Good morning. We went a bit over in the last ch. So I figured I would open the next one all fresh and new.
School is out tomorrow for MLK Jr day. Today I plan on getting some laundry done and clean bedding all around. I will put something in the crockpot for dinner. Not too sure what else yet.

Yipee, a new CH--- party

So far today I have gone to church, visited my MIL, gone out to eat & washed dishes & straightened up the kitchen. When I am done here, I plan on beginning the quilt-- teach

Frozen Pizza is on the menu for supper tonight..But then that should not surprise anyone.

sounds good to me Barb. If it were up to me, I would not have a menu either. I would probably have something in the house that I could "heat & eat" when the mood struck me, OR I would have a pot soup sitting at the ready in the refrigerator.

Trying to make myself begin the embroidery work here....but I am nsot in the mood... why

And that is why I do slightly larger dinners in the crockpot. I have meals for about 3 days; some dinner, some lunch. I can begin with a roast as sliced roast with vegetables the first night. Put it back alone in the crock for shredded bbq sandwiches on eve two. Then soup it with the veggies or something similar for another meal. It really is lazy cooking.
I also cook for the freezer. If I am going to cook something like pancakes, I make more than I need at that meal. The rest goes into the freezer. I love having it in there for quick heat and eat stuff. I also love knowing what is inside it all. I can pronounce all of the ingredients when it isn't prepackaged. And regulate the salt and types of fats better.
Lazy and picky too.
That being said, I think I will nap while that crock is doing all of the work.

That nap was hours ago. I have completed the laundry and other fun stuff since then. Dinner was easy and good. Looking forward to eating again tomorrow.
I am still running scan stuff on my computer. I just think it is old and obese (no remaining room to maneuver). I think I will add more memory. See if that helps. Then an additional hard drive. A friend has been giving me lessons online.

dodge, sometimes I take a nap after church. Sleeping on Sunday seems so much better.

Junie, if I make a pot of vegetable soup we will eat it for at least 2 days. Johnny is such a big eater that sometimes it won't last more than 2 meals. My staple is peanut butter. I eat it all the time.

well as far as soup goes, Rod will eat it for one meal if he must--but under no circumstances will he eat it for 2 meals in a row, so usually I just forget soup when I am figuring out meals....., that or I make it & eat it for my lunches..I LOVE any type of soup---I could live on them.

My DD eats a lot of peanut better as well...but then she does not eat much red meat--she said it tastes & smells funny.. why---BUT if she is over to eat & I make say pork steaks for a meal, she will eat them....so not an actual vegetarian, just anti the taste... why

I am soon off to bed everyone--sweet dreams.

And while you are doing your cold thing, we will be getting into the 80's this week. I am not unhappy. It is saving me on heating costs. But I would so love to see some rain.

Junie, what bookwork? I spent the day at my mothers and came home and made a chocolate cake with my new mixer. Getting ready to make icing. Yum.

Sheri: I am incharge of making sure all of my MIL's bills get paid and that her accounts are balanced. I make all of her Drs appointments, & take her to them. I order all of her medicines & fill her pill case every week. And that is just some of the stuff I do for her. It keeps me hopping for sure.

Well then Tina, you know just where I am. I do not mind it one bit. BUT I do so wish it did not always take me so long. What I assume should take me say an hour always takes me like 3 or 4...But oh well.....I too will get old one day.

Thanks Tina--and I will not get to go to ceramics. first we will have some snow--but then the forcast says will also be bitter cold with the wind chills of between -5 & -10 & gusting winds up to 45 mph. So I will stay home.
Which is good b/c my niece is in the hospital with a blood clot in her lungs & I have offered to be a back up baby sitter for her 2 daughters incase my sister & my BIL want to go to the hospital to be with her. The hospital she is in is saying it is no big deal & they can take care of it there, so she is not being flown out to a larger hospital---but I said I would be back up for in case.

for now though I am going to bed. nite nite snooz

Thanks Tina:

My niece posted on FB this morning, so at least she is not sedated or anything. BUT they could well be keeping her for the week.

As predicted, we have snow & cold cold winds today. I am SO ready for spring to be here---I promise to "try" to not complain about the rainy weather come spring.

Keep yourself warm and safe, Carol. Did you resupply your cupboards? No starvation?
I got Ted to school and stopped to pick up a few items we needed. Fresh bananas and his yogurts, etc. Then went to a drive thru just to check out the prices. Ted is going walking with his class there tomorrow and I wanted to know exactly how much to send with him. He will enjoy that. But he won't enjoy change jangling in his pocket afterwards.
Came home and got my groceries put away. I need to bone some chicken again for a crockpot casserole.

yes I am nice & warm Tina, thanks.

