Oops, went over in the last one. Just a little bit.

Good morning. Another hot day in the desert today. But it will cool down for the weekend. Looking forward to that. But the sun is rising so much later in the morning. I am missing my sunrise bits of working outdoors before I have to get Ted to school.

I know!!! I got back from Lexington at 7am this morning and it was still dark. I can't drive at night anymore and I was a nervous wreck the entire way home.

You know....I just love spell-check. wish we had that in school.

I guess we did...it was called a 'dictionary' back in the day.


And, yes, I quoted myself...

yes, yes, you did quote yourself---and I remember when calculators were not allowed in classrooms, never mind there being computers-----but now they tell you what kind of calculator the child has to have and many schools hand out laptops at the beginning of school---oh to be young now----

I learned to spell in school and look up what I may have needed in the dictionary. But I too love spell check. It just doesn't help a lot when people spell a word correctly but the use is incorrect. Like their, there, they're, etc. It can drive an insane person batty. (<--- seasonal pun intended)
I spent some of the day driving my son to and from school and shopping. I also have been going through all of the coats and jackets in the house to keep a few and send the rest to the needy. And I napped a wee bit and played internet for a while. I do not know why I am so tired.

...and I remember when the first calculators came out...they were way over a hundred bucks. Now you get one free with a pack of cigarettes.

I just got so pissed off at Arby's awhile ago on the way home from the hosital...stopped to get 2 roast beef sandwiches and one order of curly fries. It was $16.22!!!!!
I told the girl they should change the 'jingle'. Instead or "it's good mood food" told her I was in a good mood when I got there then a bad mood when she told me the price. I said "It's bad mood food...BAD, BAD MOOD!!!"

Hey! I got my broke ankle xrayed today...I have a disc of the pictures. If anything looks interesting I'll post it. It's the foot with the "weird" toe. That should be interesting...haven't looked at it yet.

I just realized I'm freaking talking to myself and I don't even care because I am a good conversationalist and a good listener!

I am listening. I think it is cool that they can out it in a disc for you.

I just looked at it...nothing intereting. I can see where the "boo boo" is, but they didn't get my beautiful toes in any of the shots.

so are you saying you broke something or jsut messed it up a bit??? HUMMM ????

Looks cracked/chipped to me, but I'm not a radiologist....I just stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.

When I sprained my ankle last year, I would have sworn it was broken. I heard it and felt it snap. But when I was able to drag myself off the hill and into the house, I looked up ankle injuries and decided I had a stage 3 sprain or something. You can hear those snap too. I iced it and raised it and used it as much as I could while it healed. I did use crutches the first week or so, then one for a week or so. I can still 'fee' it too. And have nerve damage still. But I lived to walk again with no doctors involved. And no doctor bills.

Well, I'm not going back to the doctor to get anything done about this...it hurts too bad to have someone 'manipulating' it. I could at least put a little weight on it today before I went to the doctor. It's not swelled too bad or black and blue like when my mom broke a bone in her foot once when she stepped on one of Brennan's toys and fell. If I don't screw with the doctors I will be better faster.

My sprain was black and blue with the most hideous bruise above the toe that is still numb. But it all works. So I am good with it. If you feel anything 'grinding' in there more than usual, maybe another trip for more xrays will be in order. But I agree, if you can use it and just baby it a bit as it heals then go that route, Keep using your walker to help you not to overdo it. And keep it above your heart when you can if it is still swollen. RICE; rest, ice, compression, elevation.

Oh, it makes a hideous noise when I use it...like bones grinding.
When the doctor was squeezing parts of my foot and ankle and she got to "that spot" I said.....well, nevermind, I'm not going to say here what I blurted out in a loud voice in the doctor's office.... I'm sure you know me well enough to imagine what I said.....

I have one of those rice things!!!!! Wooohooooo!!!!! Now I'm going to try to microwave it and not leave a spoon in the microwave...

Good morning. I am thinking today would be a pretty good day to climb up on the roof to do some patching. That is if my older son is well enough to help. His cold was better yesterday. So I have high hopes.

