I started an aloe squarrosa cutting last spring. It has it's first pup. The pup is about 1.5 inches big. I want to give it to a friend of mine. Is it too small to seperate?

Also, how should I seperate it? Will I need to unpot it first, or can I just pop it out?

Let it get a bit bigger to make sure it has roots of its own. Then, let the soil get good and dry, gently dig around the pup with a spoon or something small while shaking and loosening it. Cut the shoot connecting it to Mom close to Mom and pot it up. Wait about 3 days before watering either of them. If your potting soil is dampish, let the pup sit out for the 3 days before potting it. Then give it with joy!

Hello all ..I'm a newbie to the forum. I a huge aloe .I tried to keep up with it and turn it every few weeks so it would grow straight but it seemd that it goes up so far and then bends out .What i was wondering is can i trim the bottom stems from her and put it further down into the roots?

treesa, you can do that, but i wouldn't. i've never seen an aloe go straight up. BUT, i'd wait for some other opinions, we have some great aloe growers here.