I got a few groceries yesterday--Milk, potatoes, & some food for my DH's work lunches mainly. But I am good, as I have meat in the freezer & canned goods in the pantry.

Sounds like Ted will have a good time tomorrow--that is great

nope not frozen in---it is 14 right now---and is supposed to get up to between 20 & 30 today. Snow flurries at some point also but they may not even reach the ground (?).
Gusts of winds today and significant wind chillls tonight.

I think I will be staying indoors today.

as an update:
My niece is home form the hospital and is on blood thinners. She will have tests down the road to determine why this happened but for now the Drs want to let the blood thinners work.

Prayers for your Great Nephew, Dodge. Do let us know how the surgery goes.

I just tried to put too many potato peelings down my garbage disposal & it is clogged---AND I have no idea what Rod did with the plunger.
NOTE: This is a construction grade disposal & one cannot put much at all down it or this happens. When I get it unclogged, I think I may well stop using it.
After all I did not have one for 25 years & I got by.

Prayers for your little nephew, Dodge.
I got Ted to school and stopped to pick up the things I forgot yesterday. Plus a few things. Realized as I was putting that away That I need bread as well. (sigh). It is OK really because there will be more trips out this week.

Carol, Tina's right, you should try composting those vegetable peels.

dodge, I'll be praying for your grand nephew. His condition might be called holoprosencephaly.

I don't know about your doctors office but Johnny's wants everything to be one online - everything from making an appointment to looking at procedure results. When you call the office number now you're put on hold forever with a recording that says over and over "visit our website at.....". Very aggravating, especially when you're calling from your car.

Last time Johnny saw his doc he told him to make an appointment for March 3rd to review some tests results that should all be back by then and because this particular doc would definitely be in the office that day. A few minutes ago I went online and scheduled an appointment for 3/3/14 at 9:45. When I checked back it said "You have an appointment 2/27/14 at 10:00." I cancelled it and redid it for 3/3/14 at 9:45. When I checked back it said "You have an appointment 2/27/14 at 10:30." (time had changed) So I called and talked to the appointment person. She said it's showing in her system as 3/3/14 at 9:45 and she guesses it's just a glitch in this system since it's new and not to worry. So what are we supposed to do? If I use this system again because I don't want to hang on hold all day, how do I know I have the correct appointment?

I too have faith that the little guy will be fine. But, in the mean time I will pray for him and the whole family. Prayer is always a good thing anyway, right ???/

Tomorow my BIL is going to come & get me & take me to visit my Niece. So, I will make some donut muffins to her as a breakfast treat...No school tomorrow, so my great nieces should be there as well. It should be a good time!!!

G'nite everyone, Sweet Dreams.

Good morning. Up over an hour before my alarm. I will be napping later for sure. There is a cold snap here. We will only get up to about 70* today.

Yep, "only 70" she says..
It is 1 here. I do not want to even think what the wind chill is.

I am going to go make breakfast muffins now to take to my nieces. See you all later.

As Tina says, keep warm.

I know, I was bragging a bit. But when my house burns down in a wildfire or shakes to pieces in a quake, you can get your revenge. Really, everyplace has its ups and downs. I hope this winter eases up on you all back there.

Dodge is exactly correct. I hope that you nevr have such mayhem fall upon you. We would certainly NOT be happy if it were to happen.

Change of plans today. My BIL can't come & get me. I guess he forgot he had to go sit with his dad at the prescribed time so his Mom could go to an appointment. That is ok--I got my kitchen in order and a dozen breakfast Muffins baked in the time I would still be drinking coffee. thumbup

and speaking of coffee, I need to go get some. teach

No. I don't grow grass. I would be mowing all year long. I do have a few grass clumps that I allow to grow so my dog has something to chew on if he gets an upset stomach. As my older perennials, in my beds, die off from drought stress, I am trying to replace with food plants. Going more self sufficient and organic as possible. Makes for an interesting mix so far.

Good Morning,

I am praying for your nephew Barb., he will come thru fine... for family too....candles are lit..

Tina we do not wish bad things to happen to you and yours though I admit I am jealous of 70* this morning- it is 9 and the high will be 27*... I finally can go out again and if I wanted to I would have to shovel the drive and then drive in ice and snow- we have about 6 inches of snow so far... its finally stopping and sun is out so now... yesterday it was so warm we went out without coats... it's no wonder everyone is sick!

I got my stitches out yesterday... face feels a lot better now- doesn't look as bad- just still bruised... have an apt in 4 months for checkup... make sure nothing else shows up... they still say I shouldn't bend so can't so a lot of housework... but I will do some today- after a week of hubby's doing the minimum it needs some cleaning- grandson is here so he can help do the stuff I can't yet... he showed me the ring he got for his girlfriend last night- he is going to get engaged when she gets back from school in Florida.. then they will move in together ... seems like he was just a baby but he turned 22 on New Years Eve... sure goes by fast..

