Good Morning,

I hope someone is able to help me. I have searched the internet high and low all morning and have been unsuccessful in finding a solution to my very odd plant infection. The images attached are of a plant of mine that is dying, I have also noticed this "infection" on several of my other plants and I want to be able to stop it before it uncontrollably spreads. The white "spores" or fuzzy spikes can be easily blown off from a dead stem. I have had spider mites before and this is not the case. I haven't been able to narrow the problem down very well, I thought it might be a fungus or mold but the more I look I am beginning to think it is a pest problem. If you could please help me, I love my plants very much and hate to see them dying.

Welcome PlantLover. I really cannot tell from your (very good) photo what the case might be. I will tell you that insecticidal soap may help if it is a wee critter problem. If you do not have insecticidal soap at hand you can mix your own substitute. Mix about a tablespoon of dish soap in about a quart of water and spray the entire plant. Not much stronger than that because it can harm your plants. Spray the top of the soil too. This may take repeated applications.
If it is a fungal problem,I would check out stuff available for that at the nearest nursery. You can dab at the fuzzy areas with cotton swabs dipped in household peroxide.
