OK, so I can't "quote" anyone from Coffeehouse 2388, unless I just don't know how why But in reply to Dakota

My DH is AADD, he has to stay busy almost all the time, which is a good/bad thing. He can putter and putter and he is a wonderful fixer and builder, but when he starts puttering with his Harley that gets expensive!!! It will be an adjustment for both of us to for him to be around all the time. As it is now, when he is home and I am working he has a tendency to come into my work room too often. We are going to have to work on that! tapfoot He always says that he wanted to talk to me right away or he might forget! lol

I also got some other bad news today. 2 weeks ago I had what is called a "scrape and cauterize" on the back of my left hand....they tested it and yes it is squamous cell skin cancer....not my first go-around with this malady. Usually the scrape and burn does the trick, they pathology the last scrape to make sure they got all the cancer....well this time they have to go further, so it is an incision and stitches. boohoo But not for about 6 weeks, the original scrape has to heal first!

Well I am glad this day is almost over, tomorrow has got to be better! Have a good night all

I do not look forward to my DH being home---if I have learned anything about life with him, he will likely want to rearrange everything there is and get rid of it if it is mine, or if I want it. His mom kept stuff too, but she had extra cabinets & drawers so you did not notice that she had it. As a result, he thinks it is "right" to not have stuff--but then if he wants say a wrag, bucket or jar, it should miraculously appear.
Nope not looking forward to it at all. nono

Keeping you in my prayers Bobbie kissie Skin cancer is a scary thing.

The day my DH retires I am going back to work somewhere full time with bonus hours lol He has been home for a bit between pneumonia and his work schedule...I am already looking into a part time job.

It has finally finished snowing, got the gate cleaned and now to tackle laundry and baking. Just another boring housewife kind of day.

Morning all,
It is finally getting light- got up at 6 to get ready to go to Carrie's to get boys ready for school while carrie goes and talks with teacher.. Derek's teacher is having a hard time understanding his IEP means she can't yell at him and then expect him to perform ok in school- carrie is going to as for the principal to be in on it today... yesterday she gave everyone but Derek a sucker for finishing the T-cap tests... he finished his but because he goes to a different room to take his she ignored him.. after yelling at him ... makes me want to go to school with him... would if he couldn't see me-
Well got to get moving- back later... have a good day all.

Good Morning.

Oh My Nana--I am so sorry--Teachers should be more up on various conditions & act accordingly--I know My valarie is.

I hope that Carrie gets things all worked out.

If we all of us lived closer to one another, we could start a business that would employ us all--- lol bop I myself have 6-7 years to find employment before I have my DH home.--

Decided not to go to rehab today---I so wish that it was open all day instead of until 11am. This is really hard on me to get there early. I think I will start doing exercises here at home some.

another beautiful day----I do so hope that we will NOT get another blast of winter before it is all said & done.

I am back home. boys are in school... Carrie wasn't back yet and she works in an hour so probably won't hear what happened for awhile... this teacher just doesn't get a learning disability that affects just reading and writing - not math... except for reading problems... it's taken us a long time to get him where he is now and she is destroying his love of school ... guess she thinks if she yells or punishes him for being slow it will make him do it faster... uh no.. it upsets him for the rest of the day into the evening... comes out as emotion and anxiety for him...he is to be allowed extra time to do his work and she makes him stay in from recess for his extra time- thats punishment as far as he is concerned.. she is supposed to start him earlier in things that he can do alone and stuff he needs help with the special teacher do one on one with him... she just won't comply....
We are supposed to get up to 73 today... still a few clouds but it is clearing up ... got some nice news yesterday .. getting a tax refund so that is a good thing..

Well off to get something done... good day all!
Nana

Good morning. Bobbie, good luck! That sounds painful. Nana, that teacher sounds awful. I just don't understand people like that. Hope you get her on board. Me, I'm dealing with one extra emotional teen. Everything is mean and unfair. The other teen has been great lately. Busy day at work today but it's my Friday and at least it will go by fast.

