected to be here Sunday.

The kid 'n I are mostly prepared which is a good thing as many of the local stores are completely out of bottled water and items such as flashlights and batteries.

Maxi will be home later today and will bring in our outside items so they don't fly off to another town w/ winds expected to be gusting between 60 and 70 mph.

This morning I am going to shop for the last bits of the special diet the dialysis team wants me to have in the house in case treatment must be cancelled on Monday. I am also picking up a few things Maxi will like to eat if we lose power and can't cook.

High tide is supposed to be the worst time tomorrow but we are far enough inland that it won't harm our location. And although we are only 1 block from the river, we are quite uphill from it so I think we will stay quite dry. Of course our parking lot has a big drain in it and during heavy rains it is a wild, gushy whirlpool out there but hey, that is ok if it keeps us dry!

Bill I'm glad you got your page done.

Carol I hope you can adjust to your new meds.

Cindy I hope you feel better soon as well.

Cheryl it is always a treat to read about your life; you all sound like you are making good progress.

Shani it is nice to see you back! Congratulations on your marriage!

I hope you have a great day with Rachel, Cindy. And BT too? He has a birthday right around this time, right? I know his birthday is near my youngest daughter's and she turned 20 on Thursday.
I tried not to have big plans for my day today due to high heat. But I guess my storage trailer will be delivered to me today. I had to go out last night and rearrange my leftover firewood to make sure it could be parked where I want it.

Yes, Jonni was 13 when she first got online. But I think I joined here later when she was 14. She just kept the 13 for a long time and I adopted it for some purposes (easy to remember). Babies grow. My 36 year old son has been spending a lot of time here helping me with some general maintenance that has gotten harder for me to do with age. My oldest daughter will turn 40 next summer. My baby boy will be 18 next spring. We all grow up and then we grow old. I kind of like it all.
Today is laundry until I have to guide my storage trailer into its new parking place.

Well, the dog (& I) finally went to sleep---I just got up at 9:30----luckily that was just enough time to get my bills out to the mail man (who was literally still in my yard).

Thanks for the well wished everyone----

My oldest is 31--(it is her new DH's 31's B-Day today)-
My youngest is 25---& her DH will be 32 in January---

Tina about the bad tasting spray--we have some wound spray that falls under that catagory---and it helps for a few hours but one is only supposed to use it 1 or 2 times a day---I feel a trip to Petsmart is needed here, huh---Which is ok, I guess, as I also need to go to Wal-mart to pick up the Wedding pictures that I was lucky enough to take---

Cindy, have a great day with Rachel---and of course with brennan--(he is coming along too right???)

after I drink my coffee here, I guess I will be going to the grocery store--

I wish everyone affected by this storm a safe day and weekend---
(Merme I hope that Maxi gets home soon)

Cindy normally we just get the tail end or a wing from a hurricane but this time we are right smack dab in the headon path of Irene. Which is why so many people are in panic mode.

I've been in hurricanes enough up and down the East coast to know that panic isn't as helpful as you might think it is. The idea is to stay safe and try not to do anything stupid.

Once I even had to be evacuated off the Outer Bank Islands on the NC shore because of a hurricane. I had hiked in w/ my backpack and was tent camping. During the night big RV's were flipped over. Dunno how my little tent stood up to it though I was in a wind protected shallow spot. That morning they were making everybody leave and I couldn't get off the islands fast enough on foot, so I hitched a ride.

You really don't wanna mess w/ these storms if you can help it!

Hurricanes ain't nothing to mess with. I've been thru so many...in Cuba we got every hurricane...I remember once (when I was 7 years old I think) we were in Cuba and the hurricane was named Inez....so of course my mom blamed it on my dad's mother because her name was Inez.

I have weathered out hurricanes in Cape Hatteras, Nags Head (NC), Cuba, Washington DC, Rhode Island, Norfolk and Virginia Beach (VA) and it was all fun and games to me because I was a kid and the evacs to the shelters were fun because there was so many other kids there to play with. Can't imagine the stress it was for my mom and dad in those times.

Hope Lynne, Merme and Badplanter stay safe.....

if I do manage to find out about it I will let you all know

I have been watching the projected path and thinking of Tamara too. She is in the bulls eye. It is supposed to be a tropical storm by then but nothing to sneeze at. And she is pretty low lying area-wise. Subject to flooding all around.

My family in VA are all okay. Hope we hear from Lynn and Mark that they fared well too. I thought of Tamara as well. I'm at work but it's not a very busy day. There's really only one thing that I need to get done today and it only takes about an hour or so.

Thank you, Carol. I did wonder about Tam. But I also saw the storm was downgrading nicely, too.
I am just back in from my bit of running around today. I ran my van through a car wash, drove through the bank, went to a shoe store, grocery store and drove through McDonald's for Teddy. It is about 100* out there and still rising. I am done.

It's hot here, but this morning we ate outside at the Visitor Center by the interstate before Rachel left and it was so nice and breezy...first time out this summer that I could sit outside and be comfortable. Jeremy bought a bulldog puppy when they were here...I'll have pics later. I'm headed to the chair again......

I laid me down for a snooze. I'm still not moving much. Still too hot. I'm going to run a bath for Ted to cool him down and clean him up for school tomorrow. Our temps are supposed to get better by mid-week. I am too old for this weather for long. I can handle hot but my coolers don't work well in humidity.

I'm not too old and I can't handle that kind of weather anymore. It's hot and muggy in my house and I don't like it. I know it could be worse, but I still don't like it. I'm getting up early to run in the cool temps of the morning, that'll get my day started off right. I ate too much for dinner. Way too much. I'm still a little bloated and burping up spaghetti sauce. It was so good though. Something we don't have often and it was a nice treat.

A common mistake here, just don't go out to check the mail when you have no pants on. teach

Why not? Most of my neighbors do.
It seems cooler here this morning. Maybe I am anticipating the cooler day tomorrow.
I plan on having a very good and very busy week.

today I weill do some laundry and some bookwork of my own--then I have yo be at my MIL's hose to pick her up later this afternoon to take her to the dr for a post-hospitalization check-up.
Cheryl, I hope today is cooler for you

I wish you all a great day----

Good Morning all,
It's a nice cool morning here- 58*.. got my house opened up today... nice after all the really hot days we have had.
Joe did the big kid run the morning.. Carrie changed her hours to later start so she gets the boys to school now.. I will go over to her house this afternoon to meet them after and get homework started and done.. made a batch of pancake/waffle batter to make up for their breakfasts.. letting it rest in fridge for a while so they cook up nice an fluffy...
I hope all our back east friends are staying safe.. been watching the news coverage and it's terrible with all the flooding and all.. mother nature is not being very nice to them for sure...

Well off to start the pancakes and waffle iron going.. may even make a batch or two of banana bread .. who knows...
Nana

I got Ted off to school. I came home and broke down boxes and rolled up a braided rug to take to the dumpster. Tomorrow is collection day so I wanted to get stuff in there before that and while there was empty space.
My older son is cutting more of the suckers for me from the trees. this is partly for my comfort so I can walk by without getting slapped around and partly to keep some clean space to help stop possible fires from spreading. He came in for a break and was impressed because he could see where I had worked on them in prior years.
I got another hose fixed where an animal had chewed it up. I keep water out there for the wild things. I do wish they would leave my hoses alone.
Looking around for what is next before the heat sends me indoors.
