Today's high about a mile down the road from me was 110* and on my shaded back porch it was 97*. I am glad I planned on doing nothing today and tomorrow.

That is a good temperature to do nothing in---- I got lucky--it was so cool here (high was like 81) Then tonight, when I got home, It was so cool that I even had to wear a long sleeved shirt while I was outside weeding the tall dog pen. I think I will finish weeding between the pavers in that one & then use round-up in the shorter one--- I think it is going to be cool until at least tuesday---YAY !!!!! I will say goodnight now--soon I am going to go to sleep. Sweet Dreams to everyone.

Good morning I got up early, went to the store, got 2 loads of laundry done, dusting done, and our Sunday dinner started. I also baked a cake,, and it's not even 8 am yet hopefully the oven and stove will be turned off and dryer will be done by 10 am. that's my goal anyway. This duplex is small so when the stove and oven and dryer is going it gets pretty warm in here.

It is hot, Sunny. And an earlier heat wave than our normal. Records for this time of year are being broken. Later this week we are supposed to get back to our normal warm. I have no plans on moving much at all today. I have been working on my food inventory. Good things to contemplate here. I want to build an outdoor oven for cooking away from the house. I have plenty of outdoor cooking options but not for baking. So that is in the planning stages.

our rain hasn't been for a while,, triple digits end of last week and into next week,, I'm praying for rain right now. Friday I think I was having a heat stroke- mildly? I couldn't cool off after lunch break, all afternoon into the evening, continued to sweat even tho my skin felt cool to the touch,, red faced, sweating, lips were dry, and queasy well into the evening even after two cool showers. The boys helped me make stawberry lemonade, with crushed ice, and I drank that on top of a lot of water all day, finally cooled off by around 8 pm. I was really nervous about it for a while This heat is NO Joke, don't be out in it longer then you need to be. I will NOT go out side again when it's 100+ again heat index at 108+ on my lunch breaks again and will send a coworker out to roll my windows all the way down on the van a 1/2 hour before I get off work from now on. My car inside was over 115 even when I got home 40 minutes later it still read 106 when I pulled up in the driveway.

20 degrees is a big difference to have to get used too. Unbelievably they said it's supposed to be 66* tonight record low for here in July. We've had a lot of water main pipes breaking due to the dry ground and shifting with the heat. The pipes of course don't move with the ground, so they are bursting all over the place. We need rain bad!

We just got a 5 min rain and hail storm...now the sun it out again , not enough to really water but every little bit counts... sure wish it would stick around to take down our fire dangers.. course now it's flooding where the fires have been.. those areas just can't get a break.. I am praying for the Az firefighters family too... that is so sad for all of them.... and most of them were so young.........
Spent most of day at Carrie's ... Derek just would not come here today... he is feeling anxious about our vacation trip ... sure hope he handles it okay...
I don't know what we will do for dinner tonight... don't feel much like cooking so may just go to subway or something.. Nicoli has him MRI tomorrow so will probably have 2 of the boys here till that and all the other errands Carrie has to do done...
Well off to get something done ... spending time over there doesn't get much done at my house...LOl! Nana

So excited a new member posted their Devil's back bone Plant. I haven't seen one since I had one. When I moved Emmy got attacked by a pitbull and I had to trust my friends to finish moving for me so I could get Emmy Help with a Vet. No one took my Devils back bone in the house and left it out side in the back yard in December and I lost it due to the weather. I would love to have another one, but they can't be found here, anywhere. .

I work in Bedford, live in Arlington, so Julian is going to work with me for the day. I work nearer Fortworth. It will be an interesting day seeings how his appt isn't until 2:15. It just takes too much gas going back and forth if I Don't take him to work with me.

Good morning, thanks for the sun to whomever shared. I got all my yard work done yesterday and it is calling for 4 hot days in a row. I even picked enough wild strawberries yesterday afternoon to make 4 bottles of jam...I am slowly starting to feel better. Heat stroke is nothing to play with Diane, that's how I ended up with a ride on lawnmower. I always joke how I almost had to die to get one Tina, you might want to look up online about the Amish baking ovens...there should be a description on how to build one. Hoping all is well and that the rain hits Nana soon.

Good Morning , I am only one up so far today... and it's 9 am...
We got another little rain shower last night ...for about half and hour came down pretty well... hope the fire areas got some of it too.. it's so sporadic where it decides to fall... usually goes around us at my house and hits Carries a half mile away..
Carrie is so mad at Nicoli's docs office right now... he was supposed to have his MRI today and office called to confirm it- she asked to make sure her insurance had agreed to pay for it .. girl said yes she had confirmation noted in records... then Carrie opened her mail and insurance did not approve it.. they have to do something else first... then get approval... she would have been stuck with a few thousand dollar bill if she had believed that girl or not gotten the letter yesterday... Well off to get my crew moving- need to get to Sam's and get laundry done while the sun is shining - ... have a good day all! Nana

I am sorry that Nicoli did not get his MRI. But glad that Carrie caught it before the event took place.

