A Gardeners Forum Forums General Discussion New Members Are my eggplants ready to pick?

Hi, I'm new to the forum! Looks like a great place to share ideas and information :-)

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I'm wondering about when to pick my eggplants, or how to tell when they are ripe, and ready to go!

Please see below images.



This one has been on the plant the longest, and I think it is overripe now as it has lost it's nice deep purple colour and shine.



These are younger, and I'm thinking would be good to eat now...?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Wow...I have been craving eggplant for a few weeks now...almost bought one yesterday at the grocery but they looked awful. Those look good to me...I would pick them and eat them now...but I might just be saying that because I am craving eggplant right now.

They look a little bigger than your hand and shiny and that's when they're ready.
