Quick visit... Joe is off so we are going somewhere- he can't stand to stay home.. even when it is windy and cold outside... tried to get in yesterday but my internet kept going in and out so I couldn't post.. we called them this morning and it came back on and stayed while we were talking to them... good thing I have use it to pay bills...

It is really cold this morning... cause of the wind... kids are up in mtns at Jon's parents time share condo and they must be freezing ... we have Derek's Yorkie, he wanted him to stay with us so he wouldn't have to be in his cage while Joseph was at work- he hasn't quite got not peeing in house down yet... has been fine here though... he's fun to have around-

Well I need to get ready to go... have a good day all.....

Hello all. It has been a chill out day. I haven't done much at all. A few dishes here and some dusting there. Putting time in with my son and getting some hair cut. It is my usual Sunday done on Monday.

Are you washing clothes because your grandson helped dirty them? That was my first thought. Sorry.
I should toss clothes in the washer. It helps warm the house when the dryer is running.

Hello,

Yes Nana had a good day... went to Hobby Lobby... just to look around... saw a baseball sign I might get for my SIL for Christmas.. he has a collection of baseball stuff and would go with that... will have to get Carrie's imput on it...

I did lemon oil my big wall unit.. takes a while to do it - take everything off and put it back takes the longest... but now it is done incase we want to put up the Christmas village on Friday, hubby was going to do our outside lights today but we still have snow on the roof so it won't be this week...

It is still cold here, I am using my elec blanket every night lately to stay warm... going to start baking tomorrow for Thanksgiving- have 3 diff pies to make and the rolls... and the stuffing, put together the green bean casserole - ready to bake... cook the orange cranberry compote.. we eat late on Thurs... so have all day to cook the turkey...
and get the rest of the food together.. hoping I get some help on Wed , probably my oldest daughter will come over to help, depending on how her hubby is feeling at the time...

Well off to find a hot bathtub... and some nice bubblebath....

Nana

Tina--nope not my grandson's fault. It was just time to wash clothes here, and I do not want to end up doing that wednesday night when I am trying to bake pies & such---My last load (towels) just finished drying...

Nana--you can come here & clean for me---gracious it sure could use it...No snow here. This next weekend when my Valaire is back, I think I will have her help me put up my tree---with my foot hurt I think the small 3 ft tree would be the way to go...Plus that would go up quick enough that I can ask Val to help me with it & not be imposing...(it would tickle me to have her here doing that like back in the day at home)...

My DD will be making the turkey. I bought the cranberry salad/sauce from our church, after the Sausage Supper. so there will be that. I will bring the green bean casserole, 2 pies, & when there I will mash the potatoes that she will cook and make the gravy.

I tried to tell her I would make the gravy at home & just bring it, but somehow that is wrong--- why

Good morning all..supposed to warm up for a few days, just because a storm is on it's way though.

Off to work today..I forgot about your Thanksgiving this week, we have ours in October here. Hoping you all have a wonderful holiday with family.

Crazy question here...I know a few of you have electric/oil heat, what temperature do you keep it set on?

Good morning..

I have gas heat---a furnace down in the basement. We keep it at72 but it only gets up to 70 then. We used to keep it down a bit like at 69 but what with the grandson coming & my pregnant other daughter, Rod must have moved it up. The gas & elecrtic to the house are billed together. last month we paid like $110.00. Sometimes it is higher, depending on the weather outdoors. AND we have the vents in the basement, and the one in the unused bedroom turned off. The spare room only gets turned on when we have the kids coming to stay--that saves a lot
When we were at the farm, we had electric heat upstairs for the girl's rooms. There was no thermostat, we just turned a dial to whatever, but Rod said it cost like $1.00 a day extra to heat the 2 bedrooms. It was not real warm up there, and we turned the heat off during the day when they were at school.

GTG now---I need to get cleaned up for ceramics..wavy

Good morning. I do have a forced air heater for my house. But it is faulty and needs too much babying to keep it going. (Scary) I only heat with wood now. I am going to tear that furnace out of the closet it is in and have a bit more storage space.
It is warmer today. I'll let the fire burn down and clean up the stove for the next round of weather.

Morning ,

We have elec heat- baseboards in most rooms... we only use the family room one most of the time-have it set at 72* do have the wood stove if power goes out... we do turn on the kitchen one when temps go down to 20's... mostly to make sure pipes don't freeze... don't need that mess- wish our bills were like yours Carol- mine is about 215 a month yr around on the so called budget plan.. though we must have done better this yr with it cause the settle up at yr end bill was only 189. which was nice...

