Metromix 360 http://sungro.com/products_displayProduct.php?product_id=106&brand_id=17

I do however wonder if making my own soil less mixture would be cheaper/better.

from what I read around many people are happy with this---I would not go below the 360 variety though---or if you do you would need to add your own perlite.

From what I have read the MM 360 is one of the most popular Metro-Mix formulations. Close to Metro-Mix 350, but with additional aggregate for drainage, so you will not have to add your own perlite.

It is a good choice for a variety of crop types and container styles. So far as what is cheaper, it would depend on your preferences & what the various components cost. This would be an easier way to go though.

well the chinese evergreen should do well in the mix, as they like Mix equal parts potting soil, perlite and peat moss.

The Peace lily does well in a soil like one would use for succulents & cacti. I read the ingredients list of your metro mix and your peace lily should do well in it as well..

I personally have my Peace lily in Miracle grow potting soil. I have had it for just shy of 3 years and it is doing well in that.
