Beautiful! Made me think of that huge snowman I made at the beginning of the Bus Stop path. (Well...I had a little help...)

I didn't think I would get it, since I hardly ever go anywhere. Every time I go to the grocery store it freaks me out touching those nasty shopping carts that you never know what kind of germs are on them....ICK!

Hope YOU don't get it...I feel like my head is going to explode.

Cindy, when my oldest was about 9 months, she got sick & was put into isolation in a croup tent for her hig fevers---long story short, she had the measles & the only place she could have gotten the measle germ was when she sat in my shopping cart while shopping.--(no one I ever knew then had the measles before or after she did)
so yes you probably did get it via a shopping cart, or on the door handles when you went to one of your Drs. visits.

I dont think I will get it, as I had what I think was the flu back a few weeks, or was it a month ago...I had it for about 4 or 5 days, then I had a bad cold for about an extra week--and to this day I am still dealing with a runny & congested nose.

The flu was NASTY..I had a high fever---just under 102 that was constant, day and night for all the time---I hurt so bad the first 3-4 days that there was NO way I could have driven myself to the drs.

they said on TV if one gets the flu they should go get the antivirals (tami-flu) and take them ASAP--and to stay 6 feet away from anyone else, as the germs can reach that far out---and apparently flu germs can live for a long long time, so clean every surface you touch with some disinfectant or sanitizer. :ding:

....hence my phobia of going to the grocery store.

Our stores offer disinfectant wipes right next to the shopping carts. I use them religiously. And when they have been out, I have been known to go back to the car and get one of my own.
I am sorry you are sick, Cindy. I hope you get over it really fast.
Long day here and it is getting really, really cold. I will snuggle under my blankets very soon.

There have been no disinfectant wipes at my grocery for the last few weeks...next time I am there i will be bringing that to attention of someone. I carry 2 in my purse...so when I finish shopping and get my stuff in the truck I use one of them.

We are hoping to break a record here in Ky on Saturday, from 1890....when it was 71 degrees.

wow 71---yep--I think we have messed up the atmosphere--one day its cold, the next day it is warm---it is no wonder we are all sick..

I have tried to sleep but coughing so bad I finally got back up.
My 2 cousins who are going to the doctor with me in Lexington tomorrow might back out on me now.....

Cindy--try putting vicks vapo rub on your feet and then put socks. My sister swears by that--she says it does stop coughing---she said she does it at night before bed, but why not try it during the day?/ it could not hurt, right ????

Yes Cindy try it - I do it for myself and the kids too.. it works for us...


I am finally feeling some better now.. it's been 3 weeks... it's seems like forever since I could breathe without coughing my head off....

We just got back from taking Nicoli to the doc for his ultrasound... of course they can't tell us anything - have to send it to doc.. hopefully they will actually do something this time... he can't eat... even water makes his stomach hurt... Carrie is ready to go check him into Children's hosptital and say figure it out! it's just so damn slow for them to actually do something
to help him.... very frustrating....

Well off to finish my laundry and wait for a call to see if we need to go back to doc for answers...

Hi all...hoping your grandson gets better soon Nana.

Holy everyone is getting sick..I am feeling a bit better but now my DH is sick. The drugstore even ran out of flu meds..and finding a bottle of good cough syrup is impossible. Thankfully a shipment of supplies will be in soon they say.

Nice pics Bill...for some reason I thought you got a lot of snow in a Winter. I couldn't imagine not owning a snowblower. We have been lucky so far, we are well below our normal snow level.

Cindy, I must have sent you that cough. I can't take codeine so I have to tough it out. I don't have any advice for you. It's awful.

That said, I feel sooooo much better today. I so hope this is over.

Watching the news makes this flu season scary. And then getting on the forum and it is rampant. Keep safe everyone.

Bill, I think she meant that a LOT of us here on the Forum have had or now have the flu....

What a day. Sick, had to go to Lexington for another eye exam. Took 2 of my crazy cousins with me and the one who was supposed to drive me home drank too much at Red Lobster...so I had to drive home in the dark...2 hours. I can NOT see at night...and I have prisms in my glasses that turn one headlight into 5 headlights. So, you can imagine what the interstate is like for me...especially with my eyes dilated from the exam. But, we made it home alive and will probably do it again sometime.

