James, How do we handle this ? Windows xp dies april 8 I checked mine an is says you don't have xp?? N How do we find out what we have? Will we need to get new computers for the 8.1 What kind of Internet provider is needed? Same? Said we will be more vunible to virus when this happens? Questions questions Thanks Yours truly Dodge

Support for XP expires on April 8th; I'm 98% sure none of you have ever contacted Microsoft for support so there isn't really much reason to worry.
BTW, Windows 7 generally can run on systems that XP ran on (I do this all the time with computers since I hate W8).
Your ISP doesn't matter as far as your operating system goes.

Thank you ladies :). She's at her moms this weekend, I pick her back up tomorrow at 6:30 then have her till Tues at 6:30 then get her back for a weekend visit (split is 50/50 with transition days Sun/Tues/Fri at 3/4 days per week, semi confusing lol).
I've played extensively with W8, and I'm just not a fan, W7 they hit it right (WXP as well); I spent a good 6 hours hunting down drivers for my moms W8 laptop so she could run W7.

W7 is what I use.. I will stick with it.
Why do you think folks like the Ipod an Ipads so much.
I still prefer these old types.

I have an android tablet that I either do not know all it can do or I am not a fan---- I am currently looking at getting a new computer.--IF I get a laptop or a surface (like my DD thinks I should) then my DH can wipe this desktop and use it just for himself. I print quite a lot so I am torn---so we shall see...

I still prefer my desk top.. Laptops are crazy to type on .. Jump all around with words. Guess I aren't up on teck. I have lap an desk an not sure the others are worth the bother?? Cell phone is sort of crazy to type with also.

I have XP. What's going to happen? They're not providing support or updates for it any further; make sure you have a good up to date virus scanner or buy a Windows 7 upgrade disk such as this.

Avast is what I use, weekly auto scan with Spybot Search and Destroy as well (scans for spyware and the like)