That sounds like fun to me...wish I was there to fall off your roof!

I have insurance for that.

I'm on my way then.......

I carry a home insurance that covers workmen's compensation.
My son is on the roof and I am working indoors. He keeps stomping when he needs something tossed up to him. I really, really appreciate him doing this because he has a fear of heights.
I do hope he doesn't stomp a hole on my roof.

I have no fear of heights.....and I have my own insurance. Let me know if you need me...

I fell once when we had no insurance and as it was sunday, I sure was not going to pay an ER bill--so I waited until monday---My Dr x-rayed me & said no broken bones---but it hurt like the devil for many many months---I finally got it x-rayed again by another dr---it was either a very bad sprain or a hairline fracture--I am told the only way that one can diagnos those is to take an x-ray right after the accident & then again 2 weeks later --if it is a hairline fracture there will be a thin line of white on the second x-ray--(the new bone calcification)---or some such---but my sprain took like over a year and much "not putting too much weight on it for a long time" for it to heal.

You make me glad I take very, very good care of myself. I have a fear of wiping out my small financial empire in one fell swoop. Or in one fall. I am secure only as long as I am healthy. So I work on healthy and safe.

well Tina, we are only good as long as Rod is working...There is little savings & this economy has slashed our retirement...

and oh did I mention that no one will hire me?? because they will not (I have tried many times)---either I am too old or I interview poorly.

I get it, Carol. Times are incredibly tough right now. It is a little scary.
I am a little achy from climbing up and down ladders today. But my roof is patched. At least I hope it works. I won't know for sure until it rains. And that may happen next week.
A cold rain is to move in early for our season. I am not unhappy about that because it helps decrease the fire dangers. But not too happy about the cold part. I will need to bake something.
I still need to climb up and clean out the gutters. Fall is falling all over my roof.
I will bed me down early-ish tonight.

Thanks Tina----I love fall but dislike winter---
if it ever learns to NOT be snowy or icy on the sidewalks or roads then I will not mind that type of weather so much.

I hope that your roof job does not have to be redone--& better to get a triel run now instead of mid-winter---so I hope the rains come soon for you.

I thank the Lord I do not have to do gutters & such--but then I would have to hire it done--you are so fortunate that you are able to & know how to do so much of the things that you do. I would be lost If I were responsible for such as that.

Hey everyone. I've been busy with work and home, as usual. I have finally decided that I really do want to go back to school. I have been unhappy with my job lately and really want to do something else. It's going to take a long time but, hey, I've already waited this long. I've already filled out a federal student aid application and have even bought myself an algebra book and a workbook to practice. If I can get to at least college level math on my own that will save me extra classes to catch up. I should think about getting to bed soon. I'll check in tomorrow.

No sh!t...I have had so many people call me wanting signs/graphics hand painted, but I shake so bad since the coma I can't paint anymore...and I really need the money and would love to paint again.




Cheryl....what do you want to do? After I finally grew up (yeah, I know...you are all laughing because you know I haven't grown up yet.....) I went back to school to be a paramedic. Went through EMT school then to paramedic school (I bet you guys didn't know that...).
Are you thinking something similar or in a whole different business?

That is great, Cheryl. So many colleges offer online classes too. They are not easy but you can do most of them in the comfort of your own home. I have a few friends furthering their degrees this way.
Carol, I only have a single story ranch house. And half of that has a berm around it so I can prop a ladder easily and only climb about 5 ft up at about a 45 degree angle. The roof is gently peaked in the middle but the rest of it is nearly flat with just enough angle to shed water. I live in an area where you don't have to worry about much ice build up so roofs can be flatter. You could manage my roof and gutter cleaning. It doesn't take skills, tools or any really hard stuff.
But that flatter roof also collects the pine needles and leaves from the surrounding trees more readily than a sharply angled roof. So some sweeping or raking is in order. And cleaning of the gutters is a universal thing. I like to keep up on it all for fire reasons.
And that is on my agenda for tomorrow. Sweet dreams all.
