I've decided that I'm going to knit. I know the basics and have a few supplies and tools. But not nearly everything I will eventually need. I'm looking for a mentor to guide me through the process and help me stay organized as the equipment and supplies grow. Anyone interested?

I doubt if you want any help from me. I tried to knit a simple scarf in junior high school...ended up poking my eye with a knitting needle and had to go to the ER.
Good luck!!!

I can try help...but honestly it's easier when you can 'see' what the process is. I just taught myself how to crochet this Fall watching Youtube.

I agree with Sunflowers - it's easier to watch someone do it - there are fantastic videos online - that is how I refreshed my memory and learned to do so much more with knitting, crocheting, and beading. There is a terrific website called RAVELRY for knitting and crocheting. They have forums just like here, for anything you can think of, and the people there are very helpful. There are TONS of patterns - most free, some for a fee, but I've made lots of things from patterns there. I'm not sure if you need to sign up and wait for an invitation to join that site anymore - I had to wait several weeks, a few years ago - but I think they are instant now? Not sure. I am not always here, but will be glad to help with any questions, if I can.

Thanks. I'll check out that site after Christmas and see what happens. I sort of know how but need to think about it again.

i'm a member and joined very quickly as I remember. It is a good sight. I just got a left handed mentor there. I think we are going to start with socks to learn the 3dpn technique for making them. or maybe 2 circular needles I'm not sure.

I tried sock a few years ago with a friend teaching me. It takes 4 needles. Problem was that I could do it fine when she was with me but as soon as she left I couldn't remember which needle went where.

True it is 4 it's just that one is free so that I can use it to knit the next bunch. Or at least that is the way it seems to me. But that's just from one attempt at knitting the fingers on the fingerless gloves. I've lost the bag with my sweater in it. Can you believe that? I hope that I left it at the meeting and it is there when I go tonight. If not I'm going to feel really bad.