Well off to get busy... have a good day all!
Nana

Nana sounds as if things are going well for you. I am so happy to hear that. Dodge has some good ideas, please do not over-do. Let people "do" for you for once. I am usre what your DH has done will get yoiu buy awhile longer. Or you could hire it done just this once. Please take care of you.

Dodge, you have a good point. Tina is sure resourceful. We should all take classes from her. thumbup

I am currently seperately soaking my dk colors of Embroidery floss in Vinegar & water--7 colors at a time--This is after I washed each one seperately in hot soapy water.

I will be searching out another brand of crib cover the next time I do one of these.

No, I know no one wishes such disasters on me or most anyone else. I was more pointing out that there are downsides to most places in the world we can choose to live.
The funny thing about our warm weather is we don't build for cold weather. When it does get cold, it makes life very interesting here. My home is so far from weatherproof.
I am glad you are on the mend, Nana. Congrats to your grandson.

Okay I will take it easy- no bending ... will just supervise... hubby called and told me not to shovel- didn't intend to but said I wouldn't.. I find my face hurts if I move very much so here I sit again... Barb can't roll around on chair cause I have stairs all over house... and I use my laptop mostly and sit in my recliner... use my office desktop for bills mostly which I should be doing now but that room gets really cold so had to turn on heater in there to warm it up first...

We should all do as Tina does too I am thinking about getting a dehydrator and doing some of the dried meals in jars.. would come in handy in snowed in times... or taking to B and B for fast meals up there... may be my goal for this spring summer...

Well off to go do bills... hopefully will have a few dollars left over ....LOL!

And we have had tornadoes in California. Not nearly as large as the ones in the midwest but they have come.
I am glad Joe is taking care of you, Sherri.

Yes Sheri, it is good that Joe is taking such good care of you.

My DD, the one with the little boy called me tonight. She has found a good used baby bed for me. (YAY). it is just like hers but it is Espresso. Well, I love that color. BUT good thing I didn't say anything as She said she may keep it and give me hers. (hers is Blond) Best part is it will cost me half of waht a new one does. I know 2 different places that I can get hardly used at all mattresses so I am set--YAY

(now to get rid of a lot of stuff in this room)
Apparently my Grandchildren are supposed to have a nice room at "Grandma's".

G'nite everyone, sweet dreams.

Going to be a long day here as well. I got up early yesterday & felt great---today up a bit early & I do not feel so great. Hoping a shower helps me get rid of said feeling.
If not, I am soon off to my 4 month check-up, so I will be going to the right place.

Just back from the Drs. My BP was VERY good, Dodge. BUt sadly I gained 5 pounds over the holidays. So that & a lot more will have to come off. back to being hungry all the time I guess.

I dont get upset either but then I never did.

I am glad your BP is good, Carol. That is a great part of the battle these days.
I am in for the day. Although I may still go out and check my mail. I do need to decide about dinner. Or pull something out of the freezer or something. I am running on low energy today.

OK--so my DD called---it seems they are NOT busy in the morning after all, so, they will be here at 9 AM. great.

I am so beat & had a headache (sinuses) but I worked anyway....and will work a bit more. Then DD will just have to help me as she said she would.

I'll catch everyone tomorrow as I can.

I really dislike getting older. The person that said life begins at 40 and coined the term "The Golden Years" was just plain wrong !!

The reason for my rant---waking in the morning before I have to (like Tina does).

But moving on, Getting up early afforded me the time to prepare a place downstairts for the bed we are removing form in here, so as to have room for the crib. I have also gotten a sweet bread from the freezer for my kids for breakfast and started some laundry. I guess getting up early is not all bad.

Busy day here----getting in some coffee right now to prepare for it.

I do like early mornings. It is when I have the most energy and can get things done. I dislike not getting enough sleep, however. This morning I took my coffee and my dog outside as the sun rose. It was very pleasant.
I have laundry going and am kind of marking time until one late opening business opens to go out. Then hopefully, I can go there and the others I need to stop at before I come home and collapse into a nap. Or putting something into the crock and then collapsing.
I am glad you were productive this morning, Carol. I hope you get a nap as well. Are you getting the blonde bed or the other?

I love it. Jonni's tax forms came in the mail today. I picked them up after 11 am and finished filing for her before 1 pm. Last year I kept putting off the filing until into April. Now when my forms come in, I can get down to it. I'm a little more afraid of mine this year.