Afternoon all, Well the docs office straightened out the MRI problem- they coded it wrong and the insurance approved it after all... so they had to rush him to the hospital and get it done... he came thru like a trooper Carrie said... so now maybe we will get a real diagnosis... Yes the kids and us are all going on vacation together... 2 cars and leaving at diff times... we will take Timothy with us and leave early morning- they are taking other two boys and leaving at night so Derek can sleep thru the greater part of the drive... going to visit Joe's Mom first and stay in a hotel.. then on to Sierra Vista to see our in laws and enjoy being out in the boonies and just veg for awhile....
We are eating tacos tonight for dinner... to hot to cook big meal and just sounds good to me...
Well off to eat and then veg in front of the tv for awhile.... doing laundry during commercials. .LOL! Nana

Laundry! I am glad you mentioned it. I haven't done any due to excessive heat. But it is better weather now. I can wash and dry early and late without affecting house temps much now.

Gracious, I have lots of catching up to do.
Tina & Sherri: I usually do my laundry late at night--but as I will be home tomorrow, I will do my catching up on it then.
Tomorow I will read back & see what all I've missed---
night night everyone...sweet dreams.

I have done a load. I may need to harass my daughter to scrounge up towels from her room. I am glad the temps have gone back to somewhat normal hot and not so much hades hot. I have bedding in the hamper to wash next. I am glad I got all of the heavy blankets washed and changed over to lighter bedding before it all hit. I am waiting for my hair to dry a bit more from my late shower. And then I will go to bed.

Morning ,
Well truck is at he shop... I hate driving it... I am not much for driving at all in traffic anymore so I was following Joe to the shop and he took the scenic route ... don't know where he thought he was going at first but was good thing he couldn't hear me cussing him out for doing it... he is taking Joseph to the airport at 1 today , he is visiting his soon to be fiancé for the long weekend... they are talking marriage.. and he bought a ring... and he thinks now he is going to go into law enforcement after he gets his diploma...
Our vaca in Az will be fun.. in laws have a pool and my BIL buys goodwill golf clubs for the boys and has a driving range he made on his property so they have a ball doing that, and riding his Mule, and the horses of his next door neighbor... I just want to relax and not "have" to do anything...
Well off to finish up the laundry and get busy cleaning.. Nana

Laundry is going good here too. So much cooler today. I am glad. I was not prepared for the 100*+ heat last week. There will be plenty more of that before summer is over. It just doesn't usually begin to get really hot in June. I hope your vacation is all you could hope for, Nana. Safe travels.

Tina, so gld the weather has cooled off for you---we had a few nicer days as well---if only it had not of been raining for most of it.
My littlest great niece had such a high fever this morning that my sister (the Grammy, who was watching her and her sister who is also ill) got upset & called the ambulance---- My sister & both girls are at the hospital now. The little one is responsive & is doing better now----"mom" is with her now and "daddy" is on his way.
Thank goodness for cell phones...and understanding employers.

I usually do my laundry on Wednesdays or Thursdays but today I have to head over to the old folks home until 5 at the earliest.. Then we have a bunch of stuff to do until 7 or so when Sam will be in town then we'll pick her up...
Friday we have a concert to go to in Portland at night and Trey's mom picks him up at about 6:10 or so...
Then next weekend we're planning on going to the beach to escape city heat lol...
I hope your niece feels better soon!

I hope your great niece recovers quickly. My oldest used to get raging fevers that needed hospital ice blankets to bring down. My two younger brothers did as well. Tepid baths at home would not do it. It is scary. I do laundry when it suits me and that is pretty often. It has more to do with weather than anything else. My dryer heats up the house so much. That is helpful in winter and not much problem in spring and fall. But summers can be a bear. I would hang laundry outdoors but I have a horrid flying dust problem. So I dash to do it early/late on our cooler days. I have thought of moving the dryer outdoors for summer. I have thought of it for years.

Little G-Niece is better---they got her fever down enough to allow here to go home---esp. since "Mommy" is a nurse practitioner. Now, about me----Remember my total mesh repair back in '08 ?? well just a bit ago I was bending over to pick up my laptop & tablet to take into the other room so I would have access to them (DH wants the desk top to use tonight) and I got this jabbing pain in my left buttock... It is not a good feeling----DH says he thinks the worse thing is for me to do is sit still in one place----so when I get this note done, I will probably not be on any more tonight. (sorry) Right now I am not concerned, so not to worry----if it is the same or worse tomorrow then I may go get it looked at. I wish everyone a good evening