Yeah, I blame Bestofour for my cough and congestion...she gave it to me by posting near me on the forum.

Yes, I meant flu, norovirus, colds, etc. It is scary. This morning on the news they talked about the second confirmed flu death in OC, Ca. And then went on to say that so far California, along with 2 other states, in not yet part of the flu epidemic. It makes me want to stay home for the next few weeks.

OMG, the flu is running rampant here in Canada as well, they are already using up the 'stored' flu vaccine because of a shortage. So scary when it comes to the sick, children and elderly. The good thing about getting the flu was that I lost 4 pounds

We are getting our 'January thaw'..we always get a few warmer days filled with freezing rain. It's starting today.

The news from the doc was good and bad I guess- the ultrasound was normal... just fine so now we don't know what to do... Carrie is taking him for allergy testing next.. this is so hard to see him in pain and they seem to have no idea what is causing this... we need some prayers for our little guy.


I still feel like crap , just so tired of feeling tired and no energy,, taking me forever to get anything done.. even the little stuff.

Well off to fold the laundry I did yesterday... stick some pork chops in the crockpot to cook for dinner, keep my fire going....

Cindy, I think you were probably AT home and were just having a flash back from activities in the early 70's which we won't talk about unless Lindsay Lohan joins the form. You may not even have 2 cousins or a car. BUT if you find those prism glasses I'd like to wear them for a while. Sounds like a blast.

Yes it's cold here -- supposed to be down to 2* tonit... fire has been going all day... along with vaporizers and humidifors to keep me breathing..

I hope everyone gets better soon too... this bug seems to hang on forever... one day I am ok then next I am exhausted and to tired to move... hopefully tomorrow will be good..

Well off to bed now- it's early but I am going to sleep while I can... maybe if I get enough sleep this bug will go away for good...

38*F here now--it was in the high 40's a few hours ago.
It has been raining for a few hours--& it will be freezing before the night is over----here will not be a pretty place to be tomorrow.

I have been coughing all day--I do so hope that I am not coming down with something once again.

I am up in the middle of my night to add fuel to my woodstove. On top of my stove I keep 3 teakettles and a stockpot full of water. That is to add moisture to the air here too. But I also use that water for dish washing and filling my teacups. It saves propane and holds a little more heat in here. Good stuff.

it's going to be 73 here today. Wish I felt like going outside and playing but I don't.

Good morning. I have been up awhile but just now getting around to catching up. I hope you woke better this morning, Carol.

Up in the high 60's here today...still 59. The other side of Kentucky (west) is in the 20's and have had tornadoes today. it's headed in my direction! Supposed to snow tomorrow night,and the wind is picking up already. It was fun while it lasted. Guess I better turn the AC off and the heat back on before I go to bed.

I awoke ok--but now I am wondering---so I took an airborn and some vitamin C lozenges--we will hope it is all better tomorrow.

Cindy, Iit is 20*F here now--and "cold" does not begin to describe it.

I hope that it is warmer tomorrow and that I am not sick--I have too much to do.

It is 7* right now... may snow tonit but so far it's not...we have the fireplace going to stay warm tonit... hopefully both boys will go to school tomorrow- I have Senika and Carrie works days so will have to go pick up Derek if he sleeps late- Joseph is off so he will be with him till I can go get him... Nicoli is going to have allergy tests now.. as soon as Carrie can get him into the doc... the ultrasound was normal so this is next step.. after that will be endoscopy if the allergy tests show nothing... sure hope it doesn't come to that.. and allergy we can deal with ....

We went out today and bought 2 recliners- the couch in my living room is wearing out and it is to big so going to move my loveseat upstairs and get rid of the couch and put the recliners in the family room... when we have get togethers we don't use the family room it's to small so this makes more sense...

I felt pretty good today and managed not to nap so hopefully I am finally on the mend... have my vaporizer ready to go upstairs tonit though.. with the fire going house gets dry..even with 2 humidifors going 24/7... helps me breath at night ..

Well off to put laundry away.. and get ready for bed- 6:15 comes early in the morning... but after this month I won't have Senika anymore- she is going into daycare in Feb...
