Title: Modern Family (2009) Synopses: Three different, but related families face trials and tribulations in their own uniquely comedic ways. Am I allowed to start a thread on this topic cuz I think this show is hilarious.

I've been watching the Modern Family Marathon and laughing my head off. Johnny had to come see what I was laughing about and then he was laughing too.

I just have family an they removed some of the programs off that also.. Mostly commercials of selling jewels or something. May go to the Dish in the spring.

I have DirecTV; we call every 6 months and ask if they have a promotional price and they knock some cash off of the price we pay for a couple of months and give us free showtime for that period to.
I had Dish before, too many service interruptions; it was a constant with our old setup; and ended up costing more for the channel lineup that we had.

We just have standard cable (mid range) with the Telephone company here...they are as close to a monopoly as can be done w/o being in one---si it is waht it is here.
I dont get the extra Movie channels--I get plenty of movies on the channels I do get. They change us around too though...

They sure try to sucker us into the stuff. I get about nothing now. Watch local channels now, mostly, which are to be free.

Modern Family is good most of the time but some of the time the children in it are so mouthy and disrespectful to their parents that I turn the channel. I guess it's supposed to be funny but not to me.

Sadly I think it's how a lot of kids "get" to behave these days. and if they do they see that then & think THAT is normal.

I agree on that one. I thought I only was the one who thought that. How are they raising the kids today?
I am shocked at how they are allowed to use the f word all over the tv, as well as taking off the clothes...... No discipiling at all.

We never hit our children but the other night on Modern Family (a rerun) the mother of one of the high schools girls told her she could not get engaged to this high school drop out and the girl told her mother she hated her. That would have been a time I would have hit my child. I think I would have popped her right in the mouth. Before it was over the mother was apologizing to the daughter saying she was wrong to interfere, that she should have realized it was her (the daughters) decision to make. Not in my house.

nope not in MY house either---It is a parents job to teach a child right from wrong. NOT to let them do as they please And NO !! NOT in my house either...if I were that girls mother, I would not be apologizing SHE would be...
I did NOT hit or mistreat my children. I spanked the oldest--but then as she got older & the little one was told at school that spankings were abuse & to report it to their teachers (at this time they 100% would believe a child over an adult.) I was forced to stop that. So I switched to a slap on the face---well until one day my oldest turned her face & I caught her eye instead of her cheek. No, she did not get a black eye but I was worried.
Bottom line ?
I spanked my oldest & she was a well behaved, respectful child---I did not touch my youngest harldy ever & she was mouthy & honery. The youngest did get a slap in the face one time when she said F--- You She was a teen. She was as shocked as I was (I just reacted) BUT she never spoke any bad words in front of me again---& still to this day does not. (she is 27) And NO, I DID NOT Apologize to her for the slap.

You 2 are correct.. Is what the world is lacking. No parent supervision.. They think it is best for both parents to work...An make lots of money. Well kids go to day care. Well some have to , but they do pick up a lot of bad words there an in school. When we were kids teachers used a paddle on us. One time my daddy made them a paddle.
Right today its abuse..How does the teachers today correct the kids?

I can't watch this show anymore. They've made the children brats. I guess it's supposed to be funny but it's not.

I don't like many of the shows on these days. All of the kids are mouthy and/or brats. I am not happy with the values being taught to our children.

It's a shame because I like some of the characters on this show but the writers are making 3 of the children brats.

Tried to watch this show the other day and couldn't do it. As the children have gotten older that got rude to their parents and all other adults. Would tell their parents they hate them and their parents would apologize and even cussed at their parents. I'm not sure if it's still on with new episodes but the funny plots turned to smart mouthed brats and bumbling adults.

Honestly, nothing about this show appeals to me anymore; it was mildly amusing at first, but it just went downhill really fast... When it comes on I generally just change the channel anymore.

James, is it because the children are so bratty or because instead of being funny all they do is complain? Even Gloria has started complaining all the time and she used to be so cute and funny.

I think that a big part of it is how the children are all bratty; I don't want my kids watching that crap and thinking it's ok... At the same time I can totally see the need for some drama to make things interesting, but showing that it's ok to disrespect everyone isn't exactly the thing I want to instill in my kids... It's really weird too, because I actually really enjoyed this show for a while. And the complaining, so much complaining. There's another show that has a similar presentation called " Life in Pieces" on CBS that I have come to enjoy.