First of all, yesterday evening when I posted neener it was in answer to Cindy. It looks awful sitting there after Bobbi posted about her skin cancer. We posted at the same time. I have dealt with sc cancer on my face and hands, Bobbi and I understand. Good luck and I hope they don't have to dig too deeply.
Cheryl, I am glad I have most of my teen years behind me. My last turns 18 in a couple months and he is just different. Easy.
I am having a lazy day so far. In a bit I need to go to the courthouse and pick up papers and forms and stuff. I have procrastinated too long for this. But the office I need is only open from 1:30 pm to 4 pm. That is my nap time. snooz
And I need to shop for the weekend ahead. We are supposed to have real weather and I don't want to run out of any necessities. Not that I will but I want some fresh stuff around.

I think its funny that some are talking about their DH retireing and the changes they may have to make at home. lol
When my DH retires in 2 years he will go from being out of town Monday - Friday and home on Sat. & Sunday to being home 24/7. My life will be over! Right now I can do whatever I want or need to do 5 days a week with no one around. I may go crazy in 2 years!! nervous lol

LOL! my hubby is the opposite- he keeps everything..... he has my youngest's barbies and the case and clothes... we have 10 grandsons! no one is going to need them .... but they live in my basement... he has blocks - and every little toy that came from every fast food joint they ever went too dating back 18 yrs... they are also in my basement...he has all my kids report cards. the adoption papers for our youngest cabbage patch dolls, I get rid of stuff when he is out of town and he never notices usually...
will be worse when he is home all the time... and I should have known his Mom is the same way...LOL!

John and I both collected, just different stuff. I am still trying to get rid of some of his stuff almost 3 years after he died. I cannot toss things that could still be useful to someone. I need to find homes for a lot of things. I have also been getting rid of some of my things. Some I will never use again.

Well, see, here is the problem here....

If we have an item & Rod does not need it today, he feels it must go..it does not matter that it might be useful at a later date & it would be prudent to keep the item.
and then there is the fact that he does not have a sedimental bone in his body--(ie:if you have a toy and you are not using said toy today, never mind that your grandkids might use it later you do not need to keep it)--
case in point ?? My girls children's table & chairs--
he was "rearranging" the basement & wanted to get rid of them---just who is he kidding--we cannot ever afford to replace them, so if I have a perfectly good set why not keep them-?? I had to argue but thankfully we still have them.

me I want all of my "memories".

See, when I was young I saw all of the people who were in the nursing home that5 no one came to see---so I know that at some point I will not get to see my kids as I would like---so I can look at all of my things & remember the good times---

Yes it will be grand when we are here all day together---NOT---badday

I can't handle the heat anymore...I got too hot today and got sick at my stomach. I have to turn the AC on or I can't stand it.
We had a really bad storm awhile ago and now it has cooled off enough to turn the AC off and open the windows.

Easter cards? shock
I don't mean to sound like an ignorant hillbilly....but are Easter cards something that certain religions 'do'? Or is everyone supposed to send Easter cards and I just hadn't gotten the memo for almost 55 years? nervous
...I have never sent "Easter Cards"..... why

I have never sent an Easter card either, Cindy. That is a Hallmark thing that I didn't buy into.
Carol, "cribs" sounds promising?
Good morning. I will go out and shop for a couple of forgotten items today and then hunker down for our weather system coming in. We are to get slammed this weekend. Bill sent a storm down from up his way. We really, really need it.

