Welcome, Jim. I'm in SoCal. I am also in zone 9. Or 18-19 according to Sunset Gardening. Elevation adds coolness to my micro climate. Are you talking flowering plants or vegetables?
I'm focusing mostly on
flowers (including Edible
flowers) and Herbs, with only a few Vegetables mixed here and there.
I'm not planting the usual summer Vegetables (Squash, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Cucumbers, Pumpkins).
The summer Vegetables I have already include: Tomatoes, Eggplant (Black Beauty), and Beans (many varieties). I still have some Kohlrabi (some old and some new), Chinese Cabbage, Swiss Chard, Russian Red Kale, Red Giant Mustard and Southern Curled Mustard, and Radishes, and lots of Carrots, Onions and Garlic.
I'm planting
peppers from
seeds. My
seeds are not
growing, so may not be good (old
seeds). I've already ordered more
pepper seeds ....
I'd like to find as many
flowers and Herbs (not shrubs or trees, don't have enough space) that will
flower in the Fall, Winter and
spring.
One of my goals is to have as many plants as possible that will reseed every year, like my Calendulas, Chamomile, Cosmos, Tomatoes, Sunflowers, Swiss Chard, Beets, Carrots, Morning Glory, Chinese Cabbage, etc. .....
