So I am wondering what is up with facebook?!? All of a sudden, tonight, I had many "suggested friends" who were all members here on the gardenhelper many many years ago, whom I've lost touch with over the years. People whom I do not have mutual friends with there, and I can't understand where they are getting these connections from. It's all very "BIG brother" to me, and is kind of creeping me out!!!

Anyone else finding this lately?

well, I do not---did you check your privacy settings---I found that every once in awhile you should go check them---they seem to "somehow" get changed back to where a person will have less sucurity.

I never been on it Facebook.
But cant anyone just read Garden helper pages an see the names listed an know who to contact.............
Not hard to remember the pen names for folks......But I notice if you mention something ( say .. rototiller) you get emails an ads quickly from them. Some of the boards must be free to all to see.

Dodge - these are names of people that Facebook is suggesting that I add as friends. The creepy thing is that I had been friends with most of these people many many years ago, way before Facebook existed, so I am wondering how the people of Facebook found that out?!?!?!?

I'm just wondering if somehow they are tapping into the gardenhelper here, or if my computer sets markers for them to be able to see who I am friends with on sites other than Facebook. But again - most of the people they suggested are not current friends of mine.

Well I know forsure
my internet prrovide can read mine on his board some how.
How many blogs have access to it is another question.
You know you can type anyones name in on gh.or say blossom swap or any and you can read all the names.
Nerer use your real name an addy.

Or they are buying the info.
crazy.. Some on got fired when the boss read negatives of his company on facebook..

I think most of the time facebook recomends as "friends" people who are actually a friend of someone you are already a friend of.

Does anyone here that is on facebook play farmville or cityville?

I haven't had any requests show up that I don't have at least one mutual friend with. I think sometimes it goes by interest too, I'm not really sure. I used to play farmville but not anymore.

That's ok. I figured it was a long shot asking if anyone on here played games on FB.

But on those 3 women there were NOT mutual friends mentioned or suggested. JUST their names and pics.

Two of them popped up again this morning - Patty S was one. No mutual friend listed, or any other connection.

wow, i haven't been here in a long time! it feels like an old comfy sweater.
i found facebook, a lot of garden friends here did too, about the same time, then lord help me i found farmville. and with all the crap happening in my life, it was such an escape, i forgot (kinda) about garden helper. and i think i sorta wanted to, because there was alot of fighting going on here, some poofing and the bear was really needing a nap... so i left quietly when nobody was watching! lol
i will come back from time to time and just read stuff, even without logging on, and so i lurk, make sure everybody is still on the planet, and leave quietly again.