My Father-in-law was not a guy who went many places, not real social & didnt l ike to be around people much---so my MIL did/does things to take the place of that lack of getting to be together with her kids/family on holidays as much as she would like--plus her oldest boy has lived in totally different states since he got out of college--(he is 70 yrs old,) so that set of grandkids were hardly ever close anyway. From when the kids were little she would send cards with money in them to the whole family. As a result, not to look bad so do I lol

As far as I know, it has nothing to do with religion.. why

As for not getting the memo---My sister, brother nor mother send cards either---not even to the little ones. why This was/is something my MIL started I think--at least in this family.
PS: In the last few years, we shop in the dollar store for the cards.. teach

Tina, yes my youngest DD (who always said she did not want kids) is expecting the first part of September. The great news is they planned it. clap

I always told my other DD that the youngest was just a lot younger then the rest of them & she would get to the place of wanting kids at some point---
Thankfully I was correct. shewinks

Oh how exciting new babies are so much fun Carol.... but I am just as glad my kid have finished with providing me with babies to spoil... 15 is plenty ,especially since a lot of ours are teens now...
I am waiting for my oldest gs to come take me to a couple stores to shop for bbq on Sun... combination birthday and anniversary party for Joe and I... I am modifying potato salad receipe to make it gluten free and hoping I can find buns for hot dogs that will work too... other wise I may try baking some with bread receipe... party will be a suprise for hubby ... he has to work so kids will all come earlier in day ... he is under impression they are all busy... so it will be a suprise for him...LOL!
I never sent Easter cards either... I do baskets for kids under 12 still .. and we do an egg hunt if weather permits...

see you all later.

Carol, I am thrilled for you and yours. I know how much you wanted this.
Out of 5 kids, I have no grands. But I mostly want my kids happy. And if that is what makes them happy, I am good with it.
For many years we did up small baskets for the elderly without kids in the area to celebrate the kid part of Easter. It was good for my kids and something I did as a kid too. A lot of the neighbors have moved on or passed on now and I am the elderly one. It was a lot of fun.

Don't give up on getting grandkids Tina. I didn't have my little one until I was 35. My "little" brothers followed with their babies within months. It just took us a while to get going, I guess! So nice that you are such a supportive mama. Congrats to you & your daughter Carol. I hope the Baby brings unexpected joy! I always wanted kids and never, ever could have imagined what it is truly like.

Hi everyone! Carol, that's wonderful news! I took the placement tests to start taking classes today. Did very well on the reading and writing portion, not so great on the math but that's ok. I'll just have to work my way up. Eating lunch now then I need to start the laundry and make a grocery list.

Hi all,
I have enjoyed reading over the posts for the past 2 days, the stuff about hubbies retiring sure game me a good laugh. haha

Congrats on being a new grandma, Carol. I have only 1 son and 1 grandson and they live in West Virginia boohoo I never get to see either of them enough.

Bless you, Nana, for all you do for yours. To me that is what life is about family and friends!

Made a flying trip to Newcastle (75 miles) yesterday, very early. (I really mean flying 85-90 mph nervous) My BIL called and they had to rush my sis to the hospital with terrible pain all over! She had taken just one of the antibiotics earlier in the day to get rid of the UTI, and at first thougt she might be having a reaction to that. But now they are really not sure what caused the pain episodes. She had the one yesterday morning that lasted 4 hours, then again yesterday afternoon that lasted about 2 hours. They did every blood and urine test they could think of and nothing really showed up. But yesterday morning she also spiked a fever of 103!!! It was very scary for a while. It was also very hard to see her in so much pain. I spent the night at the hospital with her, just in case she had another "episode" and thank God she did not. Her temp was almost back to normal this morning, so they released her. She is worried it could happen again, the pain, since they really don't know what caused it. It kind of comes in waves...all her muscles cramp up. But the staff at the small hospital in Newcastle was great, so kind and caring.

Now I am completely drained....I wonder what my husband is goin to fix for dinner. haha haha haha

I hope you get dinner, Bobbi. And hope those episodes are finished for your sister.
I was in my 20's when I had my first 3 kids. My oldest will be 50 this year. I was 40 and 43 when I had my last 2 kids. My baby turns 18 this year. Time does fly when you are having fun.
