Hi there,

I recently planted Romaine lettuce on my balcony garden and had a quick question about watering: it's getting colder here on Sacramento and while the sun is on them all day, the water doesn't readily get dried up. How often should I water?

Thank you!

I stick my finger into the dirt and if it comes back dry I water.

I always water my plants in the evening because if the sun is on the plants it can scald leaves. And I agree with the answer above. When I see that the soil is dry I water it.