Our taxes are pretty simple and straight forward so far. But I do have protection in case of an audit. But I am not leasing any of my land out. That would be pretty interesting paperwork there. And yes, they do scrape off their fair share, Both federal and state.

I get up early too. It's the best time of the day. Johnny on the other hand likes to lay in bed and start late but then the day ends late for him. I've never understood that.

Tina you made me think about taxes. We haven't received all our stuff yet.

I think your blowing smoke this time Tina.
No one has protection of an audit>>>>>>>>Your not leasing yours , you are renting it out.
They don't scrape it ,they just take it. You aren't above the law by any means.
If you have multiple incomes, your taxes are not straight an forward.
Obama wants more

I got the Espresso bed, Tina, and the changing table--which is good (I love dark furniture) but bad that the one side rail comes half way down. I have no idea why--(this is the same bed my DD has remember, but her rails are stationary)

I have all the paperwork so I am going to read it all tomorrow.
Luke is old enough for the rails to move, but I can only imagine what my other DD & SIL will have to say.

We get our taxes done by an accountant too. Always have. We think if there is a problem, let him deal with it.

I do not have multiple income sources. Just one. I am not leasing out or renting my land to anyone. It is simple taxes. I do have someone to deal with an audit if I need it. An accountant would go with me if needed. I have been audited before. It was all good.
Congrats on the the dark bed, Carol. I think they are no longer selling drop side cribs? I think they are easy to stabilize into a fixed position though. If it worries you.

well see that is why we were confused. This is the exact crib my daughter has for her son, & so should have come with stable sides. ( hers has the solid sides.)
Personally Emily likes that the side drops down some, it is easier to get Luke in & out of his bed.
The drop is really just about 6 to 8 inches is all. But we shall see what Valarie & Brian say--They are coming down in march for a Baby Shower.

Good morning. I actually slept in a bit today.
It looks like our rain dances may be squeezing some moisture out of the sky. We may get some sprinkles tonight and maybe some more next week. Anything is helpful at this point.

We are warm here today too. but supposed to drop to 20 or so tomorrow... so not looking fwd to it...

I feel so much better or did till last night- evidently something didn't agree with me- spent the evening in the bathroom , don't think it was something I ate- think it was maybe a touch of what boys and Carrie had last week.. hit fast and suddenly- then was gone and feel okay now- just not to anxious to eat much...

I still am not supposed to bend so Joe and Matthew are doing that part of stuff for me.. you don't realize just how much you bend over in a day till you aren't supposed to do it...eye is till swelling at night but does go down in the day time...still hurts some but not bad now-... just really hard to be patient and not do something dumb to mess it up..

Well off to go eat some lunch and then see what I can manage to do for dinner... it's even hard to cook, pans are all in low cupboards.. have to let the guys get stuff out for me... they preach patience- don't have a lot of it...

Nana

Nana, are you supposed to keep your head elevated at night to keep the swelling down?

We don't do our own taxes. Years ago my daughter and her husband and us had the same accountant. We and they always ended up owing money. Finally we changed and now we usually come out even. I don't know how they do what they do but good accountants can be a BIG help.

Nana, I hope you start recovering even more quickly now. I am not sure if I would be able to do the recovery so well.
When you own your own business, You need tax help.
I guess this about the warmest we will be today so it may be the best time to shower and bathe.

I may look around at another accountant, next year, my investment finishes this time.
Thanks for the tips.
Nana ....pleased your doing better, its hard to be patient when your in pain. But please be carefull....The eye needs you an you need it. prayers

One year when we had that other accountant Johnny owed $10,000.00 and my son in law owed $5,000.00. That's when we changed.

Tina, if it's not too nosy I don't remember you ever renting or leasing out your land or houses or anything for that matter. Not that it's any of my business.

No. I have not shared my land. Or I should say, our land, as Jonni and I own it together. We are considering selling it, though. I don't want to live on it and neither does she.
I like to weather watch so as to be prepared for it too.

I dont worry about it, I just dont like to drive in it and so & do not like it when it happens. Plus we no longer have my Blazer...small cars do not do well in snow OR ice...

Well I finally began my embroidery work on my DD's Crib Blanket. thumbup

I'm with you Tina about not wanting to live on a bunch of land. As you know, we keep saying we're going to sell out and move to a neighborhood or condo but every time we look it feels claustrophobic and we stop looking for a while. I keep waiting for a house to be the ONE that I can't live without.

Juniegirl, I even hate driving in just the rain not even to mention the ice and snow. I don't know how you guys do it all the time. I'd probably become a recluse if I lived where you do.

Johnny finally got lab results and is hyperthyroid. He's lost from 206 to 177 in just a few weeks. He's lost 7 pound since Wednesday. I hope a doctor can see him tomorrow and get him started on medicine.
