well in between storms today, I went out & took all the leave mulch off of my crocus bed in the front of the house.--and yea yea, I know I said I wasn't going to, well I guess a girl can change her mind, huh ??? besides, I always take it off too late---perhaps next year I will not even cover them ???

good news is I may have gotten the leaves removed in time so the crocus will bloom well. why

bad news is, there are daffodils (or something) growing over my Dwarf dutch iris that I planted last fall.--I guess it is not going to bloom ??

My Hummers will arrive here in 17 days, or less so I just want to be sure they have food if they show up early. For some reason I have sorely neglected them for the last couple years...

Also going to remove leaves from beds and look for new green,, I see the clematis is reviving and starting to grow,, as is the Blue passion flower

well this is waht Belinda made me realize that I NEED to do--I need to get outside & weed by back 2 beds---I didn't lay new mulch down last spring, and as a result I have lots of weeds, and they seem to have been growing some all winter---after it rains the next time I will weed them.
(If I wait until the next rain, I figure the weeds will pull totally out easier.) why

OH, did I mention that these 2 beds don't really have a lot of flowers in them ?? It is where I put some flowers & a good number of my decorative rocks from "the farm".

Carol do you have any pics? My yard got out of hand last year. I went to Texas for 3 weeks and when I came back the grass had just gone wild, the yard mowing was enough to keep me busy all summer, we went back to Texas for the week of July 4th. then it was way too hot here and my ac went out and that seem to take forever to fix, just one of those years . So this year I'm trying to get a jump on things was out all day today and cleaned more flower beds, some were so bad I just mowed them under last fall.

Today I trimmed back my banana trees they are coming out way too soon, silly things think its spring already. Lol

OK, this crazy weather we are having has convinced me to plant some peas and lettuce today yikes I figure a few pennies worth of seeds was worth the try. I am sure we are going to have a blizzard before spring is really here, but on the "back" side of our green house, the north side also, my DH put in particle board, rather than the corragated plastic, because our neighbor has 3 grandsons who visit a lot and a ball could easily break the plastic, but not the particle board. And the sun really did not shine that much on the north side anyway. So on the inside of the particle board he put black tar paper, so that bed is thawed! In the other 2 beds, the ground is still frozen in the center, but the back side seems to be ok. AND, as I was talking with a quilt customer today, I told her I was playing hookie from my work and working out in the green house. Well, she plants by the moon and today, according to her moon book, is a good day to plant! So I've got seeds planted outside in the ground, never thought I could do it so early, and it may not work, but I will keep you posted!

I have what I think is a 5 gallon plastic bucket. This evening after supper I filled it with weeds & what dead flowers that I didnt cut down last fall. Next up is killing the weeds I let grow up in my biggest mulched area in the back so I can re-mulch later this spring.

Tonight I really need to find my planting schematics that I made so I will know what flowers I need to re-buy this year.

Yes, it is very good for the soul---I know it helped me. I am glad you got to do that today, Lynne. thumbup

Dodge, I think right now, I am going to find my schematics--(well at least look for them)----I really do need to know what is weeds & what might be young flowers.

I bought a container of Violas today. Tonight they will go in the front bed to be with my wild violets when they bloom. The Violets are jsut now poking out of the soil (I added some loose dirt a month or so ago. Oh, how I LOVE spring !!!!

wow yours are blooming?? Great !!! thumbup

well, I DID plant my voila--& while I didn't find the schematic from 2011, I did find the one from 2010. Not that it will help me really, as I added new perennials last year.--oh well, as my DH says, it is early yet---

Well, he also said I should have all my books that I record things on in ONE place. blush

Now will it bloom all summer for you?
Is it just as hot at your new location?
Wonder how tall it grows
