It is a Canon 75mm-300mm

Sounds good.. I have that on my Nikon.. I aren't up on cameras.
My Canon only has the 18 -55 I enjoy that one for close work. And sometime the color.

A while back Johnny bought me a Nikkon SLR with 2 lens camera and I couldn't figure out how to use it. Also the close up shots weren't close enough to suit me. I couldn't see the man in the moon with either lens. I took it back and got a Canon SX50 for 1/3 the price and love it. I'm sure the pictures aren't as clear and I can't get a panoramic view like I could with the telephoto lens but it works for me.

Kudos to you on a good choice.. I plum wore out my canon we both owned.. Like 20,000. It turned black on me.
However I own a Canon EOS Rebel.......with only a 18-55 mm lens an I use it always for close ups. Still love the majic of the canon closeups.. Only lens I have on it .Maybe some day I would venture into a larger than life lens for it. Not yet unless I could find a nice used one ..$$$$$$$$$$$$

My other camera finally gave out too Barb. I wish you had a new one like my new one. You taught me more about that other camera than I ever learned from the manual and my new one didn't even come with a manual. I have to look it up online. What if a person doesn't have a computer??? I don't understand no supplying a manual. My phone didn't come with a manual either.

I sure did enjoy that one.. It was great how we can take photos an not get them developed.
I am still messing with cameras, an the guy when works my farm, warned his helpers, to watch that Barb , she she chases you with a camera.........LOL

Its fun to get the unexpected, on the camera.......But I still miss Ole Thorn, an his bird work.

last time I talked to Thornius he had met a woman in England (I think) and was mainly talking to her. I don't think we were friends on Facebook but I'll see if I can find him and see what's happening.

I thought I had Thorn's name on a card list or something but don't. Does anyone know his name so I can find him on FB.

He was quite the story teller.
His son directed him into the camera world.. He made a good friend on here.

dodge, I thought you entered that photo contest he mentioned a time or two. I entered a few times and won 2nd place once. I used to get weekly results. I'll try to find that too.

I found his FB page and sent him a message but he hasn't posted there since June so I don't know when he'll get back to us.

I found his twitter page .. Old 2010
He is 57 years old or maybe 59 being it was 2010
He had a live Journal on twitter 2010.
Hooked up with an old girlfriend from younger days, also a widow. Maybe he is on that now??

dodge do you remember the ultimate photo battle www.ultimatephotobattle.com ? Thornius used to post there and I thought he had given both of us that website address too. I'm going to see if I can find him on there.

I went to the birdforum and he hasn't posted there since 2005 either. Hope he's ok.

dodge I used the Canon SX50. It's a point and shoot with a 50X zoom.

Show us more , love seeing your trees in the views also.
It shows us what trees etc grow in your area, which we don't see here in zone 5 or 6 or whatever.

Sometime just send us a view of the greenery around you. Just for a change of view.