It is chilly again today but at least clouds are gone now- sun is out even if it's not warming us up much... will be and indoor Thanksgiving for sure...

Kids will be back today this afternoon- will miss having Frankie around- he is good company... think even Joe will miss him.... who knows we may get a dog sooner than later again....

Well better go get busy got to finish cleaning the house and start my veg broth simmering away in small crock- all my odds and end of veg from freezer and some spices and water... will be good in the stuffing and gravy.... and extra salt free...

Have a good day all!
Nana

Your vegetable broth sounds good, Nana. I used to do that but don't have as much call for it these days. Most of my vegetable scraps are worm food these days.
I did go to Walmart today. I wanted to make sure I had Ted's nutrition drinks before the shopping craziness set in this weekend. Not going to venture out then. But I may do some online shopping.

I don't often go to the Black friday "sales". I went one year later in the day to get my oldest DD a sweing machine that she wanted.--we got the last one. Then a few years ago I went by myself but didnt find anything much---so yea I will be staying home also.

I am going to a wake soon. The DH of a lady who comes to ceramics has passed away. I should be around later----have a good evening everyone. wavy

I went very early in the morning to one black Friday sale. I didn't buy a thing. I was mostly people watching and enjoying my alone time without my two young kids. Then John and I went to Radio Shack one early black Friday to buy something specific he wanted. We also bought some toys for the kids there that year. But it is not my favorite thing to do. JUst something to see once or twice. So I can sy "been there....."

My girls and I went one time to Black Friday. One time was enough for all of us.

It has rained every second of today and is supposed to do the same tomorrow.

Carrie and I went to black Friday once, never again... not worth it to me... way to many people and traffic....

I usually go day after Christmas and get my cards and wrapping paper for the next year... I have started getting stuff for this year.. but did it online mostly... and Derek's birthday present too- he loves Minecraft and I found him a cover for his phone with a creeper on it... he will love it... his birthday is in a couple weeks- will be 11 ...

Joe has taken the first 3 days of the next 3 weeks off before Christmas so we will have time to shop... and do a couple special things with the boys too... will make it a nice holiday for us...

Well it's late and I have to get up early to start cooking again... and some more cleaning to do- I managed to fall down the step to my garage today- missed it entirely and if I hadn't been holding a mop I would have fallen backward.. made my back hurt so took it kind of easy after that... took some meds and hopefully when I get up it will be better - good thing I can do most of my cooking sitting if not....

Sleep well all,

Nana

Praying Nana is o.k. today kissie

You wouldn't believe the amount of people here heading across the border for Black Friday shopping. Can you imagine? With the price of gas, food and the fact you have to stay overnight..you certainly are not going to save any money. lol

Storming here again....making meat pies today.

OH my, Nana--I do so hope you are ok--and yes, I agree with Tina--as we age falls are more & more scary. I hope that you are feeling better soon.

Sunny--I am thinking those people who drive across the border for black friday sales are just looking for a holiday. You are correct---what with all the expenses, they would not be saving any money--at least I don't see how they could be.

Sorry for the storms...It seems to me that our weather now a days is all kinds of messed up.

I am off today to take my MIL to the Drs yet again---in future I am NEVER making any Drs appts for anyone the week before a holiday OR the day after---This is craziness--

Good morning.
Sunny, I would love some of your meat pies. That is something I have never mastered and always appreciated.
Yes, I'm sure it is more of a holiday than a savings for those traveling across the border to shop Black Friday.
And Carol, I would avoid appointments at this time of year as well.
I have no major plans today. Ted and I are in the middle of a larger than normal haircut for him. So it is very ragged and uneven. I am going to try to get him to sit down so I can fix it. Straighten it up a bit.

Morning,

I don't feel so bad today... seems to be okay so far... just the usual soreness so good to go for now anyway.. I agree falling is scary now.... even almost falling is no fun......

Baking pies today and making the sides... will have grandson here to bring up the table and chairs and the big pots and stuff- less up and down stairs for me...

Well first I better get my tea and breakfast .. then on to cooking!

Take care all , especially those with the nasty weather brewing... so are doing okay here.. actually supposed to get to 57 here today... no more snow till Mon.... Yay!

I want turkey grin can I come over tomorrow? lol

Meat pies are all made and in the freezer...one big chore off my list.

Our snow storm has changed to rain, pouring rain...I am scared of the mess when this all freezes.
