Whew I've been down sick most of last week. It was get up for an hour and then back to bed. And with spring looking so good it really hurt not to be able to get out there. But I made up for it today. I even managed to weed all around the raised bed. I know it's not much but it is a start.

I'm still removing turf! transfered (ok...sneaked) some old lily bulbs from our old house an dplanted them, I'm hoping they come through cuz I sorta tore though some roots...quite a few roots. sowed some cosmos and bachelor's button seeds a few weeks ago and found little tiny sprouts coming up, think they're the BB, don't have ferny leaves! Spread a packet of wildflowers onto the groud that I just 'unturfed' yesterday. won't be doing anything in the garden until this weekend.
Helping the world one seed at a time When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

It's so good to hear what everyone is managing to get done. I'm feeling better. Today I went out and did some more weeding (still lots to go) and I planted a mystery bush that my landlord left for me. At least I'm assuming that's what he did. He also left me another pile of grass right on top of the finished mulch. Having such a public gardening space makes sure it is always an adventure.

No way Tamara! Go away snow! I put up a cedar fence out front of our farm yard this afternoon - all by myself! Have a smashed pinky to prove it! Husband has to help me straighten it out a bit, but at least the holes are dug and it's up off the ground. Will post pics when the plants start growing. Covered and brought in everything - that's what I did tonight! Suppose to be maybe below 40 tonight and tomorrow night. Happy May Day!

I'm finally getting started with my garden. My husband planted our potatoes today and we plan to do the peas next. I also planted spinach, radishes (sure hope they do better this year) leaf lettuce, and romaine lettuce. It felt just wonderful getting all that done even if I was dead tired when we were done.

I finally planted my toms & cukes. I also planted more scotch moss-(A stepable)- under my water faucet--great stuff--and finally some "Joseph's coat" in one of my back yard flower beds--

I envy you the scotch moss. I wanted some moss for a project I was contemplating once upon a time but it was way to expensive. I weeded another patch of garden yesterday but have much much more to do. And am I out of shape after the winter months. The shovel is almost more than I can lift. I also want to recondition the soil in one area that I weeded yesterday. So I'll dig that out and add it to the compost pile and use the finished compost to fill in that area. Then I think I'll put the green peppers there.

I shovelled the snow off my hedging. I have a bank of 3 feet covering the edge of my property. That's where we pushed the snow off the driveway. I shovel a little each day.

what i did when it came to the moss was buy a bit at a time--it spreads so you just have to be patient. I am in the 2nd year and I am just now filling in a 1 ft x 4 inch area. But it is really pretty so I made myself be patient. I am gonna try to find some seed too--- and I just found out, after just buying 1 or 2 at a time-(to keep the cost down)- for 2 years (from the same place), that if I buy 3 of the same size container, I get like 50-75 cents off-- so ask questions at your favorite gardening store. Talk about being out of shape--it tore me up so a while back to rake the yard that my husband cut the grass twice this time to make the clippings fall into the grass so I would not have to rake--& he HATES to cut--aw----he gets points!!

That's a lot of rain. I think I could use a nice soaking rain for that bush I planted the other day. Today it looks nice out but I can't even talk myself into getting out of the apartment.
Maybe this evening I'll go out and take a look around.

Tkhooper wouldn't it be nice if we were ready to go come spring, in shape and everything. I'm very sore and stiff today after my planting deal yesterday. But am glad that part is done.

I was willing to do the work---I like to use the clippings as mulch on my garden anyway--but with me laying inside all "sick", it was sweet of the Hubby anyway---but being younger is definately the way to go--too bad it works the otherway. hey but on a good note I planted alot of what was left to plant in my garden & flower beds--and I am not too sore from that at least---

Well, we only got a few flurries but they are still calling for snow tonight. It's so cold outside, colder than it is normally.
My snow is usually gone by the middle of May, Christy.

It's raining here which is exactly what I wished for. Now we'll hope the bush wasn't to far gone and that this is a good soaking rain. The radishes should like it too.

not getting anything done today---rain & a dr's appt.--
need the grass mulch for the maters now--so I have to think of a way to do that & not hurt the hubby's feelings.
Ditto on the hopes for the bush---this rain should help much.

I won't be getting anything done today. We're getting rain, just what we wanted as well tkhooper. My potatoes and lettuces will love it. Did our first grass mowing this week, just finished before the rain.

It's been raining here since early yesterday, so I've been doing a lot of weeding. 35 gallons of weeds so far. That's the worst of it, mostly from my raspberry beds as I neglected to mulch them last fall.

I did absolutely nothing in the garden today, even though it's a beautiful day. Had to stop by the Dr's office and then my b/f treated me to a massage. Now I have to pick up kids and do grocery shopping. Maybe tomorrow I can do something out there.

It was a good morning in the garden. I transplanted some of the Chinese Lanterns. I really want those things all over the place I love them. I dug up one of it's roots that was headed in the wrong direction. I weeded about 1 square foot which is a good day for me. And I planted more of the april cross white radishes and a bunch of asters I got from Brazil. I've got my fingers crossed because I have had no luck with asters so far. Why I don't know yet but I'll keep trying. Sooner or later one of them will work.
