I am looking for low-maintenance plants for a friend's west-facing oceanfront balcony (she's going through cancer treatments and needs to keep things easy and simple). She is open about what they look like -- she'd like to get three or four of a variety of heights, particularly a couple around eye-line. They will get morning light, a lot of indirect light and will get breezes, though they'll be mostly shielded from wind.
Any advice is most appreciated (including nursery recommendations in the area). I'm trying to help her but know NOTHING about plants myself. Thanks in advance!
